North Rainbow Veterinary Emergency Hospital
We unfortunately had to use their services at 3:00am last week, when our dog was dying and in severe pain. The staff was very compassionate. They allowed us all the time we needed and wanted during each phase of him continuing with his journey crossing over Thank you all for your assistance at this difficult time. The card you sent was very thoughtful. Our animals are our babies. Thank you.

I brought my Precious and my Princess in today, and I see how this place lives up to its name. I arrived early, and Kayleigh let us in to get out of the heat. Victoria was very informative and pleasant. DVM. Karen M. Goodman was thorough and professional doing the exams on my babies. They are very kind and professional. I won't go anywhere else. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANIMAL KINDNESS VETERINARY HOSPITAL TO ANYONE WHO LOVES THEIR BABIES AND WANTS THE BEST CARE FOR THEIR BABIES. 10 STARS FOR SURE.

I feel bad about only giving three stars because the veterinarians at MVAH are usually friendly and well-knowledgeable, and my family has gone to them since their opening a couple of decades ago, but one staff member in particular has essentially harassed me. When I told her I was a client's daughter, and I had no control over my mother's balance, she told me "well, this is the phone number we have, the other one is out of service". I ensured her the number was correct and to try again. I explained that they must've had my number because I came in with my parents to a few visits because my childhood dog was dying of cancer, and I wanted to know his prognosis (got him when I was 12. I'm now 26), but I wasn't the owner of the account she was trying to collect on. I asked her to please not call my number again, and again verified that the number they had on file was one which she could reach my parents at. Still, when they didn't answer, she called me again (btw, this was all around 8:00 a.m., and father is permanently disabled, my mother needs hip surgery, so their a little slow to move/crickety in the morning hours). This time I had to be stern and explain that I was the adult daughter of a client and it wasn't right to continually call me about my parents bill, I had to make an analogy, saying "the gas company wouldn't call me for my parents bill" (like, why are you then?). She finally agreed to stop calling me when gave her yet another number for my parents, but who knows, I'll have to wait and see if I get called three days in a row. It's sad because I know that 99% of the MVAH staff are courteous and caring professionals, I would hate for one person to taint their reputation as one of the best veterinary clinics in Las Vegas.

The doctors are kind, and hopefully knowledgeable. BUT the overnight hospital has no staff on duty. My cat pulled his IV out immediately and no one was there to attend to him. I was stunned - why pay for pricey overnight services if no one is on duty? A host of situations might occur for a sick animal that needs immediate attention. It should be stated up front that no tech is present. Secondly the veterinarians rotate their days which means you can never have a follow up with the same veterinarian. The health history has to be reviewed each visit. I like every veterinarian there but the above complaints make it necessary to find a new clinic. Plus the prices are steep!

Know that your animals are in loving hands who know what to do in emergency situations. They saved my Mom's furbabies life and her's really too. They took such good care of her 2 poodles she has an emotional attachment to the office. My Mom's furbabies are her life and My Mom's furbabies health is connected to her health. Dr. Morgan is really amazing to my mother which makes my Mom's life less stressful and her life better. Dr. Morgan is helping more than just the animals.

Words cannot express how grateful we are to everyone at Mountain Vista Animal Hospital for the way they've treated us and our pets these last 10 years. At the time we made the switch we had two senior cats and two senior dogs, and the care Dr. Taylor & Dr. Wagner provided not only extended their lives but preserved and even improved the quality of it. Especially Dr. Wagner's acupuncture treatments. When it was finally time to put each of our dogs down, (male was 12, female was 15) Dr. Wagner came out to our house. What an amazing last act of kindness for an animal and its humans. When it came time to let each of the cats go, they passed in the hospital, but Dr. Wagner and the MVAH staff were all just amazing. At MVAH appointments are always easy to make, and I've never been kept waiting an unreasonable amount of time past my scheduled appointment time. Another thing that MVAH does differently than any other vet's office I've ever dealt with, is that if I feel my pet needs to be seen urgently, the staff will make sure my pet gets seen. There's an emergency appointment option available, or the option to drop your pet off and have the doctors examine it when they can. That is such a blessing. When your pet is really sick you don't want to have to take it to a stranger. Dr. Taylor and Dr. Wagner always go above and beyond and constantly exceed my expectations. During our appointments they each will address all our concerns and neither have ever made us feel rushed. They each also make the time to call and check on our pets after they've been in for a procedure or have been treated for an illness. That's amazing! Our current dog is now 5, and Drs. Taylor & Wagner have been taking fabulous care of him since he was 8 weeks old, so he absolutely LOVES going to vet.

Dr. Wasen has cared for three of our dogs. One of them was going to be euthanized prematurely and he saved him and treated him and gave him over a year of good quality life. He has also rediagnosed another of our dogs and helped him with a liver condition. We respect Dr. Wasen and his ability to care for our precious little friends.
Tips & Advices
Bring medical records and medications that your pet is taking. Also, you should bring your ID and a form of payment.
Yes, there are veterinary clinics that only deal with emergency cases. They generally take walk-ins and referrals from family vets.
Yes, emergency vets treat dental emergencies and dental trauma. Freshly fractured teeth are the main category of dental injury that vets consider an emergency.
To prevent health emergencies, experts recommend supervising one’s pets, and trying to make sure they don’t get into emergency situations. A majority of emergency vet visits happen because animals were struck by cars, bit by other animals, or ingested toxins. Otherwise, the best way to prevent emergencies is by having a go-to vet you can call with any questions, and being vigilant about potential symptoms (i.e. runny stool, or trouble walking) as they appear but before they become extremely serious.
Experts say that the conditions that necessitate an emergency veterinarian visit include collapse, seizures, inability to walk, partial paralysis, and any difficulty breathing (non-stop panting, constant coughing, hyperventilation, or elevated heart rate). Gum color is often an indicator that something is wrong--especially blue gums or very pale gums. Excessive vomiting or a distended abdomen should be considered an emergency situation. Signs of any trauma or excessive bleeding should send your pet straight to the vet. Lastly, for cat owners, urinary obstruction is fatal if not treated, and generally occurs in male cats.
