  • Corporate stupidity

I want to start off by saying that I like the staff at this store. They're always friendly, courteous and helpful. Renee, the Manager, does a great job in what I'm sure is a thankless task.

My complaint is with the store's deplorable condition outside. Has anyone in the corporate offices ever heard of a gardener? They're these guys that show up every week or so, with a lot of loud, obnoxious machines that do stuff like cut grass. Some of the better ones even pick up trash.

With the weed choked planted areas and ankle deep grass on the parkways, this store has become a blight on the neighborhood. Last year, one of the outdoor light fixtures was knocked over and it took months before anyone got around to fixing it.

At a time when rumors of Blockbuster's impending collapse abound, this kind of corporate stupidity and disregard for the community is troubling.

    Get your act together, Blockbuster.

  • Good concept bad presentation

Blockbuster offers longer return times than 20-20 video, which is a plus. but their hours are less, which is tough for those of us that work late. They can be relied upon to have the new releases, but that's about it. The top floor is a wasteland of obscure titles, almost three genres stuffed into one (all sci-fi, fantasy, historical, etc jammed into I believe, ""action"" or maybe ""drama"") The store appears to have been last redecorated sometime in the early nineties, with junk and debris clearly visible to the public. I feel bad for the employees, because the neon signs that may well be 20 years old, have a really loud hum, which is obvious to the customers, and sort of a weird distraction as you are browsing. BUT they have longer return times, so I persist in going there. AND THEN, this dreadlocked dude gives me the squeeze on their $10 Reward Card thing, I mean he was really persistant about this thing, it was like being ""spare changed""! (And since when was anyone paying for a ""reward"", its ridiculous and absurd!) Just give me the damn dvd and let me leave this place!!!! I learned that day that its just as well to wait for Neflix.
