Bartram Robert Fence Contracting
I first saw a new picket fence going up in my neighborhood, while I was walking the dog. It was beautifully done. I found out who the contractor was--Bob Bartram--and called him to please come give me an estimate for repairs to my chain-link fence around my front yard, and driveway fence. His estimate was very reasonable. The work has now been done, and it is a beautiful job. I am thrilled at how good it looks, and how it increases the curb appeal of my house. Bob always returned my calls; was prompt and courteous; and completed his work very quickly and cleanly. I highly recommend him!
Tips & Advices
Homeowners should work with a fencing contractor who is certified by or a member of one or more trade organizations, including American Fence Association or the North American Fence Contractors Association.
If a contractor requires an immediate decision, asks you to pay cash or doesn't provide an estimate.
  • Ask for portfolio examples
  • What's their reputation?
  • Is the work guaranteed?
  • Is there a warranty?
With exposure to the sun and the elements, wood fences are prone to cracking, warping and cupping. homeowners are encouraged to clean, seal and stain their fence at least every three years. Clean the fence with a specially formulated cleaner. After 15 to 20 minutes, use a pressure washer to remove any mold, mildew and debris from the fence. Then seal and stain the fence to protect it. An oil stain is recommended, as it penetrates the material and can maintain its condition for years.
Homeowners may use soap and water to clean off these materials, but they generally don't require much more than that. These options can be good for those that want a sturdy but low-touch fence.
