Amazing food! With the invitation only exclusivity, you would certainly feel that the dining experience is very special. Definitely the best beef I've had in the US; especially I loved the raw meat. The beef is so fresh that you can eat them even raw. However, this was not the best cooked beef I've ever had in my life; the best beef I've ever had was in Niigata, Japan (restaurant called Yoshigen in Murakami City). The price for the entire course meal is about $150 per person; it's very expensive but for lots of food. You can bring your own alcohol with no corkage charge! I would recommend bringing good sake for appetizer and raw meat and wine for BBQ.

Silver Lake Ramen
I ordered the Tonkotsu Spicy Ramen and Spicy Tuna over Crispy Rice. I've had a lot of spicy tuna over crispy rice before and I thought this was subpar, which was disappointing because it was my friend's first time having it. The ramen was good and filling. I wish the bamboo shoots and egg came standard with the ramen but I had to pay $1 extra for each. The place was crowded on a Friday for a noon lunch but the line went very quickly and we ended up waiting only 5 minutes. I'd go there again if I were in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to drive to Silverlake for it. Overall, good but not great!

Delicious bowl of ramen! I am huge fan of real ramen with rich, hearty tonkatsu broth. I tried the tonkatsu kotteri here and was pretty pleased. It was a large serving which I didn't finish. Note - it's DTLA, so parking is a pain. Also, there's almost always a long wait because it's a tiny restaurant. We went on a hot summer day so it was really toasty in the restaurant. Best time to go is probably late at night, or in the winter. Their AC seems to be barely working. I prefer the tastes of Ramen Yamadaya, but this was pretty good.

Silver Lake Ramen
The best ramen in the area. I don't know what Ann is talking about but because I live in the valley, good ramen is hard to come by. However Silver Lake Ramen is where I go to get my fix, and I make a night out of it once a month at least. The wait can be hectic but service is fast. I always order the tonkotsu spicy ramen with extra chopped garlic, soft boiled egg, and spinach. They boil the pork meat and bones for over 16 hours to achieve that thick gelatinous broth that most inauthentic ramen restaurants do not have. The best.

Orochon Ramen
I went into this restaurant unprepared, and tried the Special 2 challenge after being peer-pressured into it by my amigos. I finished all but an inch of the the soup and a slice of jalapeno. Not enough to make the wall of fame :-( Worst is suffering the same aftermath, without getting the glory!The ramen seems to be pretty good. I can't tell with my mucus membranes on fire. It may not be as good as Daikokuya. I'll try it again next time, without Special 2. But just the novelty and legend of Orochon deserves a 4-star!

Soy Japanese Grill & Roll
I went to this place for the first time yesterday and I have to say this is one of my new found favorite places.The food here is fresh and healthy not to mention delicious. I give this place 5 stars for sure. I only suggest this place gets packed around the three meals of the day appearently it is very popular with the USC students, so perhaps calling in your order for pick up can save you time. I recommend the california rolls and the chicken egg rolls very good.

Tsujita LA Artisan Noodles Annex
Extremely filling.The broth is fairly thick and salty but also delicious. I got the regular ramen, which had thick and tasty noodles.At the annex you put your name on the list outside, are called to order, then wait until they have room to seat you. Expect to wait more than 30 minutes if you have a party of 3 or more. Inside there is a bar and 3 tables for 2, nothing more. They rushed us to pay our bill when we were still halfway done.Cash only.

Daikokuya is one of my favorite tonkotsu ramen places in LA. If you're a fan of Santouka, Yamadaya or Shinsengumi, you would also like this place. The place is always packed and wait time is 10 minutes to sometime over an hour; so avoid the busiest hours as possible. I like Daikokuya but I would rather go to Shinsengumi (which is 5 minutes away) if the wait is too long. Shinsengumi is just as good as Daikokuya.The place only takes cash.

Some of the best dim sum west of the SGV. Small, unassuming little joint with a nice patio in the back. Favorites are the lotus rice, BBQ pork buns, radish cakes and the panfried pork and shrimp buns. They also have amazing veggie dishes: sauteed kale with garlic and the seaweed salad are probably my favorites. Service is always great and spot-on. Nice place to stuff myself on a Sunday afternoon after a night of debauchery.

Honda Ya Japanese Restaurant
Lots of wood and Japonais decorations at this place in the old J-Town mall. Try the okra! Try the beef! Try the chicken! Try the shrimp! Try the pork belly! Try it all! Wonderful service and delicious yakitori. The menu is very extensive and it's a fun, casual place. It gets busy on the weekends so reservations are a must. Don't forget to bring your parking ticket for validation. Check the open hours before you go.
