One Stop Dollar
I’m always happy when a new business opens in my beautifully sad city of Malden, MA and doubly happy when it’s a business that is useful to me and dollar stores are definitely useful to a cheapskate like myself. Today I just wanted to say a couple of words about the new dollar store in my neighborhood, which is One Stop Dollar, especially because I’ve noticed it doesn’t have much traffic and thought I’d give it a boost.First of all, when you visit a place for the first time, you get a ‘feel’ for it, the general atmosphere, and I have to say that my first impression was very good. The store is clean, well organized, you get the feeling that much attention has been paid in putting it together. I especially have to mention the nice guy that was tending the store, nice, polite, helpful, courteous, although probably there are different people at different times. In any case, I didn’t find the one item I was looking for, and didn’t really expect to, it was rather eclectic (although, they do have it are the Dollar Tree), but I did a quick walk-through and saw that they have all the basics. So anyway, I think it’s an asset to the neighborhood and hope it catches on. I am of the belief that you really can't have too many dollar / discount stores! If I had to take a guess as to the low traffic of this specific One Stop Dollar (which, again, is just my personal impression, I haven’t done a Poisson distribution or anything!), I would think it is due to the weird location. Summer Street has decent traffic but It’s not exactly a destination unless you deliberately know where you’re headed to (e.g. Pearl Street restaurant). So maybe people just have to discover this place. The one negative thing I’d say is that the people running it should pick up the phone more because I actually tried calling twice before I went to see if they had my item but nobody answered (assuming that the listed number is correct, of course).

I wanted to let people know that the cashier tried to steal my lottery ticket today. I won one hundred dollars on a cash-word so, I went to cash it in. He said no winner but blatantly did not scan the ticket then he proceeded to tuck the ticket away. He gave me attitude when I asked for it back and examined it again. It was a winner. I cashed it else where. This place should get no stars. He was a Middle aged, Indian male with glasses, heavy set, with a red make on his forehead. Watch out.

I do not like this place. Sure they are friendly, and the products are what you would expect from a dollar store (like the two others on that same street). The only problem is, they brazenly charge me more than the ticket price on the product, and then come up with some cockamamie story about why oh no this particular one costs twice as much and so forth. I won't be going back, because I feel a fool to go there when there are two other stores just like it within a stones throw that honor their listed prices.

let me tell you this. I'm very proud to share with you this such lovely place. I was surprised by the nice stuff, especially the items selection. Everything fit. nice product and quality, good price and very nice and friendly people. you cannot step in without grabbing something. They're carrying furniture, body oils, beauty products, scarves, herbals tea, herbals oils, blankets, dresses and more...
