DAMNIT! WHY DO THE LGBT's HAVE THE BEST NIGHT CLUBS?!?!? Seriously though I'm 16 and looking for a place to hang out. Moment I noticed it was a gay bar I was gone. I'm not homophobic but being the only straight there felt odd.

Two separate buildings once upon a time, Uncle Slayton’s is a new music venue with an “old soul” just over a mile east and a straight shot from downtown Louisville. Dating back to 1895, its vintage character and double-wide floor plan create an exposed brick and wood “small hall” performance space with separate bar area, plus a rear patio area is open, weather permitting. Yep, cozy, and designed to showcase the finest local talent in the Mid-South along with regional and national touring artists who prefer a more intimate setting. Completely accessible with modern PA system and the area’s most accomplished sound & recording engineer, Slayton's is also available for private and after-show get-togethers.(Okay, asked and answered: UNCLE SLAYTON is a character in the James McMurtry song "Choctaw Bingo"…our nod to Texas and its great good music. 'Kay, then.)

This is an excellent little ""Cheers"" of Louisville that I found 2 years ago where the people really do know your name. I drive from the East End of town to this historic neighborhood to feel at home. Excellent food and children friendli in the day hours and very eclectic. I wouldnt call this a ""run down bar"" from the review. The food is excellent and purchased fresh. Nothing frozen when it comes burgers, onion rings or pizza's at a great price. Check it out!

I wanted to try foods that were unique to Louisville. The vistor center recommended Bistro 301 and so happy they did! We started with the Beer Cheese and Benedictine. From there, we had the Hot Brown and the finished off with the Derby Pie. Not having any of these items before, we had no comparison but we enjoyed each item. Our server was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. I would go back to Bistro 301 if I'm ever back in Louisville.

What more could you ask for? Live entertainment, reasonable prices, and good food! We came to Howl for my friends birthday. The highlight of the night was when they got her up on stage and had her spin a wheel! She ended up winning a free bar tab! We will definitely be back!!

This place rocks! Great atmosphere for all to enjoy even children. They have karaoke twice a week ( Saturdays are the best!) but make sure to get there early to get a table in the front room. Plenty of seating out front and back and two other areas inside to sit. I had my 30th bday party there and it was a blast! My food favorites are the to die for fish sandwich, chili, roastbeef, mashed potatoes, and home style green beans. You really can't beat the price for the quality and portion size of the food. I highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try!!!

I have been frequenting the Magnolia Bar for almost 5 years now. It is the only bar that I have ever walked into and felt immediately welcome. I don't just go there because of their great drink specials. The bartenders are attentive, warm, witty and great conversationalists. I can say the same about the regulars. I often find myself discussing anything from science to science fiction, history, books, music, movies...and I have been introduced to so many amazing and new things just from listening or joining the conversations. They also have things going on during the week for whatever suits your taste, such as Tuesday nigiht trivia, Wednesday a huge college dance party. Thursday, Woodrow on the radio is spinning awesome vinyl. And on the weekends you can be entertained by good live music whether you like death metal to alt country or anywhere in between. So go and soak up the assorted personalities and cheap drink specials. I'm glad I did.
