Had been using this shop for about 6 to 7 years and always had good and honest service with Ken and Steve, but stopped using them after a display of poor customer relations and ill judgment skills on their part. Upon running late to get finished car for a Saturday appt (for which we advised we'd be back that day to pick up), no one answered our courtesy call to them nor answered or checked the already locked business door (we did arrive probably 1 minute or so after closing time). With all the kids' car seats in the vehicle now not accessible until Tuesday morning (very inconveniencing), not even repeated unanswered calls nor posting requests to FB account regarding the situation helped. Upon our Tuesday morning pickup, Steve in the company of Ken and a customer used every excuse in the book to discount my responsible actions and counter my reputable attempts taken to advise them of the situation. I was diplomatic and polite telling them that I wouldn't be back and advised them that poor customer service and just plain out lack of common sense on their part was to blame. Like I said, I have always had good and honest car service, but this really caught me off-guard and was surprising as to their ill-posed defense. Exercising good customer service (even common sense/judgment) and just checking would have advised them that 'hey, we have one more customer yet to pick their car up.' Hmm, not even a free oil-change for the inconvenience or misunderstanding was offered. . . what a way to keep your customers!

Speedy Transmission Centers
Nov 16 at 5:50 PM I'd been having some problems with my Acura TL. As it got more noticeable, I went to my local Firestone dealership in Farragut. They thought it was more than likely a transmission problem and referred me to Speedy Transmission at 418 S. Northshore Dr. Calvin and his office staff seemed very knowledgeable and very personable. He road tested my car and then suggested I leave it overnight so he could run his diagnostic equipment on a cold engine the next morning. I was able to go on home in an old , but very clean, loaner vehicle. The following morning, I returned to pick up my car and wondering what kind of expenses I should expect. Calvin said he could not find anything wrong and suggested I go to the Acura dealership if the slight problem I was having proceeded to get worst. I was happy with the outcome, and was very surprised when he told me "no charge"! There was no charge for the nice loaner vehicle [except to replace the gas I used] and the diagnostic testing was free as well. Since I have very limited knowledge about car problems, he could have so easily charged me for something I didn't need. How refreshing to find a mechanic so honest ! I will certainly recommend his shop to my family and friends! Thanks Calvin! Louise Kinser

Speedy Transmission Centers
Great Customer Service! I was recently told I needed to have my transmission (as well as my coolant) flushed/changed after an oil change. I called seven different shops, including the dealer, for prices and each told me that it needed to be done and it would be $150+. However, when I called Speedy Transmission they immediately told me that they thought I might have a synthetic fluid in my transmission and that I didn't need to have it serviced at all (or at least not until 100k+ miles). The manager spent 7 1/2 minutes on the phone with me verifying his assumption and then explaining how my fluid would look different, how I didn't need the service, and how if I brought it by he would verify that was indeed the case and run a diagnostic on the transmission to check it AT NO CHARGE. It just so happens, that they were $30+ dollars cheaper on the coolant flush than any other shop as well. I was in and out within an hour. Simply put, they saved me a lot of money, were the only honest (and most knowledgeable) people I spoke with, and I couldn't be happier. The customer service there before and during my time in the shop is the best I have ever received at any automotive service center. I would highly recommend Speedy Transmission to all.

Budget Transmission
This is the first time I have ever had to have anything this big done on my car and I was terrified being disabled and having limited funds. I just happened to call this place and Jerry, the owner, answered the phone. I was clueless. He spent at least half hour on the phone with me explaining everything and answering questions. My transmission had been "going out" for quite sometime. I needed it fixed right and I needed a warranty to take care of it for a little while. Jerry assured me I would have both. They are wonderful to keep in touch with you during the process to let you know how things are going. John is another one I talked with a few times on the phone and he too, answered all my questions and kept in contact with me until my car was ready. I would be very happy to refer anyone to go there. They are very professional. The best part of the entire experience was picking up my car yesterday! It is like a new car. A 2001 Honda Accord and it runs like it did 10 years ago when I bought it. I think I had forgotten how bad it was. I am very happy with it. If you have a transmission problem, call Jerry or John and they will be glad to take care of you. I sure am glad I did.

Mr. Cool Complete Auto Care
I've had my vehicles in here for a couple of different reasons over the last year. A little over a month ago, I had to have brakes and new rotors put on my Toyota truck. A week or so later, I noticed as I backed up a high pitch squeal, mainly after my truck was parked for some time. My first thought was due to new brakes they just needed to get seated together and would be fine. However the noise continued until I finally took it in Yesterday.I dropped it off and left it there for the day and receive a call later in the day. They had not been able to get it to replicate, since I had to drive it there. I suggested they keep it overnight and back it up first thing in the morning. I received a call around 2 PM on Saturday at my truck was ready to be picked up. They had put new rotors and new pads on my truck. The shocking part was when they told me there was no additional charge. Each time I have had my vehicle there, they have demonstrated nothing less than complete honesty and integrity in dealing with me. I would recommend this auto shop to anyone needing auto repairs in the Knoxville area. The prices are reasonable, the work is great, but the service is outstanding!

Transmission Corporation of America
I was referred to Transmission corp by NAPA Iron Clad warranty Dept...while I would never again recommend or buy a NAPA product insured by Iron Clad warranties... I am recommending this shop... they fell into a bad situation... Michelle help resolve the issues I encountered with Iron Clad ... she was able to step in and reach higher management and resolved my oroblems...Michelle had spent 3 weeks with Iron Clad and it was going no where... she then contacted higher management at NAPA and resolved the issues... she was available after hours and updated us on the process each step of the way ...All the employees are extremely professional and friendly... they went out of their way to be sure I was satisfied...I felt the shop was honest, thorough and not looking to price gouge.. if I should need their service in the future I will be going back to Transmission Corp of America in Knoxville, TN...

Speedy Transmission Centers
After being told by a national oil change franchise that I needed about $600 worth of work on my oil gaskets, I took my vehicle to Speedy Transmission and they did a free inspection. They took pictures of the problem, showed them to me, and even took me back so I could see the problem for myself. The problem ended up being a leaky O-Ring that was connected to a hydraulic tensioner. Calvin went out of his way to research the problem and when he realized his shop did not have the proper equipment, he sent me to another fair and honest person that could fix it. Calvin and the employees at Speedy Transmission are fair and honest. They will not sell you what you do not need. This is the only place I will take my vehicles from now on.

Gibson's Repair
My baby is an 86 560SL, red on black, with 39k miles. My father kept her in the garage with a cover over her, he rarely drove her, he was a large man and preferred his SEL's. When I had her towed to Knoxville she had 27k miles, and her tags had been expired for four years. I have no idea how long it had been since she was even started. To make a long story short, the fifth mechanic that tried to get her running had it towed to his brother-n-laws mechanic, Don Gibson. Don had it running the night he got it, which was the evening before my father's funeral. I love this man! No one, other than Don or his son Dewayne, will ever touch my car again. They are strictly Mercedes, and they are the best.

Gillespie Imports
This place is where I am taking my vehicles for now on. My car had an issue accelerating on the highway. So I took it to a dealership not once but twice and they couldn't get it right and still charged me a ton of money. I took my car to Gillespie and they diagnosed it correctly the first time. It was a very complicated engine repair and they gave me a fair price. The car runs better now than it ever did. (on a side note). No mechanic just like a doctor gets everything right all the time. These other few reviews are just p.o'd people leaving a review because happy customers usually don't take time to leave reviews. I do because I owe them one. They have been great to me.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
