MINI of Knoxville
I had car trouble last Monday night in Tennessee while on road trip from New England to Louisiana (dash light indicating electronics malfunction came on at a rest stop-- manual advised me to "discontinue my journey") and had to have my Mini towed 100 miles to the nearest dealership, which was Mini of Knoxville. I was worried (to say the least), as the car is quite new (09), I was at least a thousand miles away from anyone I knew, and I had to be at work in New Orleans, where I am a teacher, on Wednesday morning. I called the dealership early Tuesday morning to explain my situation and why my car was in their lot, prepared to plead that they get me back on the road ASAP, and was met with some of the friendliest, most courteous and prompt service I have ever experienced. They took my car in right away and assured me that the service would be covered under the warranty and that they would call me if anything came up that I would need to pay for out of pocket. Kevin called me twice that morning with updates-- once to tell me what the problem had been and to tell me what they had fixed (in addition to fixing my electronics issue, they took care of the service that was due, including changing my oil and replacing front and rear wiper blades), and to ask if I wanted to have the tires rotated and some rust removed (not covered under the warranty and not critical, so I opted not to have this done). He called an hour later to say that it would be done within the hour (before noon!) and that I could come pick it up. When I picked up the car it was freshly washed and vacuumed, and serviced beyond what I had hoped or expected (I'd had no idea how much I needed new wiper blades until I used the new ones later that day). I made it back to New Orleans that night, and I received both a phone call and an email from Kevin the following day checking to make sure I'd made it home safely, thanking me for my patronage, and wishing me a good school year. In the past I have been wary about taking my cars to be serviced at a dealership, usually opting for independent repair shops, but this experience has changed my mind. I cannot recommend Mini of Knoxville enough-- they turned a tense and frustrating situation into an impressively positive experience. I only wish they were in New Orleans so I could use them regularly!

Knoxville Ultimate Automotive
Had been using this shop for about 6 to 7 years and always had good and honest service with Ken and Steve, but stopped using them after a display of poor customer relations and ill judgment skills on their part. Upon running late to get finished car for a Saturday appt (for which we advised we'd be back that day to pick up), no one answered our courtesy call to them nor answered or checked the already locked business door (we did arrive probably 1 minute or so after closing time). With all the kids' car seats in the vehicle now not accessible until Tuesday morning (very inconveniencing), not even repeated unanswered calls nor posting requests to FB account regarding the situation helped. Upon our Tuesday morning pickup, Steve in the company of Ken and a customer used every excuse in the book to discount my responsible actions and counter my reputable attempts taken to advise them of the situation. I was diplomatic and polite telling them that I wouldn't be back and advised them that poor customer service and just plain out lack of common sense on their part was to blame. Like I said, I have always had good and honest car service, but this really caught me off-guard and was surprising as to their ill-posed defense. Exercising good customer service (even common sense/judgment) and just checking would have advised them that 'hey, we have one more customer yet to pick their car up.' Hmm, not even a free oil-change for the inconvenience or misunderstanding was offered. . . what a way to keep your customers!

Grayson BMW
I recently purchased a pre-owned Land Rover LR4 from Grayson BMW that I found via Cars.com. The vehicle I was looking for was very specific (color, options) and it just so happened they had “the one” I was in search for, yet I was in Austin, TX. I worked with Andrea DeMarco from start to finish on this purchase. She was helpful throughout the process and was able to get all of the information needed on options, recent maintenance history, and condition, even though they are not a Land Rover dealer. Further, she helped coordinate a PPI from a 3rd party to inspect the vehicle for me. This was something I initiated as I wanted an independent party to look the car over since I would not be seeing it before purchase. The entire transaction was smooth and painless; she overnighted the paperwork to me with detailed instructions and had the contract executed the day she received my paperwork and check. Lastly, and most importantly, was the patience Andrea and Grayson BMW showed when the transporter I hired from UShip flaked out. I got the run-around for almost 10 days until I finally pulled the plug and found a better transporter. Low and behold, the car sat there for over two weeks before being picked up. They never complained or threatened to charge storage fees. Ultimately, the communication was excellent, the price was very fair, and the overall experience was top notch.

Mr. Cool Complete Auto Care
I've had my vehicles in here for a couple of different reasons over the last year. A little over a month ago, I had to have brakes and new rotors put on my Toyota truck. A week or so later, I noticed as I backed up a high pitch squeal, mainly after my truck was parked for some time. My first thought was due to new brakes they just needed to get seated together and would be fine. However the noise continued until I finally took it in Yesterday.I dropped it off and left it there for the day and receive a call later in the day. They had not been able to get it to replicate, since I had to drive it there. I suggested they keep it overnight and back it up first thing in the morning. I received a call around 2 PM on Saturday at my truck was ready to be picked up. They had put new rotors and new pads on my truck. The shocking part was when they told me there was no additional charge. Each time I have had my vehicle there, they have demonstrated nothing less than complete honesty and integrity in dealing with me. I would recommend this auto shop to anyone needing auto repairs in the Knoxville area. The prices are reasonable, the work is great, but the service is outstanding!

Estimates came back for repair to my wife's 2002 Jeep Liberty (which she loved) and the verdict was "totaled". We did our homework on new Jeep Liberty's and found the Consumer Reports "Reliability Rating" reports were too low to inspire confidence to shop them. She liked the new Nisson Rogue so we're off shopping a new vehicle to replace her Liberty. Hit 5 other dealerships and the staff at the Nisson Dealership on Kingston were definitely the Most Knowledgeable, friendliest, and easiest to deal with. Gotta give props to MIGS (our sales guy). He's from Brazil, been in Knoxville for years, and is the GO TO guy on his Nisson product. The Business guy and the sales manager made the whole process fun. There I said it... It was fun to deal with these guys. No haggling, no bs and lots of smiles.I work in a similar business industry and I know the ins & outs of how deals and relationship building with your customers should be. These guys do it first class. We'll be back. If you're shopping new or used cars this dealership is a "must shop".

Gibson's Repair
My baby is an 86 560SL, red on black, with 39k miles. My father kept her in the garage with a cover over her, he rarely drove her, he was a large man and preferred his SEL's. When I had her towed to Knoxville she had 27k miles, and her tags had been expired for four years. I have no idea how long it had been since she was even started. To make a long story short, the fifth mechanic that tried to get her running had it towed to his brother-n-laws mechanic, Don Gibson. Don had it running the night he got it, which was the evening before my father's funeral. I love this man! No one, other than Don or his son Dewayne, will ever touch my car again. They are strictly Mercedes, and they are the best.

Gillespie Imports
This place is where I am taking my vehicles for now on. My car had an issue accelerating on the highway. So I took it to a dealership not once but twice and they couldn't get it right and still charged me a ton of money. I took my car to Gillespie and they diagnosed it correctly the first time. It was a very complicated engine repair and they gave me a fair price. The car runs better now than it ever did. (on a side note). No mechanic just like a doctor gets everything right all the time. These other few reviews are just p.o'd people leaving a review because happy customers usually don't take time to leave reviews. I do because I owe them one. They have been great to me.

All Pro Automotive Services
My experience with All Pro will bring me back for all my car service and repair needs. When searching for a shop to get new tires and oil changes that's not "big business" like WalMart or a dealership. I found All Pro. The customer service was Great! I was looking for a place that treated me like a human being and not just another customer with a car. They gave me a fair price and also let me know what would need replacing in the near future. I would recommend them to all my family and friends looking for a shop that has dependable work, fair prices and good customer care. Thanks Guys!

All Pro Automotive Services
My family has been using All Pro for all our car needs for almost 10 years. Both my kids are taking their family cars to be serviced here as well. They are honest, professional, and reliable. They are the only ASE Blue Seal certified shop in Knoxville. My cars have had everything from oil changes, tires, wipers all the way to transmission repairs. And the customer service is always professional and have never mislead me on pricing, time of repairs or anything. I would recommend them to anyone who is wanting Quality work at an honest and fair price.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
