Above and Beyond, LLC
Above and Beyond constructed a 12'x12' "island" deck in my backyard. Kevin was very friendly, but still professional, in my initial telephone conversations with him. He said that they could get my [simple] project done within 3-4 weeks, which was good since a couple other contractors that I called couldn't get to it until the fall. I wanted to get some use out of my deck this summer! His crew was able to assemble the deck base at their facility and brought it here to place and level it in my backyard, and then continued to lay the top decking...which only took them 3 hours, working quickly and thoroughly. And within the 3-4 week timeframe as Kevin indicated. Kevin gave me some tips on staining and sealing it.As an aside, Above and Beyond had constructed my son's garage the previous year, so based on my son's satisfaction with them, I felt confident I had made the right choice in contractors. In fact, after talking with Kevin, I am going to call them later this fall to have some interior doors replaced. Cost of the project was right on target for what I had estimated the job would run. Not a "cheap" deal...quality product for a reasonable price.Responsiveness could use improvement. After signing the contract, I did not hear from them until the morning they arrived to do the work...I was growing concerned that they had forgotten me. That said, however, they did complete the project within the 3-4 week time period that Kevin gave me. A lesson learned here for others. If you are having outside construction done, be sure to call them in very early spring so they can get you on their schedule. That seems to be the biggest hurdle for having summer construction being able to get on their schedule as early as possible, since late spring/summer/fall are their busiest times.Very satisfied with Above and Beyond.
Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
