Liberty The Clinic
I have been going there for 5 years. I had to shop around the staff before I found a doctor I was compatible with (Dr, Gerstner) but I always thought the doctors themselves were pretty damn good. They moved into a new, purpose built, building a couple of years ago and the other irritants immediately vanished. Wait time is laughably short and the non-MD staff really shines. I rarely give completely positive reviews, but as far as the Liberty Clinic goes, it's 5 stars here.

I Care Primary Care Clinic
They should rename to I DON'T Care KC! Dr. Peterson is all about the money and nothing more. After I started treatment he became a jerk with no compassion or understanding for what I was going through. I was only in there because of a physical dependence to pain meds but he is used to dealing with people addicted to heroine so when I became depressed after starting treatment he was rude and raised his voice to me in frustration because I was crying! Never again. Once I asked for advice on how to wean myself he simply stopped answering my texts. Which I am now on my own trying to get off subs from highest dose with no new wean script! Do NOT go here unless you want to be seen as dollar signs only! I wanted a quick wean and he wanted me there for 3+ yrs! No way!

Kennedy, David, MD
Dr Kennedy is an excellent physician but, unfortunately, Liberty Clinic is a total nightmare, especially his assistant. Patients often have to go through her and she's horrible. When calling, if you don't talk immediately to her, you'll never get a return phone call. Also, trying to see Dr Kennedy in any timely way is impossible, no matter what the condition. Dr Kennedy needs to reassess his association with this clinic and Liberty Hospital because it's greatly affecting his reputation and NOT in a good way. I'm able to see almost any other specialist sooner than I can see Dr Kennedy and that's insane. I'm currently searching for another physician.

Dr Amy Parry Do
Maybe the people writing glowing reviews for Amy Parry are fellow members of her country club. I'm not. I'm just a 1st cousin and she's been my primary doc for almost three years. I'm not just somebody holding a grudge. I"m telling you the truth. I was discharged from the hospital today.....the one where she always makes her rounds, and it's close to where her office and home are. I was in that hospital for eight days getting a triple bypass after having a heart attack 8 days ago at 4 in the morning. She was notified from the nurses in the E.R. that I was there having a heart attack and being admitted. Parry had eight days to come see me. She never showed her face or called me or my family one time. This is especially outrageous and unbelievably sad because we're blood relatives. Her staff is made up exclusively of habitual liars & lazy slobs. The place is filthy and the wait-time for your appointment and once you get in an examination room is always monumental. There's no way to ever get in touch with her if you're having any kind of emergency. No email, no voicemail, no answering service, no pager number. Nothing. This woman was ignoring me (or her evil staff was) this past few weeks while my conditioned worsened. I wonder how many people have actually died as a result of her "healthcare." Really, if you do care about your own and your family's health, avoid her at all costs. I wish there was a 'no stars' rating.

Dwarak Soundarraj MD
I have been seeing Dr. Soundarraj for the last couple of months and I am extremely pleased with the level of care he has provided thus far. I find Dr. Soundarraj extremely personable and I don't feel intimidated to ask questions. (He even exhibited a great sense of humour which I find is a rare quality in physicians.) I had to take my 2.5 year old son to appointments but Dr. Soundarraj was friendly to him and made both of us comfortable. Dr. Soundarraj takes time to explain the details, to go over the test results, and to discuss treatment options. He is also very cautious in dispensing medications which I like in doctors. His office staff are friendly and efficient and I have never waited more than 5 minutes. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Soundarraj and his office.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
