Honestly, I had gotten on Angies List and called the person with the most & best reviews (which at the time was not Sunlight Contractors) and had them come out to give me a quote. The guy came out, and I was surprised when he didnt even get in the attic. He told me he would measure it from the outside. He wasnt here very long and was a nice enough guy. I actually had to call him several times after that to actually get the quote from him. So I got back on Angies list and went to the next guys on the list which was Sunlight Contractors. I set up the meeting time with them. The difference in how Sunlight dealt with me as a perspective customer compared to the first guy was night and day. The same day that I set up the inspection appointment they emailed me a fact sheet on spray foam insulation and some web links on places that I could go to get more information about the type of spray foam that should be used in residential homes. I felt much more prepared after that. They also sent copies of their insurance and licenses that they held which I thought reassuring especially since they were being so upfront with it all. It felt like they didnt have anything to hide. Alan showed up on time and was extremely polite. He got up in the attic and when he came down, he not only explained to me what he thought we needed to do up there for insulation but he also pointed out some issues with our electrical that I didnt even know we had, which I really appreciated. He went to his car for about 15 mins and came back with the quote printed up in his hand. I didnt have to wait long at all and the quote was very detailed which was very nice to see. When the installers came out to spray the foam, they showed up on time and were very polite. They explained to me what they needed as far as access to the attic and away they went. The process took about 6 hours all together. After watching those guys work I am super glad I didnt try and tackle that job myself. It is true what they say. Insulation is a young mans game. After they were done they cleaned up after themselves and didnt leave a mess anywhere. I could tell the difference right away in the temperature in our house. We didnt have hardly any insulation up in our attic so it was real difficult to keep the whole house one temperature without a bunch of fans. Now we dont have any fans on all day long and the whole house stays an even 70° - 72°. I am super excited to see how much money we will be saving this summer! I couldnt be more pleased with Sunlight Contractors. I highly recommend them!

Definitely exceeded our expectations! In 2015 we had Sunlight come out to install spray foam installation. In 2014 we had double pane insulated windows installed because everyone told us they would do the trick since our windows were over 40+ years old. The a/c never kicked off during the summer & the house stayed at 88 when the thermostat was set on 70. It would finally reach 70 at about 2 in the morning and would finally kick off for about 45 minutes and then it started all over again. We received quotes from other companies but as their sales people came out it was a quick walk around the property & just throwing out a number. Sunlight came out and not only spent an inordinate amount of time with us but did a door blower test, walked around the property, went up into the attic, & told us the best avenue to take on the type of house that we have. They also explained all the different insulation's that were available and what would work well with our home. We had a two-car carport and everyone else was telling us the spray foam would have to be put over the carport area along with the living area. Sunlight told us it would be a waste of money and their suggestion was to put up to two walls of plastic and spray the insulation onto it and it would create a more secure insulated barrier. The day of the insulation installation, they called & gave us an approximate time they would arrive, by mid afternoon they were done, cleaned up and out of there. What is really fantastic is that my unit does not kick on hardly at all during the day. The house stays at 70 all day and it is very cool. One thing I did notice about this company is whether you call them or send them an email, they respond back immediately, which in today's business environment that is usually unheard of. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a professional job done and service after the installation at an affordable price.

I recently moved into the home that I was raised in and, as expected with any older home, I had many issues to address. I had a new a/c unit installed; however, the temperature in the home always exceeded the temperature set on the thermostat. I eventually learned that the insulation in my attic was insufficient and partially to blame for my cooling issues. I found myself in need of an insulation company. I asked around and a friend located Sunlight Contractors, LLC on Angie's List. I called other companies as well to ensure I received the best deal at the best price. The initial quote from Sunlight Contractors was above my budget; however, Ira advised me of a more affordable option. Ira's professionalism, the business' reputation, and the fact that Ira provided videos and documentation to ensure I was well informed of the various services the company offers, made my decision to choose Sunlight Contractors a "no brainer". I had my service completed and the company exceeded my expectations!!!! Though the insulation has decreased the temperature in my home, I've continued to have cooling issues (unrelated to the attic insulation). Sunlight Contractors has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure I'm satisfied and comfortable in my home. They even came out to work with my a/c repairman to conduct thermal imaging in an effort to identify and resolve the matter. I feel like I'm apart of the Sunlight Contractors family, and I recommend this outstanding company to any business or home owner in need of insulation/energy saving services! There's no need to look further. I am a witness that you will receive quality work at an affordable price and the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE around!!!! Don't them now!

I have been absolutely blown away by my experience with Sunlight Contractors. From the very moment I called, Ira was helpful, responsive, and easy to talk to. After our first conversation he sent me all kinds of videos that educated me on exactly what was going on in my house and why it was losing so much heat in the winter and cool air in the winter. I cannot tell you what it was a relief to find someone who was an expert in this field, that I could trust to guide me in the right direction. I shopped around for a couple quotes and Sunlight was on par—if not less than—other contractors that weren’t nearly as pleasant to work with or as knowledgable in their field. Because I work at home I was in an extra hurry to get the work done and Ira bent over backwards to make sure it got on their schedule as quickly as possible. When his team arrived they were friendly, informative, and considerate and dare I say even fun to be around. They did what’s called a blower test and walked me around the house showing me where exactly all the air leaks are and giving me tips on how to improve things not even related to the work they were doing!I’ve only had my spray foam attic installed today, so this glowing review is speaking to how awesome the Sunlight team is, without even having first hand experience with their product!! I’ll make sure to update my review once I’ve lived with my new roof for a few weeks but all signs point to me absolutely loving it.If you are miserable in your house, and confused or frustrated about what to do about it, CALL THEM NOW and at least understand your options. They are great at educating newbie home owners like me without any sales pressure whatsoever. Thank you Sunlight!

Working with Sunlight Contractors has been THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!That statement is not an exaggeration in the slightest. From Start to finish they followed through on everything they said that they would do, their communication was excellent. The same day that I received the quote I also received an email with their proof of insurance, and a very thorough explanation of the material that they use. I felt much more informed about what I was purchasing and who I was purchasing it from. Lets talk about the extra mile - About a 5 months after the spray foam was installed in my house. I had a plumbing issue that flooded my master bedroom (not at all related to the spray foam insulation). I called Ira at Sunlight Contractors to see if any of the work that I needed done could be done through Sunlight Contractors because of how excellent their service was with the spray foam. Ira told me that he currently didn't hold the specific Licenses to conduct the work I needed. But he did send two of his guys over to my house that same day to help me move furniture that would have been damaged if they stayed where they were. Sunlight Contractors has made a loyal customer out of me. If there is something that I need done at my home or my place of business I will always call Sunlight Contractors first before anyone else. They are by far the best, not just because they do good work but because they care about their clients! Give them the chance to make a loyal customer out of you. I promise they wont let you down!

I searched on the internet for a local insulating company that seemed professional and established, and Sunlight Contractors were the first company I saw out for and after only about 30 mins after sending the company an email, Ira called me, which was very surprising and gave me much needed information and what I should look for in a contractor. The process was very prompt and simple. Cleair and Jared came out and did a wonderful energy audit in my home and showed me where I was losing air in my home and how I could prevent that, which no other competitor had done. They were extremely responsive on every end of the board. I noticed since putting the spray foam in my attic that temperature in my home doesn't change as often. My house heats up very quickly and when I shut it off and return from work the heat is pretty much still in my home. There was a little confusion with my payment, and I was mistakenly charged more than I was suppose to pay, so I called Ira and he immediately got things right and send me a check in the mail. This is a very honest and trustworthy company to deal with. What made me choose the company over others was their quick responses, their quick production crew and how respectful they were to my property. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to make their home more energy efficient. Excited to see how effective the spray foam will be closer to the summer.

Sunlight is starting on our insulation project tomorrow. We were referred to Ira by our A/C company, as they share some of the same clients, and everyone always spoke highly of them. I called Sunlight to inquire about their services, and Ira could not have been more helpful. He spent over 15 minutes explaining to me the different types of insulation, and also the benefits we would see from the spray foam. We discussed all of the AC problems we were having with condensation, and Ira described in great detail how each of the problems would be perfectly resolved with spray foam in the attic. He further sent me industry information about spray foam, including detailed videos and written distributions, which helped provide me with the data I needed to make the informed decision about what to do, and who would do it. Then, his employees came by the very next day to make a very thorough inspection. They were on time, clean, respectful, thorough, and took the time to look over everything so they had as much information as possible to make the best recommendation. This sealed the deal, and we arranged for the installation dates that very same day. We are very excited, and cannot wait to provide an update after the install is finished!

The process took several hours to complete - about what was explained to me during the sales presentation. The crew arrived on time and immediately began to move any items out of my attic that were in the way. Upon completing the job, they cleaned up any debris which may have accumulated from the work and put everything back exactly where it had been moved from. As a result of the work, I have realized immediate savings in my electrical bill and my air conditioning unit is working much more efficiently. Prior to this, my a/c unit would come on at about 10am and not go off until 10pm, after the house cooled back down. The unit never "cycled" on and off during the daytime hours and the thermostat would often reach 85 or 86 degrees. This would keep the unit running constantly until it cooled back down to 78 degrees, where I kept it set. Now the thermostat never rises above 79 degrees (still set at 78) and the a/c unit cycles on and off during the day like its supposed to. My most recent electrical bill was $179.35 where my bill for the same period last year was approximately $304.15. My home is much cooler and comfortable while helping me save money via lower electrical bills.

Our home received almost five feet of water from the August floods. Mitigation efforts became very important to us in the event (heaven forbid) of another flood. So, I headed to our local library to gather information about effective ways to help protect our home in the future. Closed-cell spray insulation was highly recommended by all the available documentation. So, I researched spray-foam insulation companies in the Baton Rouge area and Sunlight Contractors' name was at the top of the list. After checking with the state licensing board for contractors to ensure that Sunlight Contractors is state licensed (with three licenses, no less!), I checked Sunlight's reviews, all of which were excellent. After doing my homework, I contacted the company and they promptly scheduled a time for an estimate and have been very easy to work with since then. Ira has the patience of a saint, dealing with so may people whose homes flooded and who are taking mitigation steps that also will cut utility bills and make for a more comfortable home. I wholeheartedly recommend Sunlight Contractors without reservation. They have been super!

Sunlight contractors provided spray foam insulation in the attic and below the floors in an old single-family shotgun home that was always too hot or too cold. It is a rental house and there was constant tenant turnover because the utility bills were too high and the place was uncomfortable. Through the summer, the thermostat was set at 73 or 74 and the temperature in the house stayed in the 80s.I tried to fix the problem on my own by blowing in cellulose insulation twice, adding a radiant barrier in the attic, weatherstripping doors and sealing ductwork. I even had Entergy perform an audit on the electric meter. Nothing worked so I cut the rent to help with the high bills.Alan came out to perform an energy audit on the house and quoted me for the spray foam insulation. I waited several months hoping my remedies would work but they did not. I decided to take one last shot at fixing the problem by calling Alan back to foam the house. So far, the house temp stays in line with the thermostat and now the attic even stays in the 80s. Problem finally solved!
Tips & Advices
If there is ever a dispute regarding payment over the course of the project, a contractor or subcontractor could place a payment claim, or lien, on your property. To avoid this, ask the contractor to sign a lien release, which is a legal agreement that states that any payment accepted is final. This can come in handy if a contractor has his or her own payment issues with their subcontractors. Signing a lien release form certifies that any payment made by a client to the contractor is enough to pay for any goods or services rendered.
Absolutely ask. Paying too much up front offers the homeowner minimal leverage if the quality of work does not meet expectations or contractual specifications. Try to establish a reasonable pay schedule, such as paying 10 percent of the total cost for each 10 percent of the work that is completed. Include this payment plan in the contract, as well.
Before any money changes hands, there should be a contract to sign. Make sure the specifics of the work and all costs are listed in the contract, including details. If you forget to have something included in the contract after signing it, there's rarely a chance of recourse.
Ask the contractor for proof of their certification before signing anything, as well as their proof of insurance. You should also check your homeowners insurance policy to see if they offer coverage for contracted work. You may want to call your insurance provider and ask for more details on what your plan will and won't cover.
Yes. Plans for how the work site will be cleaned at the end of each day as well as at the conclusion of work need to be put in writing. An experienced general contractor should make every effort to keep the workspace clean and prevent dirtying or damaging any other area. Even so, talk with the contractor about the daily schedule, the logistics of transporting workers and equipment, and how cleanup will be handled.
