My Mechanic
May 17, 2012To Whom It May Concern:This is a note of appreciation to Mr. Jason Pennington and his team at My Mechanic, Inc. in Magnolia, Texas. Throughout my lifetime, I have had opportunity to conduct business with hundreds of companies throughout the U.S. While many companies make claims they are honest and trustworthy, few have lived up to their mantra.Mr. Jason Pennington, owner of My Mechanic, Inc., is one of those rare people who are 1) honest, 2) sincere, and 3) hard working. I came to Mr. Pennington and relayed what another shop told me my car needed. Instead of Jason taking their word, he checked out my car for himself and found the problem was NOT what the other shop said was the problem. Therefore, he CORRECTLY diagnosed the problem and found the least expensive solution to fix my car. Not only does he do accurate work, he does complete work. His honesty and integrity saved me several hundred dollars in auto repair expenses. In fact, he not only fixed everything I asked him to fix, I got my car back the SAME DAY! Thank you, Mr. Jason Pennington, for giving me and my family PEACE OF MIND, knowing that when I bring my vehicle into your shop, you can diagnose the problem correctly and charge a fair price for you parts and labor. Jason is polite, listens carefully, and never makes me feel “rushed” when I communicate my automotive needs. Even when he has a busy load, which is most often, he still takes time to listen to your problem and offer suggestions. He is very quick and efficient in his work routine and remembers what you tell him and what he tells you.It is very refreshing and encouraging knowing there ARE people in our great country who truly knows how to run an ethical and honest operation. My Mechanic is truly, My Mechanic (sic). For that, I am grateful.Kindest Regards,Anthony G. StoweMontgomery, Texas Resident(Note: I am not kin to Jason (as far as I know) and he has not paid me to say this) lol

Woodlands Auto Repair
I found Alex after moving here from Florida 5 years ago. My air went out in my car. and I had it checked at a local drive thru oil change and repair shop, and they told me I needed a new compressor and the cost was going to be over $1500. My sister-in-law had used Alex for something minor, and told be to just go there and get a second opinion. Much to my surprise, it turned out to be a .50 fuse, and he charged me nothing!! He could have told me anything, I wouldn't have known any better. We have never used anyone since that day. We've recommended him to many people, and the outcome is always great. Our entire family uses him for every auto repair, and regular maintenance work.

My Mechanic
Mr Penningtons shop I stopped at because of what his sign said honesty @ trust. Yep there are a lot of people that claim the same but you just have to try em to find out and hope for the best. After having my brand new Toyota tundra engine stolen from me from another mechanic in the big city. Then another quote given for other repairs I guess they thought by me being female they could make some good pocket change on us. Took a chance on my mechanic - Jason. And well let's just say I will not go anywhere else EVER. He not only told me the truth he saved me over 700.00! He might not need the referrals but I'm telling all I know about him.

First Choice Automotive
They really care and are very honest about repairs. This is the best car repair place I have ever had and I used to think I had the best. I would recommend this place highly for anything as small as oil change or big repairs. They don't do inspections but I needed somethings done to pass and not only did they get it up to par they drove it to get inspected. They treat you like family.

Woodlands Auto Repair
We've been taking our two cars to Alex for at least the past 3 years. His work is professional and fast, and the prices are extremely affordable. He has also done a couple of inspections on our vehicles prior to us taking long distance driving vacations (Chicago/Canada/Mexico). I recommend him to others . . .and they've had success as well.

NTB National Tire & Battery
I have to say, I was always weary about NTB because they are so high in costs, but you cant beat the quality of the services and thats what my car needs. Epi and Mike helped ease my mind checking if something was wrong with my car. I am extremely happy and will continue to come here for the honesty that was given.

My Mechanic
I'll echo what I see in the post above: I'm not getting paid to say this, and this isn't fake. Jason at My Mechanic is the best, most honest, most satisfying mechanic I have ever used. He is well-known in the Magnolia area for his honesty and quality work. Five Stars!

Carter Automotive Repair
Carter automotive is the best, most honest, and a very reasonable automotive shop. I take all my vehicles to them and I have only had great experiences. Give them a try and you will use them for life.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
