Myrtle Beach Dental Associates
This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to (and I have been to a lot because I am from California but have also lived in Massachusetts and Michigan). When I moved to Myrtle Beach my mouth was a mess because of my fear of dentists and then after time I was worried I would be judged for how much was wrong with my teeth after so many years.... not only did I feel great and unafraid, the staff is so amazing and friendly and WORKED with me every step of the way! They have me a personalized plan for my teeth with the dates and costs so I could plan ahead and I loved it so much I put it on my fridge! Dr. Higgins is so kind and patient and really wants to help stop the underlying cause of your tooth decay rather than just trying to make money off of your cavities! Even beyond that, I had a severe toothache over a weekend when the office was closed and got a personal phone call from Dr. Iseman who called me in an antibiotic and got me an emergency appointment to have it fixed... he also followed up AFTER I had already been seen to make sure I was no longer in pain! They have worked with me and my insurance to help me get the best out of my benefits and always call with reminders about appointments. I really cannot say enough good things about these guys... because they are so awesome I almost enjoy going to the dentist now

I have the greatest respect for Dr. Rearden and his entire staff, just moved here from Connecticut and my crown fell out.I felt comfortable from the moment I entered the office. The receptionist was courteous, pleasant and helpful as was Dr. Rearden and his entire staff. I would recommend him over anyone in Myrtle Beach, I did seek opinions of two other dentists which I will not throw under the bus; one tried to push dentures on me. I am one who does a bit of research when I'm considering anything, whether it's a dentist or a product. I picked Dr. Rearden out of quite a few others and am quite happy with the work and the price with Dr. Rearden. Both him and his staff of technicians are 'aces in my book' and I would definitely recommend his services over 'anyone' else in Myrtle Beach. Thanks again to everyone at Village Family Dental.

I have lived in Myrtke Beach for 5 years now , I struggled to find the right dentist until I met Dr. Ryan an her staff! The boys who once hesitated to go see their old dentist now looks forward to the friendly faces off the staff and the comfort they feel from the office setting- it is geared toward children , complete with flat screens at every chair giving your child a choice of netflix shows! I def feel like family when we visit an anyone else who is searching for the best care for your child's dental health - Search no further!!!

Skilled people, friendly, but it appears that $ is a key driver for treatment and insurance. Most offices will work with you on insurance, but we were not offered a choice on a basic cleaning vs a "maintenance" cleaning. Impact was $140 bill to us vs a $20 copay, and $50 more for them for what was basically the same cleaning. They were fully aware of the insurance limitations and would not attempt to work with us or even give us a choice. Moving to another dentist, but strictly for that reason, not for any other reason.

Sawgrass Pediatric Dentistry
If you are looking for a pediatric dentist, I couldn't think of any better place to go. The ladies at the office (both the staff, the hygienists, the dentist) were very nice and did the job that they were supposed to do with great care and accuracy. I was very pleased, and know that we have found "our dentist."

Dr. Jones and Haney do a great job. Dr. Jones filled a cavity for my daughter and she said she didn't even feel the needle go in when she was injected with the numbing shot.
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
