More Power Electric
Don't waste your time calling anyone else for electrical work!!! More Power and Electric is the best in the area. We originally used them when selling a property 8 months ago. Our entire home needed to be rewired and brought up to code in an extremely short amount of time. This work needed to be completed by a certain date so that our home sale would not fall through. No one would take on the job with those time constraints until we were given the name ED POWERS from a trusted colleague and friend. ED POWERS not only promised in writing to get the job done on time, but he gave us an estimate to complete the work for literally one half the price of what 3 other local electricians wanted. He was personally on site each day with his crew. He personally answered all of the issues that we had with the local code officials and even dealt with our very difficult buyer!! Ed and his team went above and beyond their job scope in so many ways and we will always be greatful. The job was completed on time and for the price he promised. Oh, and by the way, this all took place the week before Christmas!! If it wasn't for him, we would not have sold our home. We were in an extrememly vulnerable position and some other local contractors tried to take advantage of that but ED POWERS did not. That shows me a businessman with character and integrity and a work ethic beyond reproach. That is something you just don't come across too often these days. He has won our business and the business of all of our friends and family!!!

I got three estimates to install a chandelier, lift, dimmer switch and two other near-flush mounted lights in my house. More Power had the best price, but that's not really why I hired them. Ed came to my house to give me an estimate. He knew exactly what he was doing and provided an estimate on the spot. He arrived right on time to do the work, was efficient and courteous (as was his staff), did an excellent job, cleaned up well when he was finished, and despite having to do a little more work than we originally anticipated, the final price was spot on. I'll most certainly hire Ed at More Power the next time I need an electrician!

We're in the process of totally renovating an old, abandoned house, so we have worked with A LOT of contractors in the past few months. More Power Electric stands out far above the rest. They communicated well, did great work, and stayed within their originally quoted timeline and costs. That may seem like nothing special, but let me tell you, IT IS! On top of that, they were just genuinely nice guys and very pleasant to work with. We would definitely recommend them to other people and will surely use them again whenever we're in need of electrica work.

I recently had a job done on my home. More power electric were very professional, efficient, and reasonably priced. I had to add to the job that day and they were able to do the extra work needed. I had another contractor that day working and they were flexible working around him. They were on time and offered suggestions for future projects. Will be using them for any future projects. Their receptionist is very nice too! I highly recommend using more power electric of Margolis,nj. You will not be disappointed.

Have a 1920's era house in Cinnaminson, and contracted with More Power to replace all of the knob and tube wiring throughout the house (basement, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor). They provided an excellent price to do so, arrived when scheduled, and completed the entire job in 2 DAYS. I was very pleased with the small amount of wall/ceiling cutting and patching that they did, and just very pleased overall. I highly recommend More Power for electrical work, specifically knob and tube wiring replacement.

Reliable -- they do what they say they will do. The pricing is fantastic and I love the service, the quick return phone calls and the professionalism. Ed Powers knows the business inside and out. As a realtor, I've used More Power Electric many times to help update electrical wiring, remove knob & tube wiring and more. I consider Ed and his company one of my business partners. You won't go wrong. Thanks Ed for all the good work you've done. David Burns/Keller Williams Realty

More Power Electric
I've hired More Power Electric to handle four lighting jobs in my home within the past year. They continue to do quality work at reasonable prices. It's always nice to have dependable people there when you need them; and Ed, Tom, and Cody have always been professional and dependable. I don't usually write reviews, but I'm pleased to say that More Power Electric is my go-to company for electrical jobs that are too tough for me to handle on my own. Great work, guys!

These people were amazing! They worked with my schedule and rewired my entire 127 year old house at half the price of any other electricians who came to give me an estimate. They were courteous, prompt, knowledgeable; the definition of professionals. My family and I can rest easy knowing that our home is safely updated to code, without overpaying. I will definitely be calling them when we add outlets to our sunroom! Thanks for all your hard work!

Ed and his crew completed work at my office. They came recommended by someone local who stated that the company was fair priced and did good work. They came out and gave me an estimate that was reasonable. They handled all of the permit processing and completed the work in a single day. The staff at the office was very helpful when I called with questions or follow ups. I will call them if I need any further work completed.
Tips & Advices
Keep the following tips in mind:
  • Do not operate any electrical equipment while sitting or standing in water.
  • Don't overload extension cords or surge protectors.
  • Put caps on your electrical outlets if you have small children.
  • Call an electrician if you notice your sockets or switches are warm to the touch, discolored or if they make noise.
  • Keep electrical cords away from stoves, ovens and other sources of heat.
  • Do not use an appliance that has a frayed cord.
  • Do not staple extension cords into place or cover them with carpets or furniture.
  • When using extension cords, make sure to unwrap them before plugging them in.
  • Don't overuse extension cords. Have an electrician install extra outlets if you need a power source closer to you.
  • Only use light bulbs with the correct wattage for your lamps and light fixtures.
  • Contact a licensed electrician if you frequently blow fuses, since this can be a sign of an electrical wiring problem.
  • Have an electrician look at your fuse box to ensure you have the right size fuses and circuit breakers. The wrong size fuse or breaker can be a fire hazard.
  • If you have fault circuit interrupters installed in your electrical panel, make sure you test them at least once a month by turning them on and off.
It can cost from $40-$100 an hour depending on the job. This does not include additional costs for parts or trip fees. Make sure to ask in advance what they charge for or if they will provide a free quote.
In order to become a full-fledged professional, a person must undergo an apprenticeship with master and journeyman electricians. An apprentice needs 8,000 hours of practical work before graduating to the journeyman level. If an apprentice reaches journeyman status, he or she can complete most electrical work, but cannot design it until completing more testing along with 2,000 more on-the-job hours.
Yes. While all electricians need a license, not all of them do the same types of jobs.
  • Outside: These types of electricians work outdoors on electrical lines that connect to power plants.
  • Inside: Inside experts typically focus on commercial and industrial buildings that require a lot of power.
  • Residential: Residential electricians work with low-voltage systems and wiring to install fuse boxes and light fixtures.
Watch out for contractors that greatly underbid other electricians. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also, always remember to get the estimate in writing before settling on a company.
