Alvarez, Nitza I, MD
My experience is more with the physician than with the business. Dr Alvarez is not only a competent cardiovascular specialist, but she listens to her patients. No, I need to correct that statement. When I called her the first time in 2013, I was not her patient, in fact, she had never seen me before, but she made time for me to come in to see her within hours of my first phone call to her. Within 4 days of that first call she had diagnosed my cardiac issue and has implanted a loop recorder in my heart, which saved my life many times in the following months and years to come. She treats both men and women, but, because women have such different symptoms than the typical ones most people associate with cardiac issues, I would recommend her with the most high recommendation that you can give to any physician. I credit her as one of many doctors who have saved my life throughout the years. Thank you Nitza. Wanda Crim-Peters

I had my colonoscopy sometime 2012 with Dr. Padman in The Villages site. It was done very well. This doctor has the skills, experience, and the credentials that I needed for my health need. Above all, his excellent beside manners made me feel so safe and comfortable and I know next time he will be same doctor I would go to for a similar procedure.Today, when I requested for an extra copy of my results, I got amazed at how his medical assistant acted in less than 5 minutes to mail it to me ASAP! Unbelievably wonderful!Dr. Patrocenia D. Matthew (Patient)

Although there was a wait, the doctor got delayed at the hospital. I was fit into the schedule that morning for something important that came up and PERSONALLY appreciate that the doctor took the necessary time to spend with others and me. QUALITY CARE is the most important criteria I can think of.

Thanks for making my experience pleasant and comfortable. The staff is great, the radiologists were thorough - this is the only facility where I've ever received an exam during my yearly exam, and my mammogram results were given to me right at my appointment. Wow! Superb!

Tips & Advices
A child should see his or her pediatrician frequently during the first few years. Once the child reaches age 3, parents should schedule a doctor's visit at least once per year. Before that, however, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests parents arrange visits according to the following schedule:
  • 2 to 5 days old
  • 1 month old
  • 4 months old
  • 6 months old
  • 9 months old
  • 12 months old
  • 15 months old
  • 24 months old (2 years)
  • 30 months old (2.5 years)
No, parents should call 911, an emergency physician, or a pediatric emergency physician if a child suffers an acute illness or injuries. Doctors in these fields are more qualified than pediatricians to handle emergency situations.
A well-visit is a routine visit with a pediatrician to track a child's development, discuss medical or emotional concerns, and receive immunizations and medical advice.
Yes, pediatricians provide immunizations for infants and children up through 21 years.
No, pediatricians do not have to be board certified. They're only required to have a state license. However, certification indicates a dedication to studying pediatrics beyond the requirements.
