Basically, the Southern style Soul food, which is served cafeteria style, is the best reason to come here.....probably the only reason to come here. This is a place to dine if you want good soul food and don't care about the atmosphere. This is the kind of place where the locals go. The meat selections today for lunch were fried pork chops, fried chicken, baked chicken, baked turkey wings, pigs feet, and neck bones. There was an assortment of sides. I had collards and rutabagas. The collard greens are the best I have ever eaten. They are cooked in some type of meat, such as fat-back, as are the other vegetables. The macaroni and cheese is also good. The meal comes with a meat, two sides, and a couple of flat fried corn bread. The portions are very generous....two people could easily share one meal if they are not big eaters. My husband chose the fried pork chops and was given three. Dine in and carry-out are both served in Styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. The restaurant is spacious, but definitely needs a face lift and updating. My lunch plus a drink was about $11.00.
