Sandy Hill Animal Clinic
If there was a way to give Dr. Anast and the staff at Sandy Hill a 100 out of 5 stars, we would! Have been bringing our pets here for 20 years and have never had a single bad experience. Words cannot honestly fully express how much we appreciate this business. We have honestly been brought to tears many times by the depth of compassion this vet has towards our pets and our family. Could NEVER imagine anyone better! Dr. Anast has treated 6 cats and 5 dogs for us through these years and he has always been able to properly diagnose and treat them quickly and effectively. It is so reassuring to know he is there whenever anything goes wrong with any of our pets. When a few of these family pets have reached the end of their long dusty trail, Dr. Anast and staff have been there to help everyone through with great sensitivity and compassion. Our entire family, including our 2 children, love this guy and have the utmost faith in him!! When one of our Dalmatians was in her later years she had a stroke on New Years Eve, which fell on a Saturday. Dr. Anast made a special trip into the office for us and stayed late to make sure she was stable. After keeping her overnight, she was well enough to bring home on New Years Day. Dr. Anast met us at the office that Sunday and gave us a gift - of a fully functioning dog to bring home - and to answer our questions and give care instructions. Now how many vets in this city would ever go out of their way like that, especially on a holiday weekend?!! He has also treated the occasional rat, hamster, or other small critter that our kids have collected through years. He's never turned us away and has always treated all critters with kindness - and always knew exactly what was wrong and healed their ailments! It's hard to understand how anyone could give a bad review, but it takes all kinds. As they say, you can't please all the people all of the time. All we can say for anyone who was unhappy (and obviously didn't give Sandy Hill a fair try) - it's their loss and good riddance. Anyone who truly loves their animals and appreciates having them looked after by a loving, caring, knowledgeable, and capable doctor cannot go wrong with Dr. Anast and Sandy Hill. Thank you so much for all the things you've done for our family over the years Dr. Anast! There never has been and never will be any better veterinarian. We know one day you may want to, but we hope you never retire!

Flamingo Pet Clinic
My I just start out by saying if you have an exotic pet that is in need of true TLC This is the place to take them!! 6am I went to check on my hedgehog before work and her eye was bloody and swollen. Panic struck I called the first vet I found online, horrible idea, I got a hold ofAnimal Emergency Center 3340 E Patrick Ln, Las Vegas,NV 89120(702) 457-8050I explained the situation to the receptionist and she said yes we can help come on in. We get there and the "vet" took two seconds to look at her and said her eye wasn't savable and they were about to close and couldn't help! WHY tell me to come in then?!? The "vet was so rude and mean no concern for my little one! like I said took 2 seconds to look at her then said coldly," Well that eye is done for. You'll have to have it removed! We're about to close so we can't help" After my bf asked is there really nothing you can do, why were we told to come right in? the man called him a Jerk! REAL PROFESSIONAL, NOT! he needs to go sell cars or something, there's no way he CARES for any animal that comes in there! I was sick to my stomach the way they talked to and treated us!DO NOT GO HERE^ GO to FLAMINGO PET CLINIC INSTEAD! It's right down the street and MUCH better choice! We took our little baby to the Flamingo Pet Clinic at 7:30. They weren't open untill 8 but I saw one of the techs arrive, Jason, and explained the situation. As soon he opened the clinic, he got us in a room and gave her something for pain! The doctor arrived shortly after. Dr. Williams is beyond fantastic! This staff is definitely here for the animals! He spent time with her and even said it wasn't necessarily a total loss for the eye. They sent us home with an ointment to help the swelling of the eyelid, antibiotics and pain medicine. He needs the swelling to go down to see the eye and source of the problem. Thank God for people like Jason and Dr. Williams who truly care about the animals. It was about 40 mins from home but after the care we received today I would do it everyday if necessary! 110% A++++++ Thank you!!!!

VCA Hualapai Animal Hospital
After moving here in June, my golden got a UTI so I was referred by a friend to VCA Hualapai and we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Jen Sapanos. She was great with our golden and texted me immediately with test results and even checked on her throughout the week. Unfortunately not long after that our dog had an accident while playing and simply come down wrong from jumping and ruptured a disc with bruising to her spine. She had to be taken to an after hours emergency vet due to the time of the incident. She has paralysis now in her hind quarters (which should improve once the swelling goes down on her spine). Although Dr. Sapanos is not her doctor throughout this recovery because the spinal injury requires a neuro-specialist, Dr. Sapanos has been actively texted to check on her well being and has even helped with getting us information for local physical therapist. I have had many dogs and moved a few times so I have had multiple vets throughout . I have never had one go above and beyond to help my dog like Dr. Jen Sapanos. She is stil texted to check on her even though she is not seeing her for this injury. I am so thankful for her time and help with our golden. I HIGHLY recommend her. The office staff is also just as helpful and friendly and I have no doubt the rest of the vets in this office are just as amazing .

Sandy Hill Animal Clinic
If you want a DVM that truly has a warm heart, the gift of compassion and knowledge with experience, then this is the place for you. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Dr. Anast buy my best friend in 1994 (somewhere around that time) I have seen first hand the compassion and dedication that the entire staff at the Sandy Hill Animal Clinic provides to their patients as well as their owners. Doc George has to be one of the nicest, kindest, giving, professional, empathetic Vets that I have ever met in any state. He is first and foremost concerned for the patient, animal, pet that he is treating. His generous and compassionate personality and knowledge of medicine combined make him nearly a Saint. He and his beautiful wife Chery have to be two of the nicest people I've ever met and I entrust Dr. Anast with all of my pet needs and recommend him all of the time. I have sent numerous friends to him over the years and they too LOVE HIM and his staff. I would recommend that if you haven't taken your pet there before... it's time to start... that is if you want the best care, from the best DVM ever. My heart, friendship and loyalty to Dr. Anast and wife Cheryl for always being fantastic caregivers and advocates to God's gift to us, our little furry and sometimes not so furry loved ones.John DavisLas Vegas, NV

Sandy Hill Animal Clinic
Dr. Anast is the best vet I have ever known!!! We have taken all of our animals to him over the years, current total is 7 dogs and 4 cats he even had me bring in my rat that had a growth on his face that turned out to be nothing but an abcess that he lanced and cleaned for me. I brought my cat in who was knocking on deaths door, after running her blood work (ALWAYS RUN BLOODWORK!!!) nothing showed really, after a lengthy discussion we found out her problem was that she had stopped eating her own food and only ate dog food so she was lacking torine. One of our dogs in that the emergency vet had told us we would have to put him down and Anast informed us that he was only epileptic. Dr. Anast has been nothing but compassionate twords us and our animals and I am so very glad to have a vet like him, I would never let any other vet touch my animals so long as Dr. Anast is alive and well. I've had animals taken forcibly from me and friends because we could not pay our bill up front, thank god for Anasts good heart, he always lets us make payments for their treatment because we have been coming to the clinic for so long and he doesn't want to see an animal turned away suffering. He will go above and beyond for you and your pets...you couldn't make a better decision then chosing him as your vet.

Blue Diamond Animal Hospital
They saved our dog when 2 other vets wanted to upsell, give unnecessary treatments and diagnostics and Dr. Herr at Blue Diamond Animal Hospital was clearly full of integrity, compassion and competence which showed far above the other two vets (one, of them being our original vet). We owe so much to these people! My dog was swiftly diagnosed by listening to all of her symptoms, doing one test upon Dr. Herr's suspected assessment and his suspicion was supported by the single test he performed. We were asked by another vet to pay $1722 for one day of diagnostics that ran from neurology to bloodwork and everything in-between as opposed to Dr. Herr's single test and medication that resulted in a reasonable and affordable bill! THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr. Herr and Staff! Cookie Monsa Mason is a dog again and owes you her life! (if not some scrumptious cookies)Cookie has Addison's Disease, and the treatment is a shot once a month. Her adrenal gland wasn't working and would have caused kidney failure if we hadn't caught it in time. The shot she will get once a month is affordable and will keep her healthy the rest of her life! GOD BLESS Blue Diamond Animal Hospital abundantly for putting integrity and compassion at the top of their treatment list!

Sandy Hill Animal Clinic
Sandy Hill Animal Clinic is the BEST vets office I have EVER had the pleasure of taking my pets and my friends and families pets to. I've been a loyal customer since around 2010. Since then I have been taking my 4 pets to see Dr. Anast. He is not only the most awesome veterinarian ever, but he is one of the most kind-hearted, caring, and genuine PEOPLE I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. My recent visit was recently when a friend's dog had a very severe emergency. I didn't know what to do so I took the dog to Sandy Hill. The second we ran trough the door the staff dropped everything to help this dying dog. Since we came in prior to closing time, Dr. Anast offered to take the dog home to watch her and make sure she survived the night since the clinic isn't open 24 hours. Unfortunately, the dog had to be put down but the Dr. and staff were very caring and helpful. They did everything they could to help the dog survive and to ensure her comfort and the comfort of myself and the dog's owner. Also, my life savings wasn't drained after the fact. I am very thankful and extremely happy I found such an awesome vets office. I will recommend Sandy Hill to anyone and everyone, always.

Caring Hands Animal Hospital
I absolutely love this place. They are so genuinely kind... from the people in the front to the vet techs to the vets. My rescue dog had heart worms and I was absolutely heartbroken. Dr. Todd was incredibly sympathetic and walked me through the entire process of what the plan of action was. When I picked her up each time from her treatments (3 in total), they always made sure I was confident in knowing the instructions as far as what medicine to administer, etc. I've been seen by Dr. Todd, Dr. Sites and Dr. Robinson and they are all equally fantastic and knowledgeable. I can usually call and get an appointment right away for just about anything, and it's nice that they are open late (until 8 I think?). I've also been to the Alexandria location (they did not have an available appointment as soon as I needed it, so they made one there for me, which was nice). The location is clean, just like Arlington, and the staff there is just as great. Caring Hands seems to cost a bit more than other local vets, but it's definitely worth the extra money knowing that your pets are getting fantastic treatment.

Aloha Animal Hospital
This is Dr. Jamie of Aloha and I wanted to reply to Andrea S. comments about the loss of her pet. I am sorry that I am unable to comment directly on your review but I do hope that you see this. We do feel very badly for your loss and understand that you are angry about the unexpected loss of your pet however we cannot take blame for your loss. Unfortunately, we did see your pet in October of 2015, a year before you took him to another veterinarian and had to have him put to sleep. We did not find an answer on the bloodwork and exam that we performed that day but we did recommend further testing because we felt that you pet had cancer that we had not yet identified. You elected not to pursue any further testing and did not return to us with him for any follow up care. So while I do understand how heartbreaking it is to lose a pet, we did try our best to help you find the illness affecting your pet. Our sympathies for your loss.

Spencer Springs Animal Hosp
"BEST VET IN VEGAS" Dr. Susie Costa - Fakler, D.V.M. - Spencer Springs Animal Hospital Dr. Susie Costa has taken care of our dog (Fred a Rhodesian Ridgeback) for the past 4 years and we have always been treated with such great care, respect and love for our pet so I decided to Yelp about it. I consider her to be the best vet in Las Vegas and she will always be our veterinarian as long as she is in Las Vegas. Dr. Costa is especially good with our very large 118 lbs service animal. She is not only exceptionally loving and attentive, but She said is always well-organized, and offers the kind of personal care you can only get from a smaller operation. (I've seen the back area, too.) She is also very sensitive to weighing the benefits of a procedure versus the stress it would cause to the animal. This professional veterinarian is a gift to the community. PLUS, her prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend her!
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
