Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
I called Roto-Rooter to come check out our slow-draining bathtub. They told us they couldn't give us an estimate over the phone, but we figured how much could it be? The serviceman showed up, shut the bathroom door behind him (I've never seen a plumber do that), and ran his wetvac for about 10 or 15 minutes. The rest of his call was spent sitting in his truck doing who only knows what only to come back and charge us $296.95! To run a wetvac for a few minutes! My husband and I were floored and tried to correct the problem only to discover that Roto-rooter charges a flat fee of $265 plus a shop fee of $31.95. Yet they couldn't give an estimate. Unbelievable. Save your money and shop elsewhere.

URGENT: PLEASE READ..Put our house up for sale and needed work on our gas furnace after our home inspection.Went through AHS, and they send Greenway. Against my better judgement I let them on my property (last time they did work they stepped through my ceiling drywall and it took months to get it fixed..).Window of service was 12:00-5:00 pm.. He called at 5:45 and said he was on his way.. Showed up around 6..Went up in the attic, came back down, got a part.. came back down, said he tried to install a new ignitor but it was a dud.. Have to order a part.. They'll call me..Ok. Well at least my drywall is intact..My family comes home a couple hours later and say they smell gas.. I can't smell it bc I've been inside the house the whole time.. I call Greenway.. the after hours manager tells me to call the gas company bc replacing an ignitor can never, ever, ever, ever (30 years experience), cause a gas leak.. we go back and forth over it.. he washes his hands of it.. not his problem.Gas company comes out and finds a union in the main gas line that the Greenway tech loosened and then failed to tighten back up. Filled the house up with gas.. could have easily killed me.Do NOT let Greenway on your property. Your family is too valuable.

Hers And His Plumbing
I would rate 10 STARS if it was a choice! Hers & His is thee most outstanding, “got-it-together” company I have dealt with in a long time. Professional, follows through, and does exactly what they say. Jeff Lamons (Nashville) was incredible handling, coordinating and get the job done in a timely matter. (This was not some leaky faucet, this was 300' of new water line from the street) I cant say enough and for me to sit down and write a POSITIVE REVIEW is unique and deserves every good word. I wish they could share their business skills with companies like COMCAST! It would be a better world! Thank you guys! We have shared your company with everyone regardless if they need work done. Much success to you! Patty & Tony Jones

The ratings should have a ZERO when dealing with this specific company. I have owned many homes in the last 24+ years and have had encounters with HVAC companies throughout that time but this has to be by far the worst company in history. Forget HVAC, these people business practice is horrific as they lie, cheat, and never return phone calls when it's 90 degrees out side and you have been waiting for a new AC for 3 months. The warranty company used them as vendor and in the last few years they started a attic fire, flooded my spare bedroom, and have a practice to sell you over priced R22 freon for $105 a pound when it cost the industry $22, and then they blame it on the government that they have a 75% mark up on the gas. Lies!!! The employees Kimberly, Maureen, and Keith are all liars and all businesses should care what the public thinks of them and as you can read on these threads the only comments that are positive are the ones they pay for. smh luckily I'm dealing with a new company and finally getting my new AC. Remember R22 freon is $22 wholesale and a decent company wouldn't take your head off by selling you something so expensive under false pretenses. #hvac #frauds #greenway #greenwayhomeservices #homewarranty #fraudulent and I'm just getting started #nashvilleconsumercrimes

I've been in TN 7 years now. Used AHS as my warranty co and they sent out the worst of the worst for repairs. I complained and they sent out Greenway. They were efficient, proficient and caring. A pleasure to deal with for HVAC and Appliances. Until, I had a plumbing problem. My outside hose bibb was leaking. They came quickly and plugged it up but then no word for two months. After several calls, someone came out and put the handle back on. I didn't use it for a while, but when I did... It was leaking like crazy. Calls to customer service have gone unanswered(?) My first bad experience with an otherwise good company. Maybe they just suck at plumbing?

Greenway is horrible! Missing appt times not calling. Customer Services is poor. Always and excuse. It is always the customer fault. I been have issues with them for 3 months for a Dishwasher and Wash Machine Pump. I don't recommend this company at all! If it was legal I would record them on the phone and their technicians. Unorganized and total unprofessional as a company.

Incapable. Condescending. Aweful. I could write about the 3-months of frustrations... But you just need to know not to hire them. Find a different contractor.

ARS / Rescue Rooter Nashville
These guys are scam artists. Avoid at all costs!!I was looking at hybrid water heaters at Home Depot. A guy with a clipboard asked me, if I wanted a free estimate on having a hybrid water heater installed. I agreed. A rep from ARS Rescue Rooter came to my house and presented me with an estimate of $3900.00 to install a hybrid water heater. I laughed and invited him to leave immediately. He then tried to charge me for the estimate. Good luck with that!! I called a friend who does handy work. He installed the hybrid water heater for $350 parts and labor. ARS Rescue Rooter is a scam – BEWARE!!!

Tips & Advices
The following tools and common household objects can be used to clean drains at home:
  • A plunger
  • A drain snake
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Grease-fighting dish soap
Homeowners can mix boiling water with any of the last three products to break up grease and grime.
The main ingredients in clog removal liquid products are sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, both break down into relatively harmless components when it comes into contact with water or soil. However, both substances cause mild irritation to skin and internal tissues.
Also known as a drain auger, a drain snake is a coiled device around ¼-inch thick. To use a drain snake, put the end into the entrance of the drain. Turn the handle to force the snake deeper, using extra pressure to force it through the bend in the pipe. Keep turning until the snake hits the clog, then either pull the snake and remove the obstruction or force it through. Once the snake is out of the drain, run the water on full blast for a few minutes to ensure the obstruction is completely removed.
Plungers don't damage residential pipes, but the force created by the act of plunging weakens the seal between the toilet and the floor.
Many plumbers, both local businesses and nationwide chains, offer emergency or same-day services.
