I am an Indian and I eat here regularly . the food tastes good and the lunch buffet is good too. I always leave with a super full stomach that induces coma.
I didn't like their aloo paneer though :(.

the buffet is worth the money but not always kept hot enough and often mostly veggies.
but the menu is outstanding if you are not looking for cheap buffet.
amazing atmosphere and nice owner. worth the $.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Its a little hole in the wall place with amazing food and friendly, welcoming service. My favorite is the chicken korma in a yogurt sauce with indian spices, cashews and raisins. You get to choose how hot(spicy) you want your dinner: mild, medium or hot. I usually go with medium, it's not extremely spicy but you get all the flavors of the spices. With mild I found it lacking some flavor but still wonderful. I haven't found an Indian restaurant that makes chicken korma as delicious as Kamal Palace. Paapadum with the mango and mint chutneys(free like you would normally get bread and butter at other restaurants), Mulligatawny soup, garlic naan and a mango lassi along with the chicken korma is my favorite dinner. Other good entrees are :chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, aloo paneer and sweet naan, theres probably a lot more but the chicken korma is sooo good I always get that! And there's always left overs for lunch or dinner the next day! mmm just writing this is making me want it for dinner. : ) My dad also recommends the lunch buffet.
THEY ARE NOT CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS!!
open 7 days a week

Not a lot of thai vegan spots in long beach, but all i need is this place. The tofu pad thai is fantastic
I have visited this place one for a quick and it was lovely. I think they have a lunch buffet I would like to check out. Its the Best indian food I have had in Long Beach so far. Prices were appropriate and the little view was adorable. Service was great and food was served in a timely manner.
I go here all the time. I suggest getting the Naan(bread) and Tanddori Lamb that is brought to your table still sizzling and taste great. The regular thing I get is the Chicken Masala with Rice. The Flavor is so good and the rice is so fluffy and light. I have went to the Buffet on the weekend the food is good but when you go for dinner and the food is made fresh its outstanding. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is this one grumpy waiter that is sometimes there, just messing up the service. There is also the complete opposite in another waiter that may just be the owner he is so happy and helpful when you go there.
I am a vegetarian and I really liked the vegetarian choices at this restaurant.
The service was very good, very friendly and attentive staff.
I am an Indian and was told by my country people that the food in this place is really great. I drove almost 40 miles to eat here, but disappointed very much. We order chicken tikka and mixed curry (lamb and chicked mixed) and CHICKEN BIRYANI. I ate chicken Biryani in Resutrants in Artesia (Pioneer Blvd, go to Masala Bowl, Shan). That is the typical taste of Biryani. But here they mixed the chicken curry and white rice and added rasins and cashews etc, which I can do it myself and need not pay the Biryani Price. Very much disappointed and know lot of regular Indian resturants to that (mixing curry and white rice to make Biryani). Service was OK. I did not have much impression on the seating arrangements and kind of felt not sitting in a Resturant (it could be because it is in the basement).
I'm certainly not an expert on Indian cuisine -- but I've tried about 20 or so Indian restaurants. This one is among my very favorites. Nice setting for a relaxing dinner. Unique flavors -- and the sauces are the best I've ever had. Try the warm Indian tea. I could drink gallons of it. Only negative is that the service can be somewhat ""casual"" --and sometimes you'll find yourself being almost a bother to get a refill -- or that kind of thing. It's well worth it. Good value -- great selections!
Kamal Palace has a very nice setting (location, view, decor). While the food quality was very good, the taste was just average. The chicken tikka masala had a distinct barbeque flavor that I wasnt used to (Im no expert but Ive had tikka masala from at least ten different restaurants and it never tasted like that). The samosas were bland, however the tamarind and mint sauces made them great. Everything else was fine, but not great. Anyway, give it a try and you may like it, it just isnt my favorite.
