I am a new patient and was recommended by another doctor to this doctor and I called set up an appt. they faxed the new patient paperwork back, they check me in and I only sat there for 5 mins I was to the back and had gone thru all the check in vitals including a ekg in the office. I saw the practitioner and she was very through and personable and answered all of my questions. would recommend new patients if you are looking for a new doctor.

Givens, Vanessa M, MD
I've had such a wonderful experience with Dr.Givens, she's been very attentive and really listens to any concerns I have no matter how small. The staff at the office is always polite and friendly which makes me feel welcomed and at ease every visit. Dr.Givens has been very informative and explains anything I don't quite understand about my health or prescriptions. I will definitely continue to see her as long as I'm in the Memphis area!

Southwind Medical Specialists
2 visits, neither was very good. First trip doctor interrupted me several times and was not listening, as she continued to ask me about my fever when I told her I didn't have one. 2nd trip I waited 45 minutes past my appt time and finally asked for my money back. Only redeeming quality about the place was the nurse that took my blood pressure/heart rate/etc. She was very friendly and courteous. Won't be going back.

Williams Glenn Blake
I chose Dr. Glenn Blake Williams as a second opion for my child. Dr.Williams was very kind and very understanding. He explained everything to my husband and I and answered all questions we had. He is one of the nicest doctors i have met in a long time. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a well bedside mannered doctor.

I love Dr. Givens. With my first pregnancy she has been very thorough and encouraging with questions. I don't hesitate to call her office if I think of something at home and she has been very attentive in clinic. I would recommend her services to any of my friends or family seeking obstetrics or gynecology care.

Hamby, Donald L, MD
Dr Hamby is a forward thinking diagnostician in his field of OB/GYN. He recently performed my robotic hysterectomy. One week post-op I was back to my walking routine...two weeks post-op back to my work-outs...and feel great 6 weeks post-op!

The cleaning session was excellent. The dental hygienist was both professional and courteous. Definitively a great asset to the team. Excellent leadership in the choice of staff of that quality.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
