Dr. Matthew James Isom, DO
I absolutely loved this doctor in a friend/Godly way of course I'm married. He was carrying, thoughtful, and made me feel very comfortable without being creepy at all. Very professional in all his works and ways. Advice was always great and really took his time making sure I was alright after he delivered my son. He wasn't even the doctor I chose to do so. He just happened done at the hospital when I went into labor. He did such a great job with my cesarean incision c-section delivery. I did get pregnant soon after but had to move far away however every doctor that look at it say how great of a job he Dr. Isom did on it. I kept him as my doctor after delivery until I had to move. The doctor visit wait time was not long at all.

Though I find Dr. Gibbs to be a wonderful caring doctor his office staff is the worst I've had to deal with. They are very rude and unorganized. We were even locked out of the office by them once, but today takes the cake. For no reason at all the office staff post-dated a regular daily RX for my son and the pharmacy, by law, cannot fill it until tomorrow and the office is now closed with no way to correct the problem. I have complained prior to this and was assured they had been spoken to and that I'm not the first to complain. Needless to say, my son will have to go a day without his medication due to the negligence of his office staff. I'm furious but also helpless.

Dr. Icaza took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure I was on the right meds to control my migraines. I'm so glad he was able to help me with this when no one else did. Thank you for taking the time to figure it out. I highly recommend Dr. Icaza. His staff is friendly and his office is nice. You don't have to wait forever for an appt either.

I was running late for my appointment, overall having a very bad day. I called to reschedule, but Dr. Icaza's staff was very kind and they were able to get me in to see the doc anyway. I am glad that I went in today because I left there feeling much better. Dr. Icaza is very knowledgeable about my condition and I know that he will get me through this.

Dr Icaza was able to control my seizures after seeing 3 other neurologists over a period of 9 years, Dr Icaza was able to get my seizures under control after seeing him. He determined where my seizures originated from and what was the best treatment for me. Now seizure free for 15 months. Never thought this could happen.

The office staff here is so sweet and the dr is very confident and knowledgable. I actually look forward to my neuro appointments. However, Dr. Icaza has done such a wonderful job treating my pain that I don't think I'll be needing to see him much longer as it's nearly gone.

I appreciate his methodical approach to figuring out what was going on. It was clear he has a lot of experience and really knows his stuff. I am glad he was willing to turn every stone to diagnose me. After previous bad experiences, I've finally found a doc I can trust.

Dr. Icaza was very patient and helpful with my wheelchair bound mother who suffers from dementia. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a neurologist. in fact, my sister is seeing him next week. Thank you Dr. Icaza.

No wait time, very thorough and great explanations. Good bedside manner, I was astonished to have someone who actually listened and showed concern...wish there were more doctors like him.
Tips & Advices
Academic medical centers provide the widest range of specialty care treatments, including the latest technological advances, clinical trials, and surgical techniques. In general, an academic medical center is a better choice than a community hospital for complicated treatments or rare diseases. Pediatric intensive care, especially, is usually performed at academic medical centers.
Academic medical centers offer a broad range of specialized services, from allergists to urologists. Some of the larger medical centers have entire hospitals or clinics focused on a particular medical service, such as cancer treatment, though specialties vary among the centers. Patients whose community hospital or local doctors do not have the facilities or expertise to address complex medical conditions can be referred by their primary care physician or local specialist to a major medical center (there are more than a dozen in the United States).
Yes. In addition to their inpatient hospital services, medical centers can offer a wide variety of outpatient services, such as pain clinics, rehabilitation centers, surgery, imaging and laboratory, mental health treatment, and outpatient cancer treatment. Medical groups – doctors in private practice but affiliated with the medical center--will also have offices within the medical center.
Physicians, nurses, physician’s assistants, residents, and attending physicians makeup the clinical staff of an academic medical center.
Medical center accreditation is not required, but most centers work voluntarily toward accreditation because it represents higher standards of healthcare quality and patient safety.
