HORRIBLE.It took 10 days to change a spark plug, they performed work before informing me of what needed done, and they told me they need to replace a part that doesn't even exist on my car.Not to mention their tow truck put a HOLE in my bumper.

I called AAA for a tow, they sent Silverback Towing out. What nice people from the dispatcher I talked to about meeting the tow truck a few minutes late. To the tow driver Ted they seem to be a really good group of people. I know who is our new auto repair shop.

South Duke Auto Repair
My daughter came home from school needing her car inspected. We had lost our mechanic due to a traffic accident. With no idea where to go, a friend suggested South Duke Auto Repair. My daughter was treated with respect, and with just a phone call ahead she had her car inspected and was ready to go within 2 hrs. Very pleased, they did not try and take advantage of her and that means the world to me.

You call yourself a comapny!? You are VERY unprofessional, the employee was very rude and disrespectful. Not a happy customer. Would not recommend this place to anyone! especially if you need them out on the road like I did. I wasn't expecting such an unpleasant experience.

C & J Auto Repair
Chris is a fair and honest mechanic. I have been taking my cars here for over 5 years. I found C&J after having my old mechanic at Cabbage Hill "fix" the problem for hundreds of dollars multiple times withing the span of a few months. Chris had found that parts I was paying for were not actually being replaced and identified the problem the first time I brought my car in and had it fixed the next day. He will not over charge you or rip you off either, I often ask him if I need new filters or spark plugs or tires rotated, ect and he often tells me things I think may need replaced are actually not necessary and tries to save me a few bucks when it's acceptable. He's also really accommodating to my work schedule with dropping off my car overnight and having it ready for me at a certain time for pick up. My only criticism is sometimes he gets backed up a few days and you have to wait for an appointment. Other days you could stop by and he is available right then and there. I have learned to call ahead and to try to schedule a week before.

Arocha's Automotive
I've been there a few times and I've never been disappointed with their work. They don't exactly give a "Professional" vibe but they seemed to do good work and it was affordable. What brings me to this page today was not to leave a review but to look up their number to make an appointment... but I was surprised at the relatively low rating and had to balance it out somewhat.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
