Price, William C, JD
I worked with David M Price of Long Beach because I was referred to him by the State Bar Association of California. He was not an excellent lawyer (forgetful, easily intimidated by opposing counsel, meek and fearful in front of a judge, does not argue passionately for you), particularly easy to work with or talk to (he can talk for too long, go off on long winded, boring personal stories -- I suspect to run up his billing hours, he can also be explosively crabby seemingly out of nowhere), but he also wasn't a bad lawyer. He basically did the bare minimum of what he had to do, to stop from completely bombing my case. Other lawyers, who were more talented and intelligent, could have and would have done much better with the facts of my case -- in other jurisdictions I won by landslide victories with these better lawyers. In the case David handled for me, I got a just barely acceptable judgment.. If you want to be able to pay a fairly cheap price, he will accept lower payments based on income, and MUST have attorney representation he will do. But do not expect to be wowed by his work ethic and legal knowledge, do not expect to have expedient service, expect to just keep your head above water. I get the feeling that's his general attitude towards the law -- just scrape buy with as many scraps as possible but never go for gold. The best thing about his practice is his Legal Assistant, Keisha (a graduated JD), who I would've preferred to be the attorney and would consider switching to if and when she starts her own practice. She was professional and sympathetic. The receptionist who answers the phone sounds like she has a perpetual cold and can be mind numbing to talk to so my advice is to quickly ask to be transferred to Keisha.

Benjamin P Wasserman Attorney
Mr. Wasserman is one of the most conscientious and honorable men I know. He took on my medical malpractice case Despite the prospect of very low fees due to the medical malpractice In California. He fought like a bulldog for six years for me. He always showed up for court despite the fact that the other side called for continuances time after time after time. As a six-year client of his I found him honest, compassionate, and honorable. I have watched carefully as he fought religiously for my case. No lawyer could have done better.A doctor partially blinded during an operation in which I had had a stroke and his ego would not let him believe that he had done anything wrong. This doctor currently stumps for minimally invasive surgery. Then why did he cut me open the way you would gut a trout? He fought for me like a bulldog attacking a Chihuahua. He got them by the nose and just would not let go. In the end we won it may have been aphyric victory but it was a victory.

Wasserman Benjamin P
I found Ben Wasserman to not only be a caring compassionate individual but also illegal bulldog. I was in a medical malpractice case. I went to lawyer after lawyer after lawyer, All to no avail. Most lawyers dismissed me out of hand because frankly, there just isn't enough money in malpractice cases in California to make it worthwhile for them. It seems that there is a medical malpractice cap on damages which means that a lawyer is not likely to get rich off of a case. Still, he took on the case. A doctorate partially blinded me during an operation. Ben Wasserman went after him like a pit bull on a Chihuahua. He fought for me for six years. The opposition thought that I would just go away meekly. But with Ben's encouragement I fought on. We finally came to an agreement with the doctors responsible. While it may have been phyrric victory it was nonetheless a victory. I have high praise for him. He did everything possible he could of done to win the case.

The Law Offices of John A Mendoza
While working on construction I had an accident that affected my life completely. Not only could I not work but this also affected the bills I needed to pay. I initially made a claim with my employer but they said it wasn’t valid. After researching online as well as asking friends for recommendations I was referred to John Mendoza. I had nothing else left to lose since I couldn’t work so I called John Mendoza for his services. John and his associates ended up getting me financial assistance and medical help that I desperately needed which I am more than happy with. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that I did have some trouble trying to reach Jose himself but it was usually due to him being at court or out of the office.

Poland Richard L Attorney At Law
I don't really understand the bad reviews at all. I had a totally different experience with Richard. We first meet because I needed his help with my tenant. My tenant was violating his lease and was being cited by the City of Long Beach numerous times and the tenant told me that he had hired Richard to represent him in a lawsuit against the City of Long Beach. Long story short, I contacted Richard and I thought he was one of the the nicest, most caring person I have ever meet. He offered to write a letter to the City of Long Beach and helped reduce the fines by $1000. Let me just say, he did it free of charge because he wanted to help me out and you just NEVER see this anymore. He is a really good person. -Jocelyn

Jarvis & Krieger PC
I recommend Jarvis, Krieger and Sullivan with 5 stars, 1000%. I was divorced 10 years ago, and things were going ok between me and my ex. We had 50/50 custody. Then I found out that my wife was going to move with the kids out of the state. My kids are still only 11 and 13 – and I have a great relationship with them. I hired Jarvis, Krieger and Sullivan and they made things so difficult for my ex in court that ultimately she “decided” not to move away. I was so scared that I was going to lose my kids. Without Jarvis, Krieger and Sullivan my kids would have lost their father. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The Law Offices of John A Mendoza
After speaking to a few attorneys around Long Beach I ended up choosing John Mendoza. The first reason being that they actually took the time to listen to my case instead of rushing me. The second reason I chose John Mendoza is because I was actually referred by my friend who’s an attorney himself but for Criminal Defense. After a few calls back and forth, John got all the information he needed and went on with my personal injury case. Long story short I got a settlement I’m happy with and glad everything is done and settled.

Law Offices of Larry H Parker
Mr. Waks handled a complicated personal injury matter for me and took the case to trial because the insurance company refused to offer me any money. The Jury loved him and awarded me a substantial sum of money which paid for my medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. He treated me with respect and always returned my phone calls promptly. I could not have gotten through this terrible ordeal without him. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who was seriously injured due to the negligence of others.

Long Beach Criminal Law Specialist, Attorney Matthew Kaestner
Without mentioning specifics, we were involved in a criminal charge which would have ruined our life as we know it. Through a friend's recommendation we retained Matt as our lawyer in the case. With his knowledge of the Criminal Law and the Long Beach Court system he was able to get our case dismissed without going to trial. We recommend anyone seeking legal representation in a Criminal case to retain Matt as their attorney. They will be more than satisfied with his handling of their case.
Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
