Las Cruces Dental Solutions
This was the best dental appointment I have ever had, and I have had plenty! The staff is courteous, friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable, respectful and extremely good at their jobs. They actually listened and answered every question I had, I never felt rushed and always felt comfortable enough to ask whatever I wanted. Dr. Petersen took the time to tell me everything that was going on with my teeth, answering my questions, and even drew me a diagram so I could better understand! I learned more about my teeth in 1 visit than I have in 4 YEARS at my previous dentist. As for the actual procedures, absolutely the best cleaning & extraction I have ever had! Dr. Petersen is an excellent dentist, he performed the most painless, actually pain free, extraction ever! I would like to thank : The receptionist, who worked with me on making sure I got an appointment when I needed it. Taking the time to check my insurance and call me about a procedure that was needed and covered that I didn't know about. Lonny & Chrystal, who listened and answered all my questions and performed the best cleaning ever.Dr.Petersen, for having such a wonderful & extremely knowledgeable staff and being the most genuinely caring and intelligent dentist I have ever had!

Debbie L. Ashida D.D.S.
I relocated to New Mexico a year ago. I was in need of a dentist. Because of the elevation here my wisdom tooth began giving me trouble. I never had a problem with my teeth, and this was a different kind of pain. I went on line in search of a dentist, and most if the reviews were mixed. Being a business owner for twenty years I knew frist hand how reviews worked. I choose Dr. Ashida and I'm very happy I did. The staff in her office were very friendly, and Dr. Ashida was very kind. She took care of my issue, and I've had my front tooth repaired too. I love this office and the service is the best. I highly recommend this dental office to all that has relocated, and looking for a wonderful dentist.

Las Cruces Dental Solutions
This place is great. Before coming here I hated the dentist like most people but I was in desperate need of one in Las Cruces when I experienced severe chronic tooth pain. I'm not from Las Cruces so i was skeptical about going to a new dentist. Tuns out I needed a root canal but the staff and the dentist were all very nice and comforting. The procedure was PAINLESS and my teeth have never felt better. They also made me want to improve my dental health and prevent any more pain in the future. I'd recommend them to anyone who doesn't like going to the dentist or is looking for a new one. This is the best I've been to and will continue to go to them as long as I'm in Las Cruces.

Bright Star Dental - Brian J Gilbert DDS
Dr. Gilbert made what I thought was going to be a horrible experience (based on prior crowns) THE most wonderful experience. The attention to detail as far as my comfort, what was happening, what was coming etc., by both the doctor and his assistant Virginia was terrific. Also, the billing aspect of the visit was clearly stated, with all my options etc. I would, and will, recommend family and friends to Dr. Gilbert, should they require similar dental work. I could not be happier with this visit. Thank you all. Extremely polite staff, from the receptionist, billing person, assistant and doctor. GREAT TEAMWORK!

Bright Star Dental - Brian J Gilbert DDS
The experience with Dr. Gilbert and his staff was excellent. I was seen on time, which is important to me because I have a very busy schedule. The sedation provided to me was the appropriate amount, as I was comfortable and did not experience any pain during the procedure. Dr. Gilbert was attentive and explained the process of placing a new crown, so I knew what he was doing and why. After the measurements were completed, I scheduled to come in about an hour later. The new crown fit very well and I was able to return to work without any problems. As always, my experience with Dr. Gilbert was exceptional.

I recently had the privilege of being treated at LCDS on a walk in basis. As a new patient (transferred) I walked in to schedule an examination and cleaning. LCDS was able to provide an appointment that afternoon. The staff, front reception to Dr. Petersen made me feel welcome and their number one concern. I like that. Honestly the best teeth cleaning I’ve ever had. There was no rush and they used modern technology to ease the examination. Being over 50 yrs old and serviced by many dentist through the years I’m very picky. I rate LCDS very high and will return.

I will recommend Dr. Gilbert's office to everyone that I know that needs any assistance on their teeth. The staff and Dr. Gilbert are the best group of people I have ever meet in this type of setting! My Dentlay Hygienist Deanna is the most sweetest and kind person I have met in a long time. She does a wonderful job! Dr. Gilbert is the first doctor that I have meet that actually calls you personally to greet you before your first visit and calls personally to see how you are feeling! That is amazing, thank you Dr. Gilbert!

Las Cruces Dental Solutions
I am afraid of dentists. Yea! But guess what..we all need to get a check up, right? When I recieved a flyer in the mail I made my decision to get my teeth checked. I finally got insurance. As soon as I entered Dental Solutions, I knew I made the right choice. The staff from the front desk to the Dentist himself, Mathew Peterson, DDS, made me more confident in my choise. Yes I have to get my teeth extracted, but I know I am in good hands. Go get your teeth checked NOW..before it's to late. David Quinones

Went to Dental Solutions for the first time for a cleaning. Oscar at the front desk offers a warm welcome. The office is very clean. The hygienist did a great job on my teeth. I was confused, however, as to why the dental assistant saw me first and took xrays, polished my teeth, then flossed them before the hygienist cleaned them. Totally backwards from what I have had previously done. I prefer the polishing and flossing after my teeth are cleaned. Otherwise I had a great check up!?

The doctor and staff are very caring and friendly. I have been a patient of Dr. Gilbert since 2001. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with every visit. He makes sure all of his patients are comfortable and are satisfied with his work. The atmosphere is very relaxed and soothing. I want to thank Dr. Gilbert and his staff for all they have done to make me feel as though I am part of their dental family. I love my smile! I look forward to my next visit!
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
