Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic
I have been going to Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic since it opened in 1981!! I LOVE this clinic! I have seen it grow from a 2 vet clinic, started by Dr. Randlett & Dr. Nichols, to the OUTSTANDING practice it is today!! I highly recommend this clinic!!Whenever I call or visit, I have always been greeted by Kingsland's friendly and helpful front desk & office staff!!You can specify a vet of choice when making appointments but quite honestly I have a hard time choosing!! Dr. Randlett, Dr. Croft, Dr. Shows, Dr. Rico, Dr. Obergfell & Dr. Buelna are all vets that have treated my animals and they are ALL exceptional vets and truly NICE people. They are up to date on the latest treatments, also caring, and more than happy to discuss, in detail, any concerns, diagnosis or treatments of my pets. I have always found these vets to be very honest, straight forward but kind. A few of my sweet babies have developed some rather rare conditions but they were very quick to make a diagnosis and make treatment option recommendations and when necessary refer us to specialists!!

Cinco Ranch Veterinary Hospital
We had three adopted cats (Vodka, Tequila and Mahotai), all of which have been cared for by the awesome personnel and doctors at Cinco Ranch Veterinary Hospital. The doctors are very, patient, understanding, and takes the time to answer all of our questions. Sadly our oldest cat, Vodka, had tumors all over her body and the doctors did everything in their power to comfort her, but the true is that she was so sick that we decided to put her to sleep. They were very supportive and kind with us, they explained the whole process and gave us time to say good bye to our cat. They also send us a card signed for all the personnel expressing their condolences and letting us know that we will be fine. Now we adopted a tiny, funny, crazy-happy dog and we named him Mojito, the cats love him, and he is definitely going to be the next patient at Cinco Ranch Veterinary Hospital. If you need a great vet that takes the time to really talk things thru and makes sure your animals are well cared for, then this is the place for you.

The WellPet Center
I have been looking for a vet who would provide more personalized care and wow did I find it at The WellPet Center Veterinary Hospital! At our first visit, they welcomed us by name, got us back promptly, offered us a drink (water, juice, soda) while we waited, and called us the next day to check on our dog and to see if we had any questions. During the visit, Dr. Cynthia Aswad and the vet tech, Christina, were awesome! They provided us with options and were up front with all costs. Not only did they make my dog feel comfortable (he had a hurt leg so rather than take him to the back for nail clipping, they did it right there in the exam room) but they helped include my 3 year old daughter (let her listen to his heartbeat, answered her questions, and had a TV in the exam room for us to watch while waiting). I am so relieved to have found a vet who really seems to care and follows-up. Thank you WellPet Center and Dr. Aswad!

Fry Road Animal Clinic
We came to Katy from Florida and findind and changing vets was scary for both us and our pets. We called several vets to just talk and kind of feel them out. Most were not willing to take the time to talk to us on the phone as they were "too busy". Some were down right rude. Luckily we called Fry Road Animal Clinic. They took the time to tell us about their vets and their practice. There was no doubt when we first took our pets there. We have a dog who is almost 17 years old and we did not want to put him through shots, etc. Our vet just suggested we bring him in to just get a file started on him so that when the terrible time comes where he must sleep we will have him on record. What a wonderful relief. We have now been in Katy for almost 3 years and Fry Rd. Animal Clinic is our only vet and we have recommended them to many many friends.Glenn G. Gamache

Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic
Dr. Croft removed a tumor from my Dwarf Hamster, Mr. Whisker's on November 19th, 2014. There are not enough words in the English Language to express my gratitude for the AMAZING care that Dr. Croft and the Staff @ Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic gave to both myself and Mr. Whisker's. Dr. Croft is an exceptional Veterinarian who is very informative, caring, compassionate and truly interested in the animal's well being. Their kindness did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Dr. Croft will never know how truly grateful I am to him for giving me more time with my Mr. Whisker's. I highly recommend Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic. Exceptional care that won't break the bank. Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic
This place is great! I have been bringing my shih tzus to Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic for about two years now and I've never had a problem. My dogs have been seen on all occasions from an emergency, to regular checkups, to dental cleanings. The entire staff is great! They are thorough, considerate, and are very gentle to my furry babies. After my babies had their dental cleanings the doctor took her time on the phone with me and explained everything that went on during the procedure and answered every question I had. I have no complaints whatsoever!!

Katy Veterinary Clinic
My exprience with the Katy Vet Clinic is the exact oppositve of the other reviewer. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Cleavinger and her staff. When we first moved to Katy we went to another clinic first and were very unsatisfied, and have been happy with the Katy Vet Clinic for over 2 years now. Dr. Cleavinger has been very conservative about running unnecessary expensive tests. She has been WONDERFUL at communication with me, emailing me test results as soon as she gets them, etc. I cannot ask for a better vet for my dog.

Katy Veterinary Clinic
The Katy Veterinary Clinic is the best clinic in the Katy area in which we have used for over 16 years. The staff is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. We recently lost our 16 year Pomeranian, and we cannot say enough kind words about how professional and compassionate Dr. Cleavinger and staff were to our dog and us during this difficult time. During our dog's lifetime, the care from all the doctors and staff, at Katy Veterinary Clinic, was always very satisfactory and helpful. Five stars...highly recommended.

The WellPet Center
I am so glad that I found WellPet! I have 3 dogs, Jack, Noah, and Levi. Noah and Jack are rescues and Noah is very nervous around new people so whenever we go anywhere unfamiliar, I take his muzzle (just in case). Well, lo and behold, Noah did not even need it and that tells me that he felt very comfortable with them. The clinic itself is very nice but you can go to beautiful clinics and have a pretty crappy staff. From the moment I walked in the door to when I left, it was a great experience.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
