You can’t call yourself a hamburger aficionado in Los Angeles without trying the Hickory burger. As far as I’m concerned it’s hamburger perfection: savory/ sweet hickory smoked barbecue, mayo, cheddar cheese and crisp lettuce. That’s it. Nothing fancy and it doesn’t need to be. The fries are always cooked to a golden crisp and one order is enough for two people to share. On top of that, they also serve the best banana cream pie in town. The servers can seem surly at times, but they’re no slouches. Lines to get in can be long, but the wait is worth it.

The Apple Pan is a total blast from the past. I love the old school ambience and the hickory burger is pretty good too.

    Love it.

My wife and I were there, and we were good surprized.

  • Burgers are solid, but slightly

Burgers are solid, but slightly overrated. Pie is amazing!

  • Great!

This place is great. Whenever I find myself on that side of the hill, I head over there (which is usually a Monday, so I get really sad that they're closed.

Love the Hickory burger and cream soda. Standing doesn't usually take too long, unless you have more than 2 people.
I went with my friend and my son, stood for about 5 minutes before getting 3 seats. The waiter got us our food pretty quickly and made a slice of cheese with a smiley face in it for my kid. He loved it.
The waiter is surly, but he's never been rude to me ever.

There are a few pro tips, though:
1-Park down the street a little bit. The parking lot for the Apple Pan is like 3 spaces. The parking on the street is good for about an hour, which is all you'll need.
2-There are only 20 seats in this place. It's not a sit and dine experience. It's an eat on your lunch break, then gtfo kinda place. They have to keep the customers coming and going, otherwise you have a crowd of people out the door waiting for half an hour for one seat. If you want to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, order it to go or head to Starbucks. Which brings me to...
3-Order it to go. I love the burgers, but I don't like crowds. This place gets crazy crowded around lunch times.

The parking issue caused it to lose a star, but great place.

  • Simply the best pie and burgers!

I am here in line at least three times per week. Extra time in the gym is a must but it is worth it!

It is no secret in West LA!

My cup of coffee from The Apple Pan is always wonderful. Good!

  • Where Is Chalie Collens when u need him?????

For all you ""OLD timers"", And I do mean OLDDDDDD.

Remember the ""kid"" as you entered on the west side in 1962??Guess what? THAT be me, and I gotta tell ya, the ""pan"" was a great place to learn about life!

Joe Kelly was the boss, and C.P. collens was the day time chief ,OK he was the flipper of the meat LOL LOL.
Grover Thomas Was the other ""chief"" He was always know as BUCK!

The food was the finest then, and it still is. Just a few bucks more!!!

Back then, the average guest check was under $1.00, and if I got a quarter, I was a happy guy.

Lets all hope that places like the ""pan"" will always be around.

It taught this old man, how to be a good man.....

The food is definitely good, but I feel that this place is overrated. There is hardly any seating, and they don't even have milkshakes! Seems strange form a restaurant that specializes in burgers and fried.

  • OK OK OK I admit it I am hooked

What started as an accident turned into a full on wonderful experience.

    Thanks for the great service
