West, James L III, Dr
I started seeing Dr. Michael Cockrell in 2001, when I had problems with my right shoulder, he preformed surgery and I have had no more trouble with it. Throughout the last 16 years I have seen other doctors from this group and I would recommend them to family and friends. They are compassionate, caring, attentive and follow thru until you are satisfied with your results. I had back surgery 2016, with Dr. James West as the attending physician, he was the one I saw throughout my healing time. He made each follow-up a priority and attended each visit making sure I was doing well, he would not release me until both of us were satisfied with my recovery. I appreciate this group so much, hoping I will not see any of them in the near future, but if I do need an orthopedic doctor, I will continue seeing them. Sincerely,Sheila Croston of Summerdale, Alabama

The nurse was very attentive and helped me get ready to have my pictures taken by the Dr. Dr. Randy Proffitt was extremely professional and nice. I left there feeling good about myself and booked my surgery. I am getting it done two weeks from today! Wish me luck, I am so excited and know I'll look amazing!!!

Lyons, Michael B MD FACS
Dr. Lyons and his staff are wonderful. I have been his patient both for sinus issues and facial plastic plus he performed laser liposuction years ago and I love my results. He also keeps me feeling you and energized with Hormone therapy. I highly recommend this practice to everyone.

Herbert V Allen III MD T C
I would recommend Dr. Allen to anyone looking for a orthopedic. He has a wonderful bedside manner. I had been having problems with my back for over a year. I went to Dr. Allen and he found a break in my back. He has taken excellent care of me as his patient. He is not one of these in and out of the room doctors. He took his time with me and explained everything to me and my husband. Also his staff is very friendly and a great group of ladies. Laura

Diagnostic & Medical Clinic
My husband and I have been going to DMC for about 6 years and are very satisfied. Having so many specialists in one building is very convenient. Their lab is super fast. We first started going there when my husband became very ill, Dr. Whetstone showed true concern & worked until the issue was found. If it wasn't for him I don't think my husband would be here today.

Randy D Proffitt MD LLC
I had a great experience at Dr. Proffitt's office just the other day. Everyone was incredibly courteous and very professional. I would definitely recommend Dr. Proffitt to any person that needs any type of plastic surgery and I know he works on call at many hospitals - Providence, Springhill and Mobile Infirmary so he's always in practice with something!

Dr. James Knox Simpson III, MD
Very professional staff and he is wonderful. He removed polyps from my husband and has monitored him for past 6 years closely. I liked him and appreciated him explaining everything to me. He checked my colon too, although the procedure is not pleasant, they made me as comfortable as possible
Tips & Advices
Scoliosis is a disorder where the spine curves sideways. Most people develop the condition during the growth spurt before puberty. The cause of scoliosis is unknown and most cases are mild, but the rare severe instances can disable a person.
Orthopedic surgeons attend four years of medical school, then four to five years of orthopedic residency in a hospital. They must also be licensed and certified in orthopedic surgery by the state in which they practice.
The terms "orthopedic doctor" and "orthopedic surgeon" refer to the same profession. Related specialties include podiatrist, a doctor who works with the bones, tendons and ligaments in the feet, and a sports medicine physician, a doctor specially trained to treat athletes.
The cost of a visit to an orthopedic surgeon depends on the type of tests ordered and treatment given. For example, an MRI costs $500-$1,300. An initial consultation costs $100- $500, while anesthesia for a procedure generally ranges from $2,000-$4,000. Overall, an orthopedic surgery can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000.
During a consultation or first appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, the practitioner will ask the patient a variety of questions to understand the situation. The surgeon might ask about the patient's pain levels, medical history, and any prior injuries. Then, the surgeon will administer a physical exam and possibly schedule tests to better understand the problem. Possible tests include a stress test, x-ray, or MRI.
