Los Jefes Tortilleria & Grill
We recently went for Taco Tuesday 5 tacos for $5. This was our 2nd time coming here and had great service both times but this time really stuck out. Our waitress name was Loany and she was absolutely wonderful!! I can't praise her enough for her vibrant personality and excellent service. She constantly checked on us, refilling chips, drinks, whatever we needed. The food was as delicious as before. Everything just tastes so fresh. I look forward to returning soon. Yummm!

Moe's Southwest Grill
Menu seems worded a bit confusing but one if the Staff members aaked if I had any questions about it. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl. One member made the bowl while another kept trying to up sell other types of meats instead of what I kept saying which was chicken. I became annoying when he kept saying "try the turkey, try the turkey" then he seemed a little set back when I replied "I don't even like turkey". The chicken wad cut into boring square chunks, extra for queso cheese? Tomatoes mixed into the corn? $9 for a tiny burrito bowl definitely not worth the money yet this is a prime lovation for Mardi Gras parades being on the route.

Centroamericana
I went to centroamericana last night with two friends. Friend 1 didn't like the food the last time she had gone there, so we ordered a platter that had a little bit of everything on it so that she would be able to decide what to order. At the same time, I wasn't feeling well, so the platter ended up being a good idea because it was so large. After the waiter took our order, we overheard the owner of the restaurant saying, "wow, one plate for 3 people? I would be so embarrassed." After hearing this rude comment, we decided not to order anything else even though my friends were still hungry. We tipped the waiter because he had been very nice to us, and then proceeded to ask for the owner to voice our concerns. Friend 1 stated very politely that she had come to centroamericana only because I had insisted, because she didn't like the food last time but was willing to try it out again;however, because of his rude and unnecessary comment, would definitely not be coming back. The owner stated that we should not be concerned, because he was talking to the waiter, not us. Friend 2 stated that he should be ashamed of his comment, especially when he does not know us nor the reason behind ordering only one plate, and also because we could hear his comment regardless if he meant us to or not. The owner began to yell at us, "well maybe I did want you to hear. YOU should be the ones ashamed! You come into MY restaurant with my GREAT service! I gave you all napkins and you only order one plate? You should have eaten at home!" Significantly surprised by his response and complete lack for an apology, Friend 2 raised her voice and stated that we would not be returning and that he should be ashamed to be the owner of a restaurant and treat people the way that he did. He then came around the counter, shooing us out of the door yelling "come mierd* estupida, no regresen!!!" Considering that my 2 friends are Latin American and he disrespected us like this, especially when there are many other Latin American restaurants that we could have gone to, he should re-evaluate the way he runs his business. A simple apology would have sufficed, especially if he cherished his reputation. Definitely will not ever be returning!!!

Casa Garcia Mexican Restaurant
As someone who has been lucky enough to sample several types of Latin cuisine and lived in Texas for nearly 20 years, I could conservatively say that I am a connoisseur of this type of food. Having said that, 90% of the food at this restaurant is awful. There are some good things, but those bright shining dishes are few and far between. That coupled with the fair service and an imbecilic owner prove that the only thing keeping this place open is the memory of better food. My grandparents, parents and most of my family have been going to this restaurant long before it got new owners and a horrible food makeover. Still to this day, a group of about 15 of us go every few months, but hopefully, today was our last visit. Some ladies had purchased a gift card and not only were they told it wouldn't work and berated by the owner, this "man" continued to walk around the place mumbling obcinities and telling each of his wait staff about how we were crazy. He did NOTHING to remedy an easy problem. His arrogant attitude is sure to sink this business eventually. DO NOT GO HERE.

Casa Garcia Mexican Restaurant
We've got to go to Casa Garcia, they have the best bean dip & nachos, absolutely free when you are seated. Ask for Bernie, he's the best waiter.

La Fritanga
Authentic homestyle Nicaraguan food. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Nicaraguan restaurant in Metairie after an internet search. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I arrived to find a menu full of only Nicaraguan dishes! Some are childhood favorites and others personal dislikes. This is a small, hole-in-the-wall, takeout place. I was assisted by a pleasant young woman and ordered two items: the pork, and steak with onions. You have a choice of sides and I chose the rice and beans and fried plantain. Both meats were tasty but I liked the steak better. The rice and beans, called “gallopinto”, was delicious and prepared in authentic Nicaraguan style. The fried plantain is served whole but I prefer it fried in slices. The place has a couple of tables and chairs but it lacks AC so you are better off with take out. I liked the food and will definitely be back to try other items on their varied menu. I recommend it.
