History Established in 1934 Following the death of their father in 1914, Harry and David Rosenberg took over the family orchard business in Oregon's Rogue River Valley. The brothers were schooled in agriculture at Cornell University. They put their agricultural training to good use and decided early on to specialize in the Comice pear, for which there was a good export market to Europe. Throughout the Roaring 20's, the fame of their "Royal Riviera" pears spread, and business boomed. Always innovating, the brothers came up with the idea of selling their pears by mail. In 1934, they made their famous sales trips to San Francisco and New York to pitch their pears as ideal business gifts. It was the beginning of Harry and David as America's premier direct marketer of fruit and food gifts. Today, the company continues to grow and develop new ways to capitalize on Harry & David's brands and our reputation for unmatched quality and customer service.

  • Horrible Delivery Follow-through and Worse Customer Service

    For the second year in a row, my parents have ordered Christmas fruit arrangements from Harry and David for distribution to friends and family...and for the second year in a row, they have failed to deliver the product as advertised and according to the agreed-upon delivery date. This year, my parents' order was 5 days late (although ordered in sufficient time to arrive the week of Christmas, the packages were delivered AFTER Christmas) so they weren't able to distribute the packages as they had planned (AND they sat around for a week waiting for the delivery). When engaging with customer service, the issues were NOT resolved in a timely manner and the company seemed not to be fazed at all at the consistent lack of customer service. More specifically, H&D did not follow-through on the order to ensure its delivery to the end-customer. Rather, once the packages were handed off to the delivery company, H&D considered their job done. We later learned that the shipping company that H&D used had handed the packages off to a third party for delivery to my parents (who were asked to back date delivery in their records). Needless to say that by the time it was delivered, the fruit had become overripe, discolored, and soft. My parents are thoroughly unsatisfied with the service they have received - or NOT received, I should say - and likewise, I am completely disgusted by the lack of regard for customers who (despite the repeated poor service) would still like to believe in Harry & David products.



    If you have a choice of vendors, chose someone else. Trust me...
