I saw Dr. Bradley at West Texas Eye Associates. He explored some treatments with me that other eye doctors had not explored and I can sum it up by saying the first time I went to a restaurant and could see the menu without glasses, I literally cried. I would not hesitate to recommend West Texas Eye Associates and Dr. Bradley.

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Jay Bradley for about four years now. Let me start out by saying, my husbands case is very comlicated. Dr. Bradley is always willing to help us. He is very good at his profession, very kind and considerate, very personable, I think he is the kind of doctor we all look for. We feel very blessed to have him for our doctor. He genuinly cares about his patients.

The first time I saw Dr. Shami I could only wonder how the children in the concentration camps during WWII survived the torture and testing that was done on them. The bright light he uses caused severe pain. I did see his associate Dr. Vance while he was out of town and would highly recommend her. I wanted to keep seeing her but was not allowed to. I had to see Dr. Shami. I had to wait for over 2 hours to see him after my eyes were dilated and he told me to be on my best behavior. I will not go back to see him. If I could see Dr. Vance again, I would go back, but will not go back to see Dr. Shami. I would go to a far away town to see a retina specialist before I would go back to him. He has no compassion.

I have never seen a more competent, efficient and caring clinic or hospital than Dr. Bradley and staff. I would definitely recommend them to my best friend. In fact, I have. Bettie H.

Tips & Advices
While the first appointment is the most comprehensive, the majority of appointments with an ophthalmologist begin with a basic eye exam followed by a refraction to test if glasses are needed. Other tests might include an eye muscle coordination exam, a check of pupil response and peripheral vision, slit lamp microscope test to look at the anterior segment of the eye, and an intraocular pressure assessment.
Most eye doctors will charge different amounts for their services, but a basic eye exam with an ophthalmologist can range from $50 to $300. Additional tests and treatment will add to the price.
Ophthalmology subspecialties include strabismus/pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, retina/uveitis ophthalmology, cornea/anterior segment ophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic surgery, and reconstruction.
Ophthalmologists can diagnose macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, ocular albinism, vitreous traction, cataracts, astigmatism, myopia, retinoblastoma, and many more.
The most popular ophthalmology procedures are cataract, laser eye treatment, and glaucoma surgeries.
