Lincoln Locksmith
Great service. I called Lincoln Locksmith to install a new lock for me. Ilan was there on time, so many options he gave me and all l had to do is to choose what l like. As soon as l did that, The lock was ready on my door at the same day. Very recommended.

$603.00 to re-key two locks? Couldn't pick them so he drilled them and then charged me for two locks. He stated deadbolts were "impossible" to pick. Took a copy of the card upfront before giving pricing, when we objected he ran the card anyway.

I'm right there with everyone else - Gold Locksmith Store absolutely deserves their great ratings. After I had my purse stolen - with wallet and keys inside - I was dreading having to call around and figure out a locksmith to come and replace my locks. When I called Shon, they didn't have as many reviews here yet (this was over a year ago), but those that were there were good, so I gave them a shot. And I'm so happy I did - Shon was able to come by first thing the next day, and this was after contacting them late in the evening. Fast, punctual, professional, honest about prices - and on top of all this which I would consider quite enough to earn the 5 stars - he was super nice to my little niece and roommate's dog who were fascinated by what he was doing. What more could you ask for?

I got locked out of my apartment in the middle of the night with no phone or anything on me. I had a local business call a Advanced Locksmith Service for me - unfortunately, that locksmith was online for someone else to replace the cylinder, and that's how I found Advanced Locksmith Service ! I'm so glad I did. I called them the next day and they had someone out to my place within an hour. The guy who came was friendly and did the job extremely quickly and efficiently - for only $89! I'll never use another locksmith again. Thanks, Advanced Locksmith Service - I just wish I had found you sooner!

Not only is Mike the nicest locksmith in the world; he's the nicest PERSON in the world. I called Advanced Locksmith Service in the afternoon to inquire about installing a deadbolt. I wasn't in a rush, but he was able to come just a few hours later. The whole process took about 20 minutes and was super easy. He was a pleasure to chat with and the price was very fair. I would hire him again in a heartbeat (although I hope I don't have to - ha).

Tips & Advices
Locksmiths-in-training can receive foundational knowledge and skills through programs offered at technical colleges or vocational schools. These would include basic courses on lock mechanics and manipulation, along with general skills like business management. From there, most trainees seek an apprenticeship, where they work alongside a professional locksmith. This allows them to gain experience in the field. It can also put them on a course toward certification.
Upon arrival to your home, a locksmith should ask you to prove that it is in fact your residence. They should also be able to unlock most common locks without requiring them to be drilled or completely replaced. Be sure to obtain an invoice that lists all charges before agreeing to pay.
  • If possible, research local locksmiths online and take note of any that have poor reviews or complaints.
  • When calling a locksmith, confirm their address matches what you found online or in a directory. Then ask for a cost estimate for the service you need, and ask to have them bring a written copy of this estimate.
  • Some states require locksmiths to be licensed. If your state is one of them, require the locksmith to bring proof of registration when they arrive.
The term locksmith traditionally referred to people who designed and built locks, but today is generally used for those who repair and replace locks. Locksmiths can be available on-call to help people if they're locked out of their home or apartment.
  • First, determine the type of lock you have, as well as the manufacturer or model if possible. You should also obtain measurements of your door and frame.
  • Remove exterior and interior knobs by unscrewing any visible screws you find. Many knobs will include a decorative cover on the interior side that can be removed.
  • Once you've removed the entire lock, find the screws on the inside of the door frame to remove the latch or deadbolt.
  • With everything removed, repeat these steps in reverse order to install the new lock.
