Wr Roofing
WR Roofing has been amazing to us! On April 11th, Wylie was hit by a terrible hail storm. As water was coming through the holes in the roof and into the house, I panicked. I called Josh on his cell phone (which I had because WR was already slated to replace the roof from a previous storm) and immediately got an answer. Josh was very caring and courteous, and said that he would have crews out as soon as possible the next day (Who answers their cell at 8pm??!!) He and his crews were in our neighborhood by 8 the next morning - patching our roofs, one by one. I have a fantastic picture that shows all of the WR Roofing trucks down the block. They worked until dusk, getting me and my neighbors taken care of, before more rain came through. We can't thank them enough for giving our neighborhood peace of mind. The crew did a great job cleaning up after putting on the new roof - and again when they came and replaced our gutters. I referred them to my brother, and they did a wonderful job for him as well.I would recommend this company to anyone looking for good, honest, hardworking contractors!

Tate Roofing
seems to be a great small business (neighbor used them and roof looks great)...this is a shame on me. first time homeowner, first hail storm. very naive. didn't pay attention to what i was signing, and decided to go with another company that could do everything the insurance said needed done (tate couldn't do window screens).anyway, instead of chalking it up to "maybe I'll get your business next time" he decided he needed to collect $300 because we broke contract. it was there in writing, and was his legal right to do so.so, just be aware of what you sign. it's not permission to go on the roof with the insurance adjuster, it's a full contract.an additional note: read the fine print on the back. If they break something inside, they don't have to fix it. but on the bright side, the company we did go with is repairing the gas line that they accidentally hit with a roofing nail free of charge. just because it's in the contract, doesn't mean it's good business to stick it to the customer.so here is to $300 stupid tax. i've learned my lesson.

James Kate Roofing & Construction
I wish my experience had been better. I gave two stars because the communication and willingness to resolve customer issues were good in the end, but unfortunately quality was the real issue here. The roofing crew did not have the skills necessary for the job. It took 4 attempts of putting shingles on and ripping it off before reaching what I would consider only adequate. Also had trouble with the crew and the treatment of my property, which continued throughout the job. Throwing cigarette buts all over my yard and leaking motor oil in my driveway just to name a couple. An overall lack of respect. My gutters were damaged during the process and although the company replaced a portion of them, it still cost me an extra $2,000 on top of the overall job. Very disappointed because I chose the company based in so much positive feedback. I think there are better options out there.

Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
