Never been in a Jamaican restaurant that was so inviting. The decorum and cleanliness were a delight and a sight for sore eyes. Didn't get a chance to experience the cuisine, but if the appearance of the place is any indication on how the food is then there's no question that it is off the chart! I did have an opportunity to have one of their delicious non-alcoholic beverages that simply tickled my tastebuds. I loved it! Just wanted to check out the place because I heard about it and I can't wait to get back there to actually experience the cusisine, customer service and the ambience. Thanks, Derrick for being in the The Hood!

My friend recommended this place and I am so glad I went. Very delicious, authentic style food. I was very pleased with the portions and it was not that expensive. I had a great time. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. Next time I go if its sunny out I will try and enjoy my lunch outside. Definitely will be going back!

  • Derrick's is the best Jamaican in LA

That's right, Derrick's is even better than Cha Cha Cha! I've been several times. I've spoken to Derrick himself and he's a delight! The food is always spectacular (with the exception of their salads) and the portions are huge. Last time i was adventurous and tried the goat which was fantastic!
THe only CON to Derrick's is the location. It's sort of hidden behind a fast food restaurant and this horribly weird intersection between Centinella, La Tijera, and La Cienega. Took me half an hour to find it the first time. At least the parking's free once I found it!

  • Horrible and I mean Horrible Customer Service!!!!

A friend of mine introduced me to Derrick's a few months ago and I thought it was a great place to get some authentic Jamaican food. However, the more we went the more the service began to get worse. We went there last Sunday and it took the waitress (there were three of them) 15 minutes to even bring us water. And on top of that we were the ONLY ones in the restaurant. They were busy standing behind the bar gossiping.

We sat and waited and would have left if I wasn't so hungry. We both had the Jerked chicken as if we had too much of another choice since they had a special Menu for Mother's day that only included about four items to order from. We asked for a regular menu so that my friend could order a drink and one of the other waitresses walks over and tosses it on the table without looking at us and walks off. I actually think she rolled her eyes. Not sure what their problem was but they don't have to worry about us going back anytime soon to be so badly disrespected as a customer.

Although their food is pretty good the service is SO horrible I do not recommend this place. And Derrick if you're reading this you need to hire some new people or at least buy them a new attitude.

  • The Worst!

This had to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The service was non-existent. I never did recieve my first coarse and no expnation was offered. The gap between the first person getting their dinner and the last was about 30 minutes. Then when it arrived it was wrong. The food didn't resemble any type of Jamican cusine I have ever had -- including in Jamica.
