Elder's Book Store
After 46 years, Elder’s is moving. Our new address is 101 White Bridge Road, Nashville, TN 37209. We will have our own building with plenty of parking, finally. Like you, we have many memories and some regrets. However, the new location has many practical advantages and will be closer to most of our customers, as well as to our home. That means as we get older, we will be able to stay in business longer, because we can avoid driving in traffic. As you can imagine, we have much more than we can move, so we will start reduction on in-store sales now as we start moving. While we don’t have set percentage price reductions yet, we can already give real deals on volume purchases. Later reductions will be more, but selection will be much less. The truth is even on items we would ordinarily move rather than reduce, we do have a real incentive to cut the price and save ourselves the strain. The move should be complete by mid-summer we hope. Thanks for the memories, Randy & Anita Elder

Mckay Used Books & Cd's
Looking for a book for your children's summer reading, school reading lists, self help books or any type of book you are looking for. Go to McKays Used Books where you can find books, music, cds, games, etc for anywhere from 60%-80% off the prices you pay. You can also sell your items to them as well for cash or store credit. Check them out before you buy a new book and save a little cash. The only thing I don't pick up the phone to tell you whats in stock. You just have to go and shop in person. But the store is well organized into categories.

Parnassus Books
This independent bookstore in Green Hills is a favorite destination for my kids. They always get to pick out a paperback book, and they enjoy playing with the train table and sometimes staying for story time. The store keeps getting bigger, which hasn't necessarily meant more books, but rather more spots for gathering and more gifts for sale. I'm a member of their First Editions Club, which I highly recommend. They mail you a handpicked new release every month.

Phillips Toy Mart
The only unique toy store in town! They sell "old school" types of toys and games. They have lots of wooden toys, porcelain dolls, trinkets, puppets and even a huge train set set up in the store. They even have real bunnies brought in during March and April for the children to visit. I loved shopping for my son there because I was able to find unique toys that aren't available at Toys R Us or Target.

Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt University
Big store! They have a large selection of general reading books, but also carry all the college stuff (textbooks, Vanderbilt clothing and gifts, school supplies, etc). They have a cafe, too. Parking can be difficult out front, but there is a parking garage with plenty of space in the back. The store can validate your parking ticket for up to 4 hours of free parking!

Books-A-Million has a wide selection of items, and I've always been able to find something new to read. They do try to push their rewards program at the register, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you purchase a large number of books annually. For a fee, you can earn discounts each visit. Overall, a great place to find something new to read!

Phillips Toy Mart
This local toy store has so much more magic than Toys R Us or a click on Amazon. From the miniature trains and control tower to the Calico Critters hands on displays, the whole atmosphere is child-friendly, small scale, and full of little treasures to discover. Prices are not bad, especially when you get free gift wrap!

Mckay Used Books & Cd's
This is one of the best, if not the best, used bookstore in Nashville. The selection is massive - and not only books, but other media including video, audio, and even video games. It takes some hunting around, but the treasures you will find in here are second to none. Great to sell used books as well.

Fairytales Bookstore
This is a family owned small bookstore that has the necessities for children's book collections. It is a perfect place to pop in and grab a gift for a birthday party with a wide selection of crafts and toys. When you are finished shopping, you can go across the hall to Pied Piper Creamery.

Just a moment...
