Marietta Eye Clinic - Kennestone Office
Had a great experience with Dr. Byron Long and the staff at Marietta Eye Clinic. I recently required an eye procedure that needed to be performed by an oculoplastic specialist and after much research and consideration chose Dr. Long as my surgeon. At my pre-op appointment he performed a thorough exam and then talked with me for an extended period to answer all of my questions and make sure I understood everything that was being discussed and recommended. Dr. Long’s staff then took additional time to review my pre-op and post-op instructions and gave me a clear overview of how the surgery center process would work on the day of my procedure.I won’t go into a lot of details about my surgical experience beyond saying that I am absolutely delighted with the results. I had been warned beforehand to expect bruising and swelling and even a moderate amount of pain after the procedure was completed. Instead, I experienced minimal bruising and swelling and only required Tylenol for a couple of days to handle some mild discomfort. I will say that I followed Dr. Long’s post-op instructions to the letter, with the key being regularly placing ice packs on my eyes the first few days. I also believe that Dr. Long’s precise and gentle surgical techniques played a large role in keeping post-op issues to a minimum. In addition, both Dr. Long and his nursing staff called me after my procedure to make sure that I was healing well and to answer any questions that might have arisen. At my post-op follow-up appointment, Dr. Long removed my sutures and again, took as much time as needed to discuss my procedure and outline what I needed to do over the next few days and weeks to ensure that I had an optimal outcome. I was very impressed with both Dr. Long’s skill as a surgeon and his warm bedside manner and would highly recommend him to anyone in the Atlanta area in need of an oculoplastic surgeon.

I am very pleased with the service and improvement in my Vision from Marietta Eye Clinic. I can read, see and drive again with confidence. My story. Two years ago in the bright California desert sun, I had headaches and the signal from my right eye so interfered with the left that it was just easier to close my eyes. Soon after returning to Georgia, I set an appointment with Dr. Thurswell at Marietta Eye Clinic. I was referred to Dr. Cohen. I suffered from cataracts and Fuch's [be careful how you pronounce Fuch's] dystrophy in both eyes. I started eye drops and soon had right eye surgery to correct both conditions and wore a contact lens [thank you Dr. Russel] in the right eye. My vision went from two lines below the big E to better than20/60. An incredible improvement. The left eye had cataract surgery after the right eye healed. Within a few days my left eye I vision went from thebig E to 20/40, without glasses or contacts. I can read from inches away to far, far down the highway. With glasses the left eye can achieve 20/20. After wearing glasses for 26 years I am delighted to be done with them. No more fogging or rain drips Sight goes away slowly and the change from day to day is minimal, then one day you get out of bed and can't see much of anything. But it can be restored in my situation almost overnight. I typically don't comment on things but vision is so important. How could I not share?

I received LASIK at Marietta Eye Clinic 2 months ago. I have to say I am very pleased with my results. The staff is very friendly and my experience was very pleasant. I was extremely satisfied with the level of attention I received from the actual surgeon. Not only did I see him at my first visit but every time after. He was always making sure I was satisfied with my outcome and showed excitement with my results. I thought it was really neat seeing him on my 1 day post op and having him “congratulate” me on my new set of eyes. I never thought I would have such crisp clear vision like a do now. I will ONLY return to Marietta Eye Clinic for my eyes. It’s hard to find Doctors that you can really trust… not only with yourself but with your eyes. I HAVE FOUND THEM! Highly recommend Marietta Eye Clinic for not only LASIK but every kind of eye care need.

Horizonz Realty & Property Management
I am the current President of my board for my HOA in Lilburn, Ga. When we voted to have Horizonz manage our community, it was the best decision we made. For years prior we thought we had a good management company, but I won't reveal the name of that company as we are trying to forget them and the many ways they bamboozled us for so much money. Once Horizonz came aboard we saw an immediate change in our budgeting and community affairs. They have better vendors and they are always on top of any issues we have, which aren't many anymore. Not to bore you with a lengthy review I will get straight to the point to be made. Hands down I would recommend this company to any friend who lives in a community with an HOA. They are very affordable and you will get the best bang for your buck. They always go above and beyond. Thank you so much Horizonz.

I am going to give some feedback on this company. I was referred to them by a good friend of mine because our community was self-managed. We were in desperate need of a management company. I gave them a call and they emailed me some information and I gave them a call back and set up a meeting. All went well, actually all went very, very well. We really needed to get some collection processes in play from old assessments that haven’t been paid in a couple years. That was our main concern. They have a collections department that was very reasonably priced and they took affirmative action and we are seeing results now as we speak. So although we have hired them and it’s only been a few months we are seeing the change in the community and some change in the HOA Bank account. I would say give them a shot. You won’t regret it.

A few weeks ago, I visited Marietta Eye Clinic for the first time and found it to be a WONDERFUL clinic. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted with a friendly "Hello" from the front desk person. Then, after I filled out my new patient forms, I was escorted to the waiting area. The doctor was so wonderful. He was very friendly and did a thorough check of my eyes. (I had chronic pink eye that just would not go away... turned out to be a virus instead of pink eye.) I had been to my primary care physician several times and could not shake this "pink eye." Marietta Eye Clinic's doctor cured it with one visit! These docs know what they are doing.I am so sorry to say that I can't remember the docs name... but he is awesome! They are friendly and know what they are doing.

I just wanted to leave some feedback for this company because they are actually the best management company I have dealt with. To sum it all up, we have just signed on with this company to manage my HOA and within 4 months we are already seeing change and a positive response in the community. They are going above and beyond to help are community bounce back. They also have a collections department that works. Literally they are making progress in collecting pass due assessments from homeowners who have failed to pay for a year or 2 in our community. I would recommend you give this company a shot. It is well worth it. They definitely do some quality work.

Gardner, Alan M MD
My husband and I are both patients at Gardner Dermatology and have seen both the PA (Mike Kelleher and Dr. Gardner). The staff is extremely friendly from the front office staff to the medical assistants in the back. After the first initial visit with Dr. Gardner, my husband had to schedule a surgery to remove a pre cancerous place. My husband was able to schedule the surgery quickly with Dr. Gardner. I am also a client in the spa (Gardner Med Spa) - which I love. All the ladies are very professional and knowledgable about their services and all the different products they carry.I would recommend this practice to anyone. I am very happy with them.

My experience has been terrific! I have been to many psychiatrists over the years and Dr. Banov has been the most thorough and progressive doctor I have ever seen. He offered traditional treatment options but also reviewed a number of natural treatment options I could try as well. I had to call on several occasions and he was responsive and empathic. Unfortunately managed care has forced many of these doctors out of doing therapy but he referred me to a colleague who I work with in counseling. I am so much better than I have ever felt and can recommend this practice without reservation.

I have been going to Dr. Proctor for years now. Dr. Proctor and Brandi Knight are the best. Since Ms. Evelyn retire it is very difficult working with the office staff. You can't get an appointment to see the doctor and because of office protocol I cannot get my medication. Last Friday I was called to inform me I have a UTI which I knew I have had for at least 3 months. Now the closest pharmacy to me that they will call my prescription into is 400 miles from my home. I pray the office staff never gets IC or a UTI and has to deal with people like themselves.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the center. Some may allow brief visits by family members. Patients should ask about visiting rules before inviting people to stop by.
No. Patients should arrange for someone to drive them home and stay with them for 24 hours following the procedure.
This depends on the procedure. Most centers ask that patients arrive one to two  hours before the procedure begins. Following the procedure, the patient will stay at the center until fully recovered from being sedated. This may take between one and three  hours. After that, if the patient isn't experiencing abnormal pain, he or she may leave.
Different states have different rules regarding requirements for surgery centers. However, ASCs are required to be certified as a Medicare and/or Medicaid Ambulatory Surgery Center supplier before they enter into an agreement with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The most common types of procedures conducted at surgery centers are:
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopedics
  • Pain management
Some of the most common procedures include:
  • Cataract surgery
  • Colonoscopy
  • Pain injections
