Bucktown Dental Care
From Brandy PigeonI can honestly say, I have never considered going to the dentist, an enjoyable experience. It typically means waiting in a lobby for an extended period of time - time which I then use to get myself overly nervous and anxiety filled, thinking about whatever procedure awaits me....then I went to see Dr. Cresson at Bucktown Dental Center and my attitude about going to the dentist has been forever changed. I've been three times, and each time the wait was practically non-existent, and the entire staff is friendly, patient, and qualified. The technicians who get everything ready before Dr. Cresson comes in the room are so sweet, you can't help but forget to be nervous. Each time Dr. Cresson comes in and sits in the chair to begin, he has a smile on his face and puts you at ease. I can't say enough about the care I've received from BDC and couldn't be happier with the smile they've helped me achieve, through regular dental care, and with the help of the cosmetic dentistry that I've had done by Dr. Cresson. Going to the dentist is an unavoidable task everyone must endure; but the people at Bucktown Dental Center definitely make the environment relaxing, and do an amazing job of making sure your visit is as quick and painless as possible. A+ all around. Sent from Brandy Pigeon

The staff was very pleasant will at the office. During checkout with the dental assistance voiced my concerns about the medicine prescribed to my 17yr old daughter. He adviced me to not get one of medicines fill and the Dr. would call another in it's place. Well, needless to say that did not happen so I called the office to see what happened maybe they sent it to the wrong pharmacy. While speaking to the office manager she adviced me my daughter was not in any pain and should follow the directions for taking the meds. Needless to say my child is stiil in severe pain, nauseated and is seeing spots. So while in the office they are wonderful but if you need something after you leave their office they are very unprofessional. I find her comment about my daughter not being in pain after having two wisdom teeth cut and pulled out of her jaw is equal to me telling a mother in labor to calm it down you are not in any pain.

Sherwood Dentistry
After having a less that awesome experience at another dental office a year and a half ago, I found this dental office from a Google search. Dr. Sherwood was awesome and answered all my questions. The hygienist was extremely informative and very patient. And, the receptionist was very warm and friendly. Honestly, I don't even expect this level of service around the New Orleans area. It's hard to find, and I was pleasantly surprised. The old school methodology of treating you like a person instead of a number was refreshing. Dr. Sherwood and his hygienist (I apologize for not remembering her name) were meticulous, thorough, and did a great job. HIGHLY recommend. :) I will be back!!

My experience was fabulous. I am grandma visiting for the first time. Granddaughter told me it was fun and you can play there. The ladies at front desk were delightful and welcoming.Anthony (Dental Assistant) was very professional and had her taking xrays with no problem. We shared stories about traveling. The dentist got cooperation from her and was kind and thanked her. Jessica gave her brushing instructions, cleaning, and shared family stories. Thanks to her mom for choosing such a great place. Thanks again Anthony for letting me know how to send my comments. This place is awesome.

The hygienist Ashley was a LIFESAVER!! My son Bodhi had a prior traumatic dental experience and was shaking-level-scared and Ashley instantly calmed him down by singing him the ABC's while cleaning his teeth! He was laughing, proud and clean by letter Z! I would def reccommend this place to anyone with a child who doesn't love the dentist, or does! I was scared to bring him back, but now I am not worried...I'll just make sure Ashley is working that day! I am happy I learned a way to make brushing teeth fun for him!!!

I took my son to his virst dental appointment and I enjoyed the appointment like a kid in a candy store. The entire staff from the Lobby to the area where they see the kids was amazingly friendly. They made me feel like family. They played with my son and he was so tickled at the lady that cleaned his teeth, He laughed the entire time. The staff must really love what they do because it really showed in the interactions they had with each other.

Dr DiLeo is a rare find these days a dentist who takes his practice and his patients personally! He takes time to explain the procedures and is always responsive to my questions. Terry and Paula are the best. Easy to talk to and always willing to go the extra mile to help me out. The office isn't much to look at but I'll trade that any day for a dentist who keeps up with the latest techniques and takes personal care of me.Thanks Dr DiLeo

Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
