Chapman's Tree Service Inc.
Chapman’s Tree Service: It takes a lot to impress me, and I am thoroughly impressed. First off, Todd Chapman is as honest as the day is long and will not sugar-coat anything, but instead tell it like it is and I like that. He knows about trees, knows if they are sick and in need of taking down or just need a trimming here and there. There is none of that typical good ol’ boy attitude in him, but just practical common sense relating the facts and he will not nickel and dime you, but instead surprise you with an honest, reasonable, and very fair estimate. Melissa in the office will keep you informed as to when your service can be scheduled and they will arrive at your property on time. And then there is the crew that comes to perform the miracle. Bobby, the foreman is amazing and every one of his crew is friendly and conscientious, careful not to damage any of your plants or shrubs and each knows exactly what he is doing, and they work together like a well-oiled machine. It’s worth getting out the lawn chair and a packed lunch just to watch them do their thing; they have it down to a science and you will be amazed at how quick and thorough they are, how agile their tree climber is - like a spider with a chainsaw, and how strong each of them is carrying off heavy tree trunks over a shoulder that I couldn’t even budge one end of. And they clean up after themselves, leaving your property pristine like they were never here. Yes, I recommend them and if I need a tree service again, they will be my only call.

Carlos Tree Svc
Carlos Tree Service clear cut a lot with a permit to only remove 5 trees. The lot is partially in flood plain and they went into the stream buffer. When a neighbor asked the tree service why they were clearing illegally, they told the neighbor that they would not be paid unless they did so. This has caused neighbors downstream to flood and has created a serious problem!

Americut Tree & Landscape
These guys are OK. Never ask Americut to grind the stumps though - Flavio will overcharge you big time. He will call another contractor and charge you twice as much. Use the same guy for cheaper: K&M Stump Grinding 770-710-1124.

Richmond Tree Experts
They came to our neighbors house to cut down 2 trees and did a great job at that part, but in the process they broke the concrete curb to the sewer out front. Its been 2 months and its still not fixed. Every time we call we get the run around. We live in a cul-du-sac and 2 of our neighbors saw them break it! I would have no beef with them about their tree work, but they have screwed us over trying to get them to fix something they broke! Very disappointed in their customer service!!!! :-(
Tips & Advices
Do your due diligence and always ask for proof of insurance and certification before agreeing to any work. You will also want to be on the lookout for telltale signs of scams and be cautious of any company that:
  • Will not provide you with a certificate of their insurance policy or only has general liability coverage
  • Declines to give you a written estimate for the job
  • Gives you bids that either seem very low or very high
  • Contacted you out of the blue to see if you needed their services
  • Has complaints against it from business bureaus in your area
  • Asks for payment before starting work
  • Doesn't have a fixed physical address
Tree service companies are also great places to get your wood if you happen to have a fireplace. Many tree businesses offer free delivery and stacking of hardwoods, such as maple or birch. These can make for the best firewood because they burn slowly and don't produce as much smoke as other types.
If you want to add to the greenery in your yard but you're concerned about the right species to plant or where to put it on your property, seek the advice of an arborist.
If a storm hits and damages your residence, a tree service professional is usually on your list of people to call for help after first responders and your insurer. A professional service can completely remove a tree or just prune and saw off its branches if a storm damages a tree. After sawing or destroying the tree, professionals can then remove any of the dangerous debris from your yard by hauling it off.
Some bugs burrow through the bark and damage hardwood and softwood trees. Depending on the species of trees in your yard and the region of the country you live in, aphids, the infamous emerald ash borer or other pests could destroy your healthy trees.
