I'm currently pregnant with my first child. I've had some issues during my pregnancy. And the Morehead office of this practice will call me, and if I miss the phone call and call back right away they do not answer the phone. Every time I call in fact, theyou never pick the phone up. One evening I had one of the triage nurses call me and leave a message saying to call the office the next day. When I did, of course as usual no one answered the phone. I stopped by the office and they had no record that I had been called the previous evening and could not find the nurse that called me (she left her name). They asked me to have a seat and I waited for about 20 minutes. After waiting, the receptionist called me back up and said that they did not know where the nurse was, and that maybe she would attempt to call me later on in the day, but they couldn't tell me anything else. I was very disappointed by this experience with this office. And as many people as they have working there, someone needs to pick up the phone when the phone rings.

I have been going to Carteret OB GYN for several years, and I have been treated for numerous problems in addition to my Wellness visits. I always see Dr. Johnson, whom is my favorite doctor in my 61 years of life. She is kind, caring, and empathetic but always professional;considerate and on time and, if not, staff informs you and updates you; up-to-date on medical treatments and procedures; and offers to go the extra mile. Her smile puts you as ease and is so comforting! She is truly in the right field of work! The staff at Carteret OB GYN are all consciously polite, clean, and professional. I do sometimes feel the staff could be better aware of the patient file and do a better job of not wasting a patients' time. On occasion, with multiple visits over a short span of time, I have had to repeat informational requests and procedures. A nurse should read the file/computer before checking in a patient.

I am new to the area and am pregnant with my second child. I have had a wonderful experience with Carteret Ob-Gyn Assoc. The ladies at the front desk are welcoming, thorough, and told me that if I ever have to wait more than 15 minutes before being called back to let them know. The nurse staff has been so helpful, professional, and informative. I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with the insurance department to discuss the best way to pay for my pregnancy as I progressed. She set up an approximate budget to help me understand payments and how I could use my HSA so I wouldn't have as much money coming out of pocket. I have had a much better experience here than I did with my previous OB practice. I look forward to continuing to meet members of the physician team and am happy with my decision to choose Carteret OB-Gyn and Assoc!

This is my first review ever. I think very highly of this practice and had to share. I have had two successful pregnancies thanks to Carteret obgyn. I especially love dr mccallum, and dr vrdalis. But all the credit here goes to The newer dr Garrett. She saved me and my baby's life during my unmedicated child birth three months ago. Complications arised and she was there to make sure we both made it through. I will never forget having my baby and how scary it was but dr Garrett made everything go quick and easy as she could. HIGHLY recommended to anyone. Thank you dr Garrett and everyone at carteret ob and the labor and delivery nurse Mollie at carteret health care and postpartum nurse Brianna. Will never forget any of you ladies !

Our community is fortunate to have access to such a talented group of doctors and family nurse practitioners at Carteret OB GYN. They are always looking for ways to better serve their patients by adding additional services and procedures. I have been a loyal patient for over 30 years and value the relationship I have with my care provider, Marie Frey, FNP. Marie has always been friendly, understanding with any concerns I may have but most of all professional and knowledgeable. It provides me peace of mind knowing she is engaged not only with my gynecological care and needs but my overall well-being. I would highly recommend Marie and Carteret OB GYN to anyone.

I've been a patient of Carteret Ob Gyn Associates for 30 years. Dr. Thomas Vradelis has been my physician for more than 20 years. He's always very kind and attentive to my needs, keeps up with the latest treatments, and does his best to get the results I'm striving to achieve. He explains every procedure, diagnosis, and prognosis, and keeps me as comfortable as possible during procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Vradelis and his staff!!

I normally don't take the time to post a review but this office was so great that I had to! I was recommended to see Dr. Garrett by a friend of mine. I loved her! The check-in girl was super nice and so was the medical assistant. It was the best doctor's appointment I've ever had. I highly recommend this obgyn.

All of the providersade great. Tbey each take the time to listen to you and help you make the best decisions regarding your care. The clinical staff is helpful with keeping you informed with wait times and other questions about your appointments. They are easy to reach over the phone and can get scheduled quickly!
Tips & Advices
A child should see his or her pediatrician frequently during the first few years. Once the child reaches age 3, parents should schedule a doctor's visit at least once per year. Before that, however, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests parents arrange visits according to the following schedule:
  • 2 to 5 days old
  • 1 month old
  • 4 months old
  • 6 months old
  • 9 months old
  • 12 months old
  • 15 months old
  • 24 months old (2 years)
  • 30 months old (2.5 years)
No, parents should call 911, an emergency physician, or a pediatric emergency physician if a child suffers an acute illness or injuries. Doctors in these fields are more qualified than pediatricians to handle emergency situations.
A well-visit is a routine visit with a pediatrician to track a child's development, discuss medical or emotional concerns, and receive immunizations and medical advice.
Yes, pediatricians provide immunizations for infants and children up through 21 years.
No, pediatricians do not have to be board certified. They're only required to have a state license. However, certification indicates a dedication to studying pediatrics beyond the requirements.
