I specifically asked if I would need to tarp my stuff and received a verbal no. They told me that it doesn't flood and that because I intend to only use it for a few months it would be overkill. When I went to pick my stuff up a few months later everything was covered in concrete dust. I didn't get an apology. I wasn't offered any form of compensation. The entire point of a storage unit is that my stuff would be in a sealed environment. I could have just left it in a shed outside for free and it would have been in better condition. Very upset.

I visted 6714 Preston Highway in July 2016. Their hyperlink is . When I asked to go look at a storage unit I was told I had to first fill out a customer service request first. Then I was told I had to have a lock; either from them for about $20 or mine (I had neither at that time I was just looking). Then I asked how much for a unit and was told it varies from day to day from the light brown haired women clerk. In All they won't let you first see what you are getting (a pig in the poke) and the price is NOT apparently constant which means that it is NOT stable. Hope you realize what All I am describing to you concerning my experience with them here. I Never therefore contracted with them because of All of that. I knew I would have problems if I dealt with them any further. Thank you for reading this review.

J-Town Self Storage
Some things were missing from my rental unit when I moved everything out. The site manager Missy Thompkins claimed that she did not know what happened to the missing items. I would not recommend this storage company to anyone!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible dump. The "manager" Mark is a forgetful DEMENTED circus freak with ZERO interpersonal skills and shortchanges you. Would you do business with someone who continually forgets you paid them? Yes, inbred boy Mark does this all the time. He has the IQ of the extinct Dodo bird. He also treats his tenants and guests alike with disrespect and disdain, from what I was told. Avoid him and this facility like the plague.Pay a little more money for adequate storage and efficient management.

This place is very unprofessional. The manager was very rude when i contacted her about my unit. I called and tried to reach them on the weekend. No luck and was locked out of the unit 2 days after the grace period. The manager took no considertaion that it was the weekend and the fact i did try and call twice. She argued with me for 10 mins and stated basically since i had only had the unit for 1 month i was not important or helping them out really like a long term customer. She refused to give me a number for the owners which is who i actually rented the unit from. In order to get my things moved i will now have to pay a month ahead when i dont even need the unit due to this " property manager" lack of understanding and customer service. One word of advice " never argue with your customers" in the customer service world " The Customer is always right" when i told her this she said Well im sorry but i disagree... Run from this place.

J D Taylor & Sons Moving Inc
The most dishonest company I have ever dealt with - we used them to move from a house to an apartment while our new house was being built. Paid them a lot of money to keep our belongings in storage for 6 months in supposedly "climate controlled' environment. When we finally moved into our new place, half of our furniture was so damaged, we had to get rid of it - holes in couches, huge scratches on our cherry dining room table, a dresser that had been refinished looked like they had thrown it off the back of a truck and it had rolled down a gravel enbankment. They also stole several boxes of stuff we've never been able to account for - like a huge chest of old LP albums that were classics, and boxes of my children's items had obviously gotten wet because the items inside were molded. Because we didn't purchase additional insurance the day we moved(which we were told about in a 5 second conversation) the company refused to made amends. It took several calls to state regulators to even get them to agree to send out a repairman to fix the wooden furniture that was scratched. They may be ok just for a move, but I would never leave anything with them, and will never use this company again!
Tips & Advices
Many storage unit companies provide moving equipment that you can use to help maneuver your belongings. This equipment might be available for rental, and some storage companies will loan certain items to you at no charge. The range of options can include items such as push carts and dollies.
Storage units allow vehicle storage, and you'll typically need to rent an outdoor unit to facilitate this process. An outdoor storage unit that accommodates vehicles may have its own walls and door, or it may be a covered unit that's partitioned with wire mesh. Another option is to rent covered storage for your vehicle. With covered storage, your vehicle is stored in a space that is shared with other vehicles. These spaces are similar to parking spaces in a secure lot.
There are certain differences that separate indoor and outdoor storage units. Indoor storage units are often housed in secure facilities, and they offer perks such as climate control. These units are the best choice for sensitive and valuable items, since they offer protection from pests, weather, and intruders. Outdoor storage units are usually much larger than indoor units, and they often offer drive-up access to each unit. Outdoor storage units are excellent for storing larger items such as furniture, boats, and cars.
Storage unit rental fees do not include property insurance for stored items. Storage facilities are typically protected by insurance, but this coverage only applies to the building itself, and not the contents of the storage units. Your homeowners insurance might provide coverage for your stored items. Storage insurance is also available, and premiums typically start at roughly $7 per month for $1,000 worth of coverage.
The minimum rental period for most storage units is one month. Some storage facilities offer promotions and discounts that require a longer minimum rental period for discounts to be redeemed. For example, a storage facility might offer the first month of rental free with a two-month minimum.
