I moved into pennington pointe in November of 2014. The building is fairly aged. The windows are very drafty which results in high gas bills in the winter and high electric bills in the winter. It's is bitterly cold in the winter. Very bad insulation. The electrical outlets are dangerous: sparks would literally fly when I plugged in anything. You have to enter the apartments through an inside entry way to access your apartment, and hallways constantly smelled like weed. I overlooked the fake plants potted at the entrance, the unkept grounds, the rundown carpet in the halls and the pile up of garbage. I was almost content to residing there because the square footage was decent. I even tolerated the bugs. I tolerated the noise. I tolerated the (again) embarassing weed smell in the hallways. I tolerated the high utility bills. I could not tolerate when my rent money was stolen from their rent office they penalized me! My rent was stolen in September. The leasing office informed me that I shouldn't worry because they were going to resolve the matter. I paid the balance in october and I was informed that I had a credit of $511 in writing via email, three days after the rent was due. Once November came, the leasing office changed management and informed me that I owed them another $500. Despite the fact that I had it in writing that they informed me there was a $511 credit, they said I didn't understand how credit works and I still owed. All the while, I'm a single parent, yet cooperate interest trumps upholding your word. The leasing agent informed me rhat she saw the credit and would call her manager to inquire on the "error" of why it was nit notated in the system. After talking to hee manager, she informed me that i had to pay the additional amount. She told me and I quote "$400 is not a lot of money". I couldn't believe it. This company is full of liars. They promised me that i had no balance. I have an email confirming that I had a credit on Oct 6th after the rent was fully paid on the 3rd. Honestly for your credits sake, DO NOT APPLY HERE. They are liars. They do not uphold their word even in print.
I was a resident in Ashton Arbors as well. I got out when I couldn't take it anymore! During my stay, I saw a lot of things that completely upset me. I could not believe the level of immaturity of the residents and management staff. When I initially came to look at the apartments, the management team was incredibly nice. However, after I moved in, their attitudes completely changed. They became complacent and uncaring when it came to residents' concerns regarding maintenance in the units.I see the outside of the building being worked on regularly. But, whenever it rains, mold and mildew shows up around within the units and common areas. Also, when I submitted a maintenance request, it took the staff 3 months to correctly repair the situation. During this length of time, I was unable to use anything in my home. And there are constant complaints when someone washes or cleans up their home "after hours". Apparently, doing this disturbs the other residents. But, these are people who do not work or are retired. How is this disturbing them? And my family never felt comfortable visiting. The residents constantly complained about grandchildren, even those who were being watched.I tried calling their corporate offices in regards to the favoritism and lack of professionalism from the staff. It was like calling on them. Nothing was done to correct the situation. I am so happy to get out of there. The female residents fought over the available males, the manager has favorite residents who tattle like everyone are children. All in all, an absolutely ridiculous environment. So please beware before moving in there!
CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE! No complaints about the apartment layout or the maintenance staff but they have THE WORST office staff one could imagine and the amenities you that supposedly come with the complex or ones that you pay extra for aren't even worth it!The office staff acts like they're doing you a favor by assisting when you come into the office. Turnover is SUPER high and turnaround on messages left at the office is HORRIBLE and sometimes non-existent. Even from their corporate offices in California... Most of the maintenance staff is pleasant but some of the things they keep fixing, have to be addressed on more than one occasion, especially with water (and water damage related) issues. The apartment and car break-ins have become a NIGHTMARE and even the cops have commented that they need to invest in better security protocols. The "security" gate is ALWAYS broken. They used to have a guard shack but never replaced it after someone hit it with their car. They have several impromptu rules that are not supported by visible signage that they try to enforce-and it leaves us as residents frustrated. I used to love living here (mainly for the space), but now I feel bad that I ever referred this complex to anyone else. AVOID this complex if you want decent customer service, a real security feature, working amenities, and consistent good practices.
