Kats Kustom Landscaping
I responded to Kathy Langford's Craig's List ad because the young man who had tended to the yard maintenance was on his way to college. She responded immediately to my call and quickly told me about how she started her own business after working in a factory and that her husband was her only employee. She came to look at the property, and I both emailed and discuss by phone my explicit needs, with which she had no objections and assured me she would take care of. She encouraged a "friendship" with frequent calls and email. She visited five times, receiving a total of $320. Because I am 82, recovering from a series of strokes, and am unable to go outside in the intense heat and humidity, my only view of the work done was that of lawn mowing and edging visible through living room windows. After the fifth visit, the temperatures had decreased enough for me to walk the one-half acre and discover to what extent Kathy had taken advantage of the situation. In an outburst of anger because I told her politely the neglect I had discovered, she screamed, "I put in 40 hours a week. I have to give my best to my corporate clients. I gave you 40 to 45 minutes each time..." Then--only then--I realized what I had foolishly bought into--a deceptively charming and manipulative woman who fulfilled barely 50 percent of her sales presentation promises. Kathy Langford is to be praised for her being the sole support of her husband and herself and for taking into her home her recently widowed mother. The pity is how devoid of integrity and decency she basically is. Never experienced anything quite like it. The $320 (that's $80 per hour) paid for at best mediocre yard work and a valuable awakening to a level of cunning and duplicity from which I had been in my long life spared. (The five-star review was written by Kathy herself and has immediately recognizable language skills. Edwardl48 is Edward Langford, her husband.)

Midlands Landscape & Lawn
If they had ever gotten back to us on our bid and big backyard project, they would have had a customer for LIFE! As it is, they left us hanging big time, 3+ months, never returned calls, never got back to us with bid on our projects, never came back and fixed our front light that has no power going to it since they installed the sprinkler system. Poor customer service and even poorer follow up. , VERY, VERY disappointed!!!!! Their loss - I guess a $20K - 25K+ project, plus re-sodding entire yard, landscaping and yard contract isn't worth your time or effort to even have the courtesy to follow up on. Had them out on March 14 to draw up plans for backyard/pool project which included expansion of decks, concrete work, pavers and stones, new fencing, re-routing and new build of decking, building a gazebo with fire pit and total landscaping isn't something that they wanted to do, yet the pictures on their site show a lot of what we wanted to do and were hoping to have done by now. Lots of promises to get back to us and a lot of stalling. Last conversation said I will get back to you with the bid or tell you we can't do it...that was a month ago...NOTHING! They still have yet to return with an electrician and fix the yard light issue. Power was cut when they installed the sprinkler system. DON'T USE THEM!!!

Tommy's Lawn Mower & Small Engine Repair
After receiving some outrageous quotes from other lawnmower repair services, I decided to contact Tommy’s Lawn Mower & Small Engine Repair, I was amaze of the professionalism and quality work. I could hardly believe it was my lawnmower when I picked it up, it looked brand new. Tommy replaced the broken parts and tuned-up the lawnmower, which prior to this I could not get it to work; now it works flawlessly. His price is extremely reasonable, actually the best I have found in this area, furthermore is work area is extremely clean and organized an indication of his attention to detail and perfectionistic approach. Based upon my experience, I highly recommend Tommy’s Lawn Mower & Small Engine Repair services. As a note: This review is based on the work Tommy did for me on April 12, 2014, I have no association with this company aside from the outstanding work that was performed on my lawnmower. A job well done! Dr. Camuy G. Heremuru

Tips & Advices
Employers must conduct all required training in a language and vocabulary that workers can understand. Training must demonstrate the hazards of operating certain machinery, like stone cutters and splitters, as well as how to use them appropriately. It's important to verify that your landscape contractor has taken the necessary steps to fully train its personnel and that the appropriate safety precautions are in place.
Check the specific regulations for your area, and verify that your contractor has the necessary licenses. These may include a state contractor's license, pesticide license, CDL driver's license and license to sell and purchase nursery stock.
Landscape work is not cheap, so it's in your best interest to make sure that it's done to your requirements and that you get the best contractor to do the job. Homeowners should know how much they'll need to pay for the contractor's service as well as how they will be billed for this work. Ask about any design fees, if quoted prices are fixed or estimates, and what the payment process will be. Clarifying these items in the beginning will prevent any surprise expenses.
Yes. Homeowners should require that the contractor submit certificates verifying compliance with safety, insurance, workers' compensation and drug and alcohol testing programs. This will give you peace of mind that the contractor has gone through all the steps under industry regulations.
Yes. Every good contractor should have a list of recently completed jobs that you can see in their portfolio. They should also have a list of references that you can contact, or properties that you can see in person.
