Spirit Of 76 Veterinary Clinic
I recently had to have surgery on my sheltie for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). My regularvet could not get her in for another week and a halfand I did not want to wait that long, consideringthe pain that she was in. So, judging from myprevious experience at spirit of 76 vet clinic, andknowing how professional and caring they were,I chose to have them do my sheltie's surgery.(I personally have a friend that goes here as well, andmy father does with his sheltie, chance).Dr. Seebard was the one who did the surgery on my sheltie and I have to say that he was really a wonderful doctor. He took the time toanswer any questions that I might have, and alwaysgot back to me prompty. This was a very traumaticexperience for me, as well as for my husband. You see, our dogs are our children and they meanthe world to us. Also, their prices were reasonableand the doctor even went out of his way for us,just to 'fit' us in for an appointment. And, he waskind enough not to charge us for the appointment,or office visit, because we needed something clarified. I would have to say that there is a sensethat when you walk in that door, that these peoplereally love animals and will do anything for them!~God Bless you for that~I was very impressed.Thankyou for everything.-Tammy Straube New Berlin

Alta View Veterinary Clinic
I moved from IL away from a wonderful veterinarian. Finding one in the Milwaukee area that seemed to care as much as the old vet did was hard. We found Alta View and I was happy. Granted I was not used to the "office visit" fees (as I have 4 dogs) but I understand the concept. The prices are truely reasonable and the doctors are all wonderful and really seem to care about what I feel is important for my dogs. Not the attitude "I'm just gonna do it cause I can". When I call I have ALWAYS been able to talk to a doctor, what a concept I cannot even get that attention with my physician. We recently lost one of our dogs and the care and compassion they showed and still are showing is a wonderful comfort. I reccomend this facility and these doctors to any pet parent that really wants to feel like your pet matters (and you too).

Alta View Veterinary Clinic
I want to start by saying that this is by far the best Vet Clinic around. I've been to several different clinics and i just could not find one that cared about my pets and how i felt. And this vet clinic is all loving, caring, respectful, and understanding! I couldn't ask for more. The doctors are just amazing they help me around my budget, yet still giving my pets the care they need. I feel comfortable here. Both Dr. Malueg and Dr. Helmbrecht are so caring and understanding and the vet staff, the receptionists there are all so warm and caring, they love pets and their owners. I recommend this clinic to all people who are looking for a great one of kind clinic that you will not see anywhere else.

Greenfield Veterinary Clinic
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the caring staff at Greenfield Veterinary Clinic. Our dog needed surgery and due to unknown genetic issues with our dog, she required much more care than originally planned. Additional surgeries required our dog to stay over 2 weeks in the care of the staff at Greenfield Veterinary Clinic. The attention they gave not only to our dog, but to my husband and I too, was invaluable. Dr. Sarah and Dr. Work took as much time as we needed when explaining procedures thoroughly and clearly so we could understand. The patience we were given by both the doctors and their caring staff was fantastic. If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would!

Park Pet Hospital
I had the good fortune to bring my Yorkie “Lolla” to Park Pet Hospital and also see behind the scenes. I Highly recommend them! There are no bill surprises; they are honestly looking out for the pets and clients best interests. You have to try this clinic for your pets, it was so worth the 1 hour drive for me to have these doctors as my veterinarian. Dr. Jacobs is a board-certified specialist in canine and feline medicine and surgery, He is the only ABVP certified practitioner in Milwaukee county. Along with Dr. Cathy Poehlmann and Dr. Hoppe they are so incredible skilled and compassionate. I love everyone their!

Bayshore Veterinary Clinic
I took my dog Trell to Bayshore Veterinary Clinic and I was worried sick cause he got a nasty cut under his paw. Man they took care my dog right away. He hed to stay overnight and it hurt my feelings but, I knew right away he was in the hands of some careing people cause dispite the cost, they worked with me and my insurance company and made me feel like I took one of my kids to the hospital. That's the kinda care you wanna see ur pet in and they showed they're care. Thanks Perry and the Doctors and staff of Bayshore Veterinary Clinic. God bless you.

West Burleigh Veterinary Clinic
I love Dr. J. I take all five of pits and 1 chihuahua and my moms dog. We drive from Waukesha because the prices are reasonable. He even gives me prices breaks for having more than one pet. I been going here for years. When my Ice had puppies he gave her an ultrasound so I would know how many pups to expect. I have high expectations and this place meets it, it's also very clean I just was there resently in May 2017.

Advanced Veterinary Care Clinic
Hello, I brought my 100lb pit bull Sparky to get his shots and my experience there was amazing. I was very nervous as Sparky can be intimidated easily, but all the nurses were extremely kind and the Doctor was informative and awesome. He took great care of Sparky. Sparky was happy during his visit and loved the treats. Thank you doc and your staff for everything. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Center For Animal Health
I trust Dr.Z with my cats! Both my cats have had various issues and complications and he has proven to have an amazing amount of knowledge and love for animals. I Love the fact that his prices are great, he is direct and upfront with you about the animal and his hours are flexible. I drive quite a distance to get to him, but he is worth it!!!
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
