I am so disappointed with the service. It's been six weeks, so I waited long enough to cool down before writing a review. There was a minor gas leak in my basement, so the ComEd technician located the gas leak, marked the exact spot with tape, wrote out exactly what needed to be done and the parts needed, and shut off the gas. He said to call a plumber to replace the part and show them exactly what needed to be done, a minor repair. I called this company to do the repair, told them exactly what was needed, and then showed the serviceman exactly the spot. It was an elbow joint that needed replaced. There was no guesswork required. I was quoted a price of $153 plus parts for 45 minutes and an addition $51 for each additional 15 minutes of work required. The serviceman did the repair and seemed to take his time, but I was relieved that it took about 40 minutes total. Then he went to his truck. He waited about seven minutes before bringing in a receipt, which was a form torn from a receipt pad that he had handwritten in the amount charged. He charged me for an hour. Apparently, I was being charged $51 for him to write out a receipt that should have taken a few seconds. I could hardly believe it! When the ComEd guy came back, he was shocked at the price I paid and, without saying it outright, pretty much indicated that I got hosed by this company. The rate was high, which I accepted, but the extra $51 charge on a simple repair is ridiculous.Having had time to cool off, I will say that the repair, simple as it was, seems to have been completed correctly and well done. But I also value honesty and integrity, and I do not believe that the additional $51 I was charged was in any way honest. For that reason, I would not recommend this company at all.

Ambrose Plumbing & Sewer Inc
I called Ambrose plumbing a week ago because I needed help fixing a leaky spigot in my garage. After watching several overly complicated "how to fix your..." videos online and a having an underwhelming conversation with a hardware employee about my problem, I finally decided to throw in the towel and call an actual plumber. Mike was very thorough and quickly diagnosed the source of the leak by giving me instructions over the phone. I was happy to hear that he had the part I needed in stock and gave me a rather inexpensive quote ($95 dollars) total for the part and labor. What really blew me away though (the reason I was compelled to leave feedback) is that: the technician (Mike) was on time, he was courteous, installed the part quickly, and actually charged me less than I was quoted. Although my male ego was a little wounded that I called a plumber out for what appeared to be an easy fix, it was worth it to find a plumber that was affordable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and reliable.

AquaTech Plumbing
I called Aqua Tech on 2 consecutive days. Both experiences were phenomenal. Aqua Tech sent Nate on the first day and I could not have been more impressed with his professionalism, knowledge and trustworthiness. He explained everything and warned me of the problems that might occur with the work I was asking him to perform and the ensuing costs. I actually incurred very little cost that day. Nate was incredibly fair and honest. The next morning, upon realizing my kitchen sink was backing up and I had a leaky pipe, I didn't hesitate to call Aqua Tech and ask for Nate again. I was not sorry that I did. Nate worked tirelessly to diagnose the source of my leak and completed the work in a timely manner. The best part was that he cleaned up the mess of his having to cut the drywall. He got a shopvac off his truck and cleaned it right up. I highly recommend Aqua Tech and Nate. I truly feel I paid a fair price for quality work by a professional.

Aquatech plumbing backs their service warranty! Larry and Jason installed a tankless water heater and the thing itself had a problem. The manufacturer agreed it was their issue, but we’d have to wait 4 days for the part! How about no hot water! This was Friday and we had company coming for the week-end! The owner of AquaTech had his plumbers pull that unit and install another one that night, when they knew they might not get their money back from the tankless company because they told us to wait on a part. Aquatech understood our situation with friends coming and was on our side. They took care of us. We’ll always use Aquatech Plumbing. You couldn’t tear me away. Peggy

Hands down the best place I have gone to for my bathroom. I was looking to get my bathroom remodeled and everywhere I went the cost was extremely high and out of my budget. I went to Phil Walz off Odgen and they were super helpful. I told them what my budget was and they were able to help me and work around my budget so that I can get what I wanted. The first look a the work when it was finished I was in shock from how great it was! I would highly recommend them for remodeling and plumbing needs!

This is the second time I used Phil Walz Plumbing and I've been completely satisfied each time. In the middle of a multiple inch rain fall and flooding scenario, my sump pump went out and I took about a foot of water in the basement. Steve from Walz came out first thing (as promised) and installed a new pump. The water is now on the outside of the basement! Thanks to Steve and Phil Walz Plumbing!

Finn Plumbing
Finn Plumbing Naperville exceeded my expectations. I had a tricky problem with a sprinkler system leak. Ryan jumped right in and located the problem (after digging for 30 minutes). He repaired the problem promptly and the system has been working perfectly since. I highly recommend Finn Plumbing Naperville. Very friendly and fair.

Love the people who work here. Went to the store and the lady was great towards me and my wife. When the plumber came out to my house he was super professional and had the job done fast and right. Would definitely come back here
Tips & Advices
  • Are you licensed and registered?
  • Are you insured and bonded?
  • How many years have you been in business?
  • What, if any, professional associations do you belong to?
  • May I have a list of references?
  • Do you offer a written warranty for your work?
  • Will I need a permit for this work?
It is important to have a written warranty for any work or repairs done to the plumbing in your house, especially if it is a major repair. Look for a professional  who is willing to  stand by his or her work.
Before you hire a plumber, contact their past customers if you're able to. These people can be a wealth of information if you ask them the right questions. Pose the following queries to these former patrons when you get the chance:
  • Were you pleased with the work done?
  • Was the project completed on time?
  • Did the plumber give you a written warranty and guarantee his or her work?
  • Were there any unexpected costs that arose?
  • Would you hire this plumber again? If not, why?
A permit provides added assurance that the work is done correctly. Having this in place means an inspector will check the work your contractor or plumber does to ensure he or she did the job correctly. If you plan on putting your house or commercial building on the market, a real estate agent and prospective buyers will want to check any large work you did to make sure it was done properly.
A trustworthy plumber will have both commercial liability insurance as well as be bonded. The insurance and the bond protects the plumber from paying for any damages made to your house out of pocket. Having professionals that carry both of these policies can protect all of you from any mishaps that could occur while they work on your building.
