Casey's General Store
I go here in the mornings after my workout for my morning coffee. Then I go on my way home from work for my evening cup of Jo. Each time the staff if courteous and friendly. They see me pull up at night sometimes and I see them scrambling to check the coffee. Mind you, this Casey's is 6 miles from my house. There is one.5 miles from me bit I got tired of going there and feeling like I was being a bother or they didn't have coffee and when I asked them to make it I was made to feel like I'd asked for the moon. The day girls and the evening girls are awesome! I'd say names but I'd probably get them wrong. I'll give it a shot. Josie and Allison at night and the two girls on the day shift (man I'm bad with names!) keep up the good work ladies!

Daniel MS Hecker DVM
Dan Hecker is the best veterinarian in the metropolitan Kansas City area. He has been my vet of choice for all the different animals that I have. When my dog Wolfie was extremely sick with kidney stones, Dr. Hecker performed an 8-9 hour surgery on my 2 pound dog. He not only survived but has thrived for at least 4 years since the operation and is still doing great. Without Dr Hecker, I would have lost Wolfie a long time ago. I appreciate the fine operating skills and the fine veterinarian skills that Dr. Hecker possesses. And I thank him for giving me so many great years with my little dog

Animal Clinic of Kendallwood
I recently moved to the area and was recommended Kendallwood animal clinic by a coworker. I took my dog there to get a simple check up due to her age and so she and I could get to know the Vet there. Because of her age he recommended bloodwork and I am so glad he did!! It came back that she was starting to have liver problems and if he hadn't suggested and been thorough I wouldn't have known until it was too late. I am very impressed with this Vet, his clinic and his services. I am happy we found him and will definitely recommend Kendallwood to everyone!

Noahs Ark Animal Clinic
Noah’s Ark is a fantastic clinic that truly cares about my pets’ well-being. Dr. Jane and staff are amazing. Dr. Jane has been our vet for over 15 years and has taken excellent care of our animals. Front staff is always excited to see my dogs and have always addressed all of my concerns. The doctors have always been very understanding and cover all of the options available for an ailing pet. I know my pets are safe and happy when I leave them at Noah’s Ark for treatment. I would recommend them to anyone.

Tiffany Hills Animal Hospital
Dr. Fortney and his wife are incredible. Truly the best vet in the kansas city metro area, so kind and helpful and incredibly attentive to both of my dogs. My dogs absolutely love him! I have dog who has special needs and she is much more calm and peaceful here than any other vet office we've gone to, Will continue to go and tell as many people as I possibly can about the perfect vet!

Eastwood Hills Animal Hospital
This is the only place I would ever take my dogs to in KC. I took them to other vets before that overcharged for service and meds but Eastwood Hills was very fair priced. They are great with my dogs and nice people. I recommended them to my sister in law for her new puppy and she loved them too, she said they are half the price of other vets for puppy shots.

Animal Emergency Center
When I brought my yorkie/poodle in at 6 am on a Sunday with enterocolitis, the technician and the Vet did a great job of treating my beloved pet and reassuring me! Bobo is now fully recovered and I am thankful that the Animal Emergency Center was available when we needed them. Susan.

Animal Clinic of Kendallwood
Nice and professional. Everyone loves the animals like they were their own. We fell in love with this clinic from the first time we took our dog there. We wouldn't trust anyone else with our fur babies. The prices are fair and the care Amazing
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
