Between a week long experience... promised call backs never done. The first salesman should work as a pyschic cuz he just pulled a car up and told me a price three times what I told him. He claims my credit is -1 and showed me some jimmied report. When I pulled up my report, from the same company I was at a 542. Needless to say I walked out. They finally called me a day later, asking me what happened. I said when I buy a car I buy from a car saleman. Not a psychic. They try to get me back in the NEXT day and I told the new car salesman mike Houston that ill come in when u tell me u can get me in a car in my budget range... he says he can't sell a car over the phone. :-\\:-\\ who buys a car over the phone??? I said I was negotiating, and I wont spend another four hours for nothing. After such horrible service, I call back to talk to the high up manager and asked if they sell cars? Cause it doesn't seem like it. Once again put on hold instantly but he did manage to give me the sales manager. She, Terry, may be the only one who assisted in such horrible service environment. We negotiated over the phone and she had a few cars she can put me in. I agreed to go back, after working with her, she pawned me back to Mike Houston.... the second salesman from earlier that day. She had me at 315 a month and somehow it turned to 353 a month. Not to big but still. Finally, four hours later, I had a new car. One of the key alarms didnt work so mike told me to come back tomorrow when the service department is in. I went home, went to bed. Drove to work and my license plates they put on weren't secured all the way, (wrong screws). With a dangling plate scratching my bumber you can imagine my frustration. I go back the next day to fix the key and mike said he called and left a voice message saying I had to come early. (He didn't call) I said i'll come back the next day (today/saturday) in the early morning. Now today he says theyll charge me 53 bucks for the key guts. I said I'm not going to pay for that. He said I get worked up too much and needed to calm down. I took him outside, explaining the plates were about to fall off. He admitted to putting them on. I then showed him the scratches and he goes on defensive mode. I told him having spent six days of coming into this place and having such things to happen is ridiculous and I will post a review online. He then went on a rant of how he doesn't care about social media and that im a difficult person to deal with. Funny thing is I know I can be an difficult but this was me on my best behavior. Wasn't rude, just went over his head back to Terry, which again he didn't like. He comes back with a paper titled "we owe". Told me to sign this paper and I said again, I'm not paying for it. He goes on another rant about me being me and needing to calm down. I told him he is too emotional, I was being blunt and to the point, "we" owe is a vague term and we means you and I. I will read this document and then sign. Now I have to wait for a call sometime next week to pick up a new key. Regardless, the service, from what I saw, is the worst I have EVER seen. Considering I have dealt with alot of dealerships for my shipmates in the navy and know their tactics, worked at a car dealership for a few years, bought a few as well, and attended many classes on the art of selling and marketing. I feel like they don't like playing by their own rules and dont like dealing with smart consumers. Two star rating barely. If it wasnt for Terry, it would of been a one star. (SIDE NOTE... A HUGE NASTY BUG THE SIZE OF A PINKY WAS CRAWLING AT ME IN THEIR WAITING ROOM AND I WAS THE ONE WHO HAD TO PICK IT UP AND THROW IT AWAY. 30 EMPLOYEES ON THE FLOOR)

Pep Boys Auto Parts & Service
Last year around this time of year, I was stranded on Lincoln Hwy and Cicero in the parking lot of some trip mall. Being from the North side of Chicago I had absolutely no idea what to do but ask around for help. I called several places, including two tow truck services that basically stated they couldn't get to me to help figure out what was wrong with my car until after two hours or so from the time I called. I was so upset cause I knew no one in that area. So I called Pep Boys and Mike answered. I let him know the situation I was in being unsure of my whereabouts and what was wrong with my car. He volunteered to come to where I was at and assist me. I waited no longer than 10 minutes from the time I called when he arrived and he immediately figured out what was wrong with my car, apparently my driver side back tire was loose and I was driving on the highway like that. :'( He went back to work to get the necessary tools he needed to fix the problem. I was completely grateful for his customer service and willingness to assist me when I really needed it the most. Now-A-Days, I'm more familiar with the area due to my employment in the surrounding area and need some repairs to be done to my car and I completely did not hesitate to call upon Mike.Customer Service is very important to me. I feel if I work hard for my money, I would like to be treated a certain way when I chose to spend my money at any location, whether it be a restaurant or an auto service store. I was able to get that on that day, and sometimes you just have to be grateful for people who are willing to go that extra mile to show they care, even if its just to tighten a loose tire, LOL! Thanks Mike for keeping it real. See You Soon! :))

Hawkinson Nissan
As a former Finance and Insurance professional with Ford and Honda in the 1990's, I feel I can tell with with certainty that Hawkinson Nissan is several bars above any dealer I have done business with. I have owned over 30 new cars with six different brands and this is the first time since my first car I am excited to pickup a new car - a Nissan Rogue.Ben, Taijah and the entire staff demonstrated patience for over three hours and let me walk the lot, show papers from what I thought was the best deal and let me transact at my own pace. I'm not an easy buyer but Ben handled my concerns perfectly. I you are foolish to buy a Nissan anywhere else in the Chicagoland area! Lastly, I researched Honda, Toyota, Chevy, Ford and Hyundai before stepping foot at Nissan. I found the Nissan product, and I've driven them all, to be head and shoulders above others in price value, safety features and awesome interior comfort and exterior appearance. There is a quality model for nearly any price point and budget.I back my own review by telling you I referred my own daughter September 4th and helped her buy a Sentra SR with excellent hands free Bluetooth and Nissan Connect navigation. As a Dad, I'm sleeping at night! They made her first new car experience as memorable as my own.

Planet Honda
I came to Planet Honda with an intent to look at a used vehicle and Jessica sent me I go on the vehicle I was I interested in and when I came to drive it I was honestly impressed by the staff but not so much with the vehicle. My salesman Ash on the other hand was amazing. He showed us a few vehicle's and finally brought out one based on my needs and my boyfriend's and we decided to go with a 2015 Honda Civic with all the needs between the two of us. We have had the Auto Guard and a remote start serviced in our new purchase and we are very happy with the service. I would recommend Planet Honda to each person I know. Service and Sales are oustanding. A HUGE thank you to Ash for helping us.

Hi, went in to look at used vehicle, was pre-approved for a auto loan already. When Semni, hope I'm spelling her name right, suggested that we go for a lease with their fiance company. So we gave it a shot and needles to say everything worked out fine! She gave us the truth throughout the whole process! No unexpected pricing, she was very professional & knew overall what she was talking about when it came to the vehicle we were impressed... outstanding Service!!! The only thing we had to wait a long time for fiance too many ppl ahead of us. Other than that she really deserves a rise! Job well done! Happy Customer with what we purchased....

The Good - the salesman helped us find a used car in our price range. That took about an hour including test drives. The bad - it took 5 hours to complete a cash deal, they tried to sneak in that $300 window etching scam, and only gave us one set of keys (not even a valet key). Next day the stereo quit working and I did not receive a response when I inquired if it would be covered under the warranty (another dealership is handling the repair). In summary they claim to be different from other dealerships but they are not - you leave with the feeling you were given a bad deal and once you leave with your new purchase you are on your own.

Planet Toyota
Bought a Prius to replace the one totaled a few weeks prior. I came to dealership with a price that Consumer Reports said that dealership would honor and they did, without any hassles. I think I payed a fair price for an exceptional car. Business manager and salesperson stayed two hours past closing to close the deal. Very professional!

Tips & Advices
Depending on the part and its overall quality, a good amount of money can be saved by purchasing aftermarket parts versus OEM parts. But aftermarket parts that are low in price might also be lower in quality and could do more harm than good to your car, or they may need to be replaced more frequently than a more expensive counterpart. This could lead to saving some money in the short term, but spending more than anticipated in the long term.
The type of tires being purchased is the most significant determinant of their price. SUV tires are more costly than average car tires. And high-performance tires are more costly than economy grade tires. On average, standard tires for an average-sized vehicle are around $100 per tire. Standard tires for an SUV are around $150 and pick-up truck tires are about $200 on average. Some dealers offer discounts if purchasing more than one tire.
Car inspections typically take about an hour. However the wait time can be longer depending on how busy the shop is. Call ahead for an appointment to avoid long wait times.
Depending on the manufacturer, certain aftermarket parts can be just as reliable as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. But one item within a vehicle, like oil filters for instance, could have multiple manufacturers and there could be inconsistencies in quality among them.
Costs of replacing a windshield can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors:
  • Vehicle make and model
  • How much of the cost insurance will cover
  • Whether the windshield installers come to your location or you bring the vehicle to them
  • Standard service costs of the windshield installers
Generally, newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
