Serene Center Long Beach
I found a safe haven here. My success rate with treatment programs and sober livings is not very good, but when I found myself at Serene Center, all that changed. I think the biggest thing that changed my life is the support I received from the other people staying at Serene Center. They are all so into their recvoery and helping others in their recovery too. I remember being interviewed by the owner Andrew and he asked me some tought questions. I didn't really understand why at the time, but I soon figured out that what he was doing is making sure that I really wanted recovery before he let me in the facility. This place is not about the money, it is about recovery. I saw them kick people out when they had no interest in sobriety and working a program. I also saw them give people several chances when they were desperate for sobriety and really wanted it. I think the owner's philosophy of supporting people in their recvoery effort as long as they really want it, and giving no support to anyone as long as they don't want recovery, really works. I was there for 9 months and it turned my life around. The groups, the counseling, and the awesome living space all contributed greatly. Perhaps my readiness had something to do with it too :-)

Oh myyyyyyyy I LOVE this place, it was my 1st time there, I was met by the owners which are four cousins. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I felt like I was at home in a comfortable environment. The waitresses were amazing Char was 1 of them. For your 1st time they offer you samples, food & drink if you like. The food was very soulful, comforting & delicious. If your are ever in the Carson area, or just looking for a cool laid back place with a bar & great food. This is the spot to go & hang out!!

Serene Center delivers on what they advertise. They truly fill the gap after primary treatment and before sober living, although they do sober living too. The facility is very nice and the rooms are big and new. They have a gym and a computer lab. They have AA and NA meetings on site and also conduct a family workshop program. They drug test every three days too. The counselors are great and the program manager is fair and caring. This is a great place!

I have contacted the ACLU LA in regards to certain male staff who has exhibited homophobia interrogating clients as ti certain involvement between friends. He referred to homosexuality as"wrong"his "Christian" views ars to be checked at the door. Please confer with him. Its not his businesses about the friendships bbetween us. If if doesn't stop I will file a complaint to the aclu. I will vigorously I will vigorously persue this matter.

I would send my kid back here in a heartbeat. What a relief I felt that he was in a well run organization that had my son's best interest at heart. I was able to call and check in with the program owner whenever I wanted and he didn't sugar-coat anything. My son is making huge progress, I can see it with my own eyes when we visit. I definately recommend Serene Center in Long Beach.

I love this place. The food is great & fresh off the grill. I took my family there twice when they were visiting from AZ. The liked it so much they wanted to go back. Service is awesome. We were seated within 15 minutes and there was a gang of people there. I really do their best to accommodate everyone. It's my breakfast treat when I'm not eating clean

They never give up. I was a total Bit** and tested them at every turn. But they saw the desire I had to be better and to give up the drugs. They never gave up on me, and they always supported me in a positive way. I learned to be humble, and I learned to stay clean. I actually have a relationship with my controlling Mother again too.

"My new favorite breakfast spot.Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. You can order breakfast with a crepe for about $11 bucks and the portion can almost feed 2. The steak omelet is delicious with a nice amount of steak also.Service is very good and they are always checking up on you with friendly service.Highly recommended."

"Great breakfast! Jose took excellent care of us. Coffee fresh and hot, attentive to refills. Eggs were over easy and spot on. I am always disappointed if they are under or over, eggs done right is usually a good sign. It's on my way to work, will go back for more."
Tips & Advices
If you don't have insurance, you may be able to find outpatient programs like Narcotics Anonymous that offer counseling and meetings for patients at no cost.
Some facilities accept health insurance like United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Humana and Medicaid. Many carriers support in-state assessment, detox and outpatient treatment. Some also partially cover residential or inpatient treatment. Because drug addiction is considered a disease, major health insurance providers must treat it like any other chronic condition that requires medical treatment. Be sure to inquire about co-pays and deductibles so you don't receive a surprise bill months after you start a program.
Yes. Some treatment programs promote quick sobriety through seemingly impossible means, such as herbal supplements or religious affiliation. Be wary of questionable claims like, "Shake your drug addiction in one week!" If the advertising sounds too good to be true, the program could potentially be a scam. Instead, look for organizations that include approval and certification from real doctors and health care providers.
Yes. Attending a program that is specific to your drug of choice will make your treatment much more likely to be impactful and successful.  Some provide certain users with medications like Valium and Xanax to counteract symptoms of distress associated with alcohol or drug withdrawals. You may not want to attend such programs if you fear that you may instead become addicted to these substances.
Yes. A physician can determine how severe your addiction is, which will help you decide if you want to try inpatient or outpatient treatment. He or she can also consider any withstanding health issues such as psychiatric conditions that should be factored into your decision. Next, check out facilities and programs that offer treatment for the substances that you abuse.
