  • I'll never go anywhere else again

My grandmother and mother have gone to Dr Ortiz for many, many years, and I went there as a child.

I am now grown and have long since moved away, but I happened to need a new set of contacts the last time I was visiting my parents, and decided to see if they could see me on short notice.

The original Dr Ortiz had since retired, but his son has taken over. Not only were they able to see me quickly, but they spent extra time examining my eyes, due to their familiarity with my family history. The contacts that Dr. Tim prescribed were Toric lenses, which I had not worn before, as I had been going to Lenscrafter-type places for several years. My day to day corrected vision now is so much better than it was for years.

I will keep going to Dr Ortiz every time I come back to visit, even though I live over 1,000 miles away.

  • Not recommended!

Two of the doctors (father & son) diagnosed me with cataracts several years ago, sent me to a specialist who told me I needed reading glasses and did not have cataracts. To this day, I still do not have cataracts at age 50.
Three years ago, a different doctor diagnosed my mom with cataracts and sent her to a specialist, who told her she did not have cataracts. She is 73 and still does not have cataracts.
Earlier this year, my husband went to the same doctor as my mom and was diagnosed with macular degeneration. The first doctor brought in one of the doctor's that had misdiagnosed me years ago and this doctor also told my husband he had macular degeneration. They sent my husband to a retina specialist who examined my husband's eyes and asked him why he was wasting his (the doctor's) time. My husband explained what the two doctors had said and the specialist asked for their names. Upon learning the names (the doctor's office had never received any paperwork from Ortiz and therefore did not know who had referred them), the doctor, said ""That explains it. They don't know what they're doing down there. The only thing wrong with your eyes is age. You need reading glasses.""
