Hillcrest Automotive
Just received my truck back from the kind staff at Hillcrest Automotive, which was my second time using them for major maintenance since I moved to Mobile one year ago. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with them. They are extremely accurate with their time estimates, which helps immensely when I only have one day to drop my truck off and get it back in the same day. They truly do treat my truck as if it were their own; recommending less expensive parts if they know the items are still of quality and recommending the more expensive part if they know it will be worth it in the long run. The technicians engage with you more than any other shop I've been to, and even sent me a couple of photos of items they were working on to ask if I wanted them replaced or not. You can take your vehicle to a quick in-and-out chain, or you can support your local, friendly business which is well represented by the folks at HA. For a business like this, their prices are still comparable to what you would pay at the seemingly "cheaper" alternatives. Thanks to everyone at HA for the great tech support and for making this customer feel at home in Mobile.

Bay City Tire & Wheel
I took my car to Bay City thinking that I needed new rotors. I dropped it off and went to work. They called me and told me that I didn't need new rotors but the current rotors could be turned. Turning the rotors is a cheaper option than getting new ones. They could've put new rotors on my car and charged me extra but are honest enough to not do that. I really appreciate everything that they do. I am a single female and and live in Daphne but I bring my car to Bay City because they are honest with me and don't try to run up a bill on me.

New Century Tires & Auto Repairs Inc
Jimmy and his guys provide honest and friendly service. You can send your wife to them and they will not have her terrified to leave the shop without some kind of expensive repair that is not needed. They are always busy but 9/10 times someone will walk out to greet you before you can reach their office door. Like most busy shops they like you to leave your car with them but if you are only getting new tires or a flat fixed, they stop what they are doing and get-er-done. They are proof that being honest and nice, a bussiness can thrieve.

New Century Tires & Auto Repairs Inc
I am a used auto dealer. They are always very courteous resonable and do great work. I have used other local tire stores for front end and tire related repairs. They by far are the best and are not greedy or sell happy. New Century Tires gets the job done and treats all customers equally. If I told my best friend about this place they would go. They know me and know I do not recommend anyone unless they are the best.

Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
