NTB National Tire & Battery
Just like the post made on 1/09/17 I was made another victim of NTB scams. When I went in to have my car inspected they told me I needed front brakes, rotors, a break fluid flush and break calipers. In total it was about $800 worth of labor and materials. The front desk gentleman named Chris Informed me I was unable to pass my inspection because my breaks were "metal on metal". I was fortunate enough that my boyfriend has a background on cars. When he took a look at my breaks his jaw dropped. Not only had the Suncrest Town Center NTB lied about my breaks being metal on metal but everything for the front end of my vehicle was fine. When I went into NTB I was unaccompanied by my boyfriend. This company targets women who know nothing about cars. They catch people who are in need of an inspection and corner them with an outrageous amount of work that must be done or they will not pass you. When explaining my car situation to my sister she too had a similar story with NTB and breaks. NTB is not a honest mechanic shop. When contacting corporate explaining the corrupt nature of the Suncrest Town Center location they had nothing to say. After further investigation, I found out the men in the shop who do the estimates receive commission on their work. Why would they not want to throw crazy service orders and just hope someone's doesn't take a second opinion. I took my car to another local shop where my car was in and out in 20 mins and they let me know my breaks were great just as my boyfriend had stated. I will be pursuing further outreach to save other women from being ripped off from NTBS unethical business model.

I can't evaluate their work since I don't know enough about car fixing, but in general they charge too much. They rip you off by overcharging parts and providing unnecessary services.

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I went in for a 6pm appointment for a basic state inspection (due to my regular shop being out of inspection stickers). Upon arrival I was told that they were running late and that they should have my car done in an hour or so. After waiting for almost two hours they finally moved my car from the parking lot into the garage, not five minutes later the mechanic came it to tell me that my car needed several things in order to be approved. He told me that the passenger side brake caliper wasn't retracting fully and it could cause it to lock up and cause an accident ( even tho it was spinning freely when up on the lift, he also told me that the brake pads on the side that was catching were totally worn out while the other sides pads "looked like new". He also said that due to the caliper being stuck I would need new rotors as well as a new caliper. He suggested that I got the repairs (totaling $700), done there saying " but you need to get your car inspected". I refused knowing that my brakes had just been checked not a month prior to this experience. I then went to my regular shop, with actual mechanics instead of a bunch of 18 year old know it alls. My mechanic removed the brakes and calipers and thouroughly checked them and insisted there was absolutely nothing wrong with anything. I have never been so blatenly conned in my entire life. I now know that it was a conn, luckily I was smart enough to get a second opinion. Never take your car here for anything, these are the most in-experienced lying mechanics I have ever dealt with, and I have dealt with plenty. Overall it was a horrible experience and I still wasted close to $200 on non- necessary work just to tell me that the mechanics at National Tire and Battery in Sun Crest Town Center were trying to make a quick buck and take advantage of me.

When I called about getting my van fixed, the person answering the phone was very pleasant and helpful! He told me who could tow it that would be the least amount of money, but still a reputable company. I could pay the towing bill with my total bill. Also, he looked at it within a day of getting it. I received a phone call before any work was completed. There were no surprises! I recommend this auto service!

This is not just 'another' car repair facility, this is a facility where there is passion and pride that encompasses every repair, big or small. I had a lamp repair, was guided on best practice for tire puncture, have scheduled some future maintenance. The time and extra care Skip delivered during our time of need, has led me to accept no other repair service, and all service should be at executed at this level.

This was not happened very recently, but I wanted to share my experience with this place with other people after I read other reviews. In my first visit, I went there for a state inspection. When they were checking my car in, they forgot to ask me about the registration card. Later on they pulled the car in, a staff was inside of my car and I was watching them. After about 15 minutes I figured out that they dug the inside drawers of my car, without asking me, and found my old registration documents from my previous home state and thought that my car has a fake registration. Note that they did not even asked me about the registration card at first! When they finally asked me about it I pulled it from my wallet and showed it. Then they found out that my car need new front joints and put a $1000 price to fix them. I canceled the inspection, went to somewhere else and made it fixed to half the price including the inspection. I never suggest this place to anyone, even for a basic oil change

Glotfelty Tire Center
Requested a quote for tires online. Went in to the location 3 days later and decided I wanted to get wheels also. Then they tell me that they can't give me the price they quoted me on the tires. I have the quote in writing and they refuse to honor it. Will never do business there again.

STAY AWAY DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE FOR ANYTHING THEY MEAN WELL BUT ARE INCOMPANT. Bought 4 tires almost one year ago which included one all wheel alignment within one year of purchase. I was impressed that they could align the car too. I took the car in to get tires rotated and balanced and then an alignment at this location : 411 sun rest towne center, Morgantown, WV. They rotated and balanced the tires and before they did the alignment I told the service manager that one of the tires was low on pressure by 10 lb. He says that is all checked when rotating tires and it will be fine. After the service I checked the tire pressure and is was still low. Took it back the next day and they said they found a metal object sticking in the tire so they fixed it. Then they aligned it again. I then drove the car home and around on the interstate with my family the next day. Upon checking the tire pressure it was 46 pounds. 40 is max. WARNING DO NOT GET OIL CHANGE OR ANY WORK DONE HERE.

The absolute worst customer service experience of my life. I was initially told I would get my vehicle back in 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks passed I was constantly told that it would be "another week or 2." Finally after nearly 10 weeks I get it back but of course some parts were missing because they failed to order them. Thankfully the missing parts did not affect the drive-ability of the vehicle. I wouldn't take a Matchbox car to this shop.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
