I went in here to buy a few times. Most things are over priced for the condition. I tried to sale things as well talked to them was told what they would and would not take bought in on the day said and they were not taking those items. Also it is a over filled store of which is hard to even get a small stroller around. I no longer am bringing them my business.

I was turned off by this company after seeing another customer treated horribly I told myself that I couldn't shop at such a place. A year later the employee that was so rude left the company and I returned... First just to shop but about four months ago I decided to consign some items. I signed the agreement under the impression that they can not donate my items without calling me first and that would call when the three month period was over. I called them three times and didn't get a call back until after they donated my clothes. I didn't even care so much about that. I went in today with my three young children to find the only employee there engaged in a ten minute long conversation about Disney World. She looked at me, Acknowledged I was waiting in line, and turned to the lady in front of her to continue chatting. My daughter who us potty training had an accident so I had to step outside I then called the store and voiced my complaint to her... I asked her about the items I consigned. I found out how much was in my account and asked for a check. I wanted it mailed to my house because I refuse to go to pick up check for only $20 to be ignored for another ten minutes while my three children whine and complain about being there. She told me because I'm in new bern I have to pick it up. So I spent the money quickly buying my children rubbish I will probably throw out in a week just to be finished with this place. I will be letting all of my friends know of my experience. The employee told me I should have interrupted her... That's not my job. Train your employees in customer service! I am also a small business owner but out employees treat people like they are worth their time!

This is a response to the 1 who said the new owners are rude. I started consuming with the old owners and all of my clothes sold were put on someone else's accredited. They couldn't even find what I had sold. I have been very happy with the new owner. And as far as being limited to the number of clothes that can be taken to the store each month, I have Always taken upwards of 50-100 pieces at one time. As a matter of fact, I am working on some things to take in today. The are great to work with.

  • clean store. they know their s...

clean store. they know their stuff when it comes to children's items. Plus they have a store in Jacksonville, and will bring items from that store to new bern. would recommend to anyone. Why give your stuff away to stores like once upon a child, when you can make so much more money this way- ive made almost 1200 last year alone. super store!!!

  • I would rather throw my stuff away than consign with NBT.

This review is not for the Next Best Thing in the old location. This is only reviewing the new location (next to Big Lots). Consigning at the old location with the prior owner was enjoyable and mutually beneficial. The new location has extremely rude employees who treat you as if they are doing you a favor by taking your consignments. Despite the fact they now get 60% and you 40%. Their consignment conditions are absolutely ridiculous so make sure you read the fine print! Their policies seem to change without notice. You can only bring in 25 things a month? That is such an arbitrary and unreasonable policy. If you want to remove one of your items they will impose a charge. That charge is only to pad their pockets as it takes them one minute to remove YOUR item from their computer. As soon as they call you to pick up your "rejects" you might want to go right away because they will donate them within days of calling you.

As a customer I am likewise unsatisfied. The items are cheaper but they are also much less quality. Cheap generic brands washed and stretched out clothes that are out of date. The clothes are supposed to be separated by size but that is generally not the case. The placement of the items seem to follow no rhyme or reason and it’s difficult to find what you are looking for.

  • Lacking professionalism

Love the concept! But if you decide to consign with them, CLEARLY get the details of when and how and if you will be paid. The rules on when and how to drop things off change frequently too.

Not available by phone often, and employees lacking professional courtesies on the phone when they do answer.

Selection is good and decent quality.

Take it up a notch "Next Best Thing"! We want you to succeed!

  • Awesome!!

You can't beat the prices if your a shopper and if you are consigning there, your stuff WILL get sold!! Great atmosphere and friendly workers!! Stop by, you wont be disappointed! They have just about anything that you could want whether you are pregnant, shopping for the kids or if you know someone that is expecting. My mom loves it for the grandbabies and I am an addict as far as my kids go!!
